The book uncovers a far-leftist, anti-American nexus that has been instrumental in not only helping build Obama's political career but in securing his presidency. Klein details with shocking precision how this nexus continues to influence Obama and the White House and is involved in drafting policy aimed at reshaping our country. Highlights of The Manchurian President :
Very thoroughly researched and annotated, and well-written. An excellent piece of journalistic investigation. I'd have given it more stars but it's sort of old news now--we've already elected Obama once, despite most of this information about him being available in 2008; God help us if we do it again. But shame on the "mainstream" media for ignoring, or actively covering up, all this very damning information and inflicting a radical socialist president on us. We're just lucky he's more zealous than competent.
Very Good Research! Aaron Klein, an American reporter in Jerusalem, began investigating Barack Obama due to what he considered puff pieces by media watchdogs. He wanted more meat. After two years of research, the result was a book: The Manchurian President: Barack Obama’s Ties to Communists, Socialists and Other Anti-American Extremists (2010, 339 pages). He asserts of the book: “It is not a work of opinion…”(p. xii). And to his credit the facts presented can be verified through various mainstream media outlets. Although, this book is over ten years old, it is still very relevant for today’s socio-political climate.
The author writes of Obama’s Alinsky-style training and his association with Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground, a group labeled by the FBI as a domestic terrorism group. There is more on other Obama associates, colleagues, and affiliated organizations. Too numerous to give details, but suffice to say, it is well researched information. Klein writes of Manning Marble’s comments published in the Socialist Review (2008): “A lot of the people working with him [Obama] are, indeed, socialists with backgrounds in the Communist Party or as independent Marxists…” (p. 86-87). The writing includes prominent persons such as: David Axelrod, Van Jones, Minister Louis Farrakhan, and Anita Moncrief. The author also points out when information is not found. He writes: “The authors of this book found no evidence whatsoever indicating that Obama is today a Muslim” (p. 41). The reader is also introduced to the concept of “Astroturf.” It is defined as an “apparently grassroots-based citizen groups or coalitions that are primarily conceived, created, and/or funded by corporations, industry trade associations, political interests, or public relation firms…” (p. 264).
The book does have a right wing-political lens, but it is well-written and informative. Admittedly, these are some very interesting friendships and/or associations for a presidential candidate. Regardless of your political leanings, right, left, or neither, this is a good book to read. Then decide for yourself, if this is a case of ships passing in the night or strange bedfellows.
Like the saying goes..."Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean people aren't out to get you." Whether you are an Obama fan and think the rash of literature like this book are conspiracy theorists ramblings, or, like me, not an Obama fan and find books like these informative concerning this "very secretive" President. You cannot refute the facts in this book. The Manchurian Candidate can be tedious, and you may feel "alright already" I get it! However, the truth is, many of Obama's friends and associates are communists and radicals of the anti-American ilk.
This book is perhaps the greatest collection of facts known about Barack Obama. This man (whoever he really is) has been President of the United States for almost 3 years now and most Americans know absolutely nothing about his past. Obama is exposed for the trojan horse sent to destroy America that he is proving to be.
OK, I'm not a huge fan of politics in general, which is to say I don't trust politicians as a rule. This book was a little tiresome to read, as it comes off like little more than a list, but the content begs the question...WHY DOESN'T ANYONE CARE!! This isn't a book of birther nonsense, although there are some mentions. Why would a person deliberately change the names of people from their past in their own autobiography?? Information that is easily obtainable from public records. A person who keeps secrets usually has things to hide...and this book opens the closet and drags out the laundry for all to see and decide.
It really shows what a cult of personality Barack Obama has created, so that his election and time in office have not been affected whatsoever by facts. We elected a fictional character, while the actual person serves the term. Scary indeed!!
ARE "SOCIALIST ACTIVISTS" AND OTHER "EXTREMISTS" PUSHING A "RADICAL AGENDA”?
Aaron Klein is a journalist, author, and radio host.
He wrote in the Introduction to this 2010 book that he is "by no means arguing herein that President Obama has been brainwashed by anyone or is a sleeper agent for any international party or weapons conglomerate," but Klein argues Obama's similarity to the movie the book title is taken from, as "a powerful politician whose true past has been intentionally obscured, and who has become the vehicle for implementing a hidden radical agenda." He adds, "this book also exposes an extremist coalition of communists, socialists, and other radicals working both without and within the administration to draft and advance White House policy goals."
He argues that "There can be no doubt, then, that Obama and (William) Ayers were well-acquainted by 1988, brought together through an acolyte of (Saul) Alinsky..." (Pg. 11) Furthermore, he charges that although Obama never personally met Saul Alinsky, "Obama was carefully educated and trained by Alinsky's personal disciples." (Pg. 51) He also quotes writer Stanley Kurtz, suggesting that Obama should have been well aware of Rev. Jeremiah Wright's "anti-American" views. (Pg. 95)
He rejects, however, some of the more dubious anti-Obama claims; for example, Klein "found no evidence whatsoever indicating that Obama is today a Muslim" (Pg. 41), as well as "no convincing evidence that Obama was born in Kenya, nor that his birthplace was any place other than Hawaii." (Pg. 70)
He also attempts to reveal ("expose") the "extremist czars" in the Obama administration, such as Energy Czar Carol Browner, who he labels as a "socialist activist." (Pg. 166) The Obama health care plan, he asserts, "was pushed along and partially crafted by extremists... (and) seems intended to achieve corporate state goals and a vast increase in government powers." (Pg. 239)
Not a book that will be popular with supporters of Obama; but it is fairly well-documented (at least when compared to other stuff on the Internet), although one may or may not agree it adequately substantiates Klein's conclusions.
This type of book reveals the weakness of reading on a Kimball. There are no page numbers to refer to when consulting the index. And it is difficult to find footnotes and then go back to where you were in the text. My low rating of this book is partly because of these shortcomings. Beyond that, Mr. Klein did not adequately delineate the harmful activities of such groups as ACORN, thus weakening his criticism of President Obama for having been associated with these groups. Perhaps if I read the paper version of this book, I would be able to refer back and forth and understand better. As it is, I can only give this a 4 out of 10 rating.
This book is a real eye opener. It generates a lot more questions than it solves.
It does show a lot of things I would not have believed before. For example I was strongly doubtful of the whole "birther" issue but after reading this book I see how many things are certainly unanswered and could be true.
Kinda boring. Endlist rehashing of who knew who, who mentored who, who had socialist parents, who founded what subversive organization, and so on. If your mind is not already made up about Obama's background, this may or may not convince you. I didn't feel compelled to finish reading the book.
Just could not get into this. The writing is rather dry and so filled with facts that I did not finish, even though I have a thing about finishing what I start. I have read similar types of books which are much more readable.
