When I first started reading I didn't feel much chemistry between Lane and Tristan. He was somewhat demanding with her, and being that she left an abusive marriage, I didn't like how he was portrayed. Slowly though I felt the passion they had for each other, and Tristan's unique use of maraschino cherries, had me craving for a drink! Mix in some suspense, the involvement of the family in the storyline, a wonderful epilogue and it made for an enjoyable read.
Would have been 4 stars or more except the h has a few tstl moments that got the h/H shot and almost killed - that irritated me, it was so unnecessary. The sex scenes were just hot in this book:) 3.5 stars.
This was an okay read. The story was good and I thought it had some suspense. The characters were okay. I did not love them, nor dislike them. However, I was irritated by the heroine, Lane as she made some stupid decisions. I did think that she and Tristan had good chemistry and it showed in the intimate scenes. Also, I thought the ending of the story was good. I will continue the series because I want to know what happens in the series. Overall, an alright read.
Wild Irish #3 is definitely one of my favorites of the series. Lane and Tristan are a great pair. Lane, the heroine, was in an unhappy, turned abusive marriage and she would go to the Collins' pub every Wednesday night. She and Tristin strike up a friendship. He was madly in love with her but never acted inappropriately towards her. The night she finally decides to leave her husband, he beats her and she winds up in the hospital. Tristan goes to the hospital the next morning to check on her only to find she has checked out.
Love this family, thoroughly enjoyed the story and I can't wait for more! It is nice to read a story where the hero is so devoted, but also fully supportive. Tristan wants to give Lane everything in the world, but understands that it doesn't mean she is dependent or needy. Lane is trying to be independent and struggles to trust, both in Tris and herself. Her past is a stumbling block, but they get through it and the whole family is together for their Happy Ending! I need to keep reading this series and see the other siblings get their HEA too!
Another excellent story by Ms. Carr, and a great installment in the Wild Irish series, Waiting for Wednesday is Tristan Collins's story. He's the eldest of the Collins sons, and tends bar at the family pub. (His twin, Killian, is serving overseas.) Not an especially social person, he does befriend one of the people who becomes a Wednesday regular at the bar, Lane Bryce. She's a nurse, and comes in after her shift on Wednesdays to unwind a bit before heading home. While he knows she's married and off limits, they both enjoy the friendship they build through their weekly conversations.
Lane's husband, while never previously physically abusive, does do his best to crush her with his cruel words and cold manner. Then, when she determines to leave, he does become violent, putting her in the hospital with the injuries he inflicts. Tristan rushes to her side, vowing to protect her. But apparently her independent nature won't allow her to accept his help, and by the time he returns the following morning, Lane's checked herself out and disappeared. Hurt and bewildered, Tris buries himself in work.
When she returns a year later, Tristan can't believe his eyes. While she's more receptive to resuming their friendship, Tristan knows now that he really wants more than that. It's a matter of having the patience and planning to convince Lane that they are good together, and they can be together without her losing herself. And while he's a good planner, he's never been much for patience.
Ms. Carr pens a great romance with a likeable and real couple as well as the family and friends that surround them. Lane's ex makes a reappearance to muddle the works as well.
Waiting for Wednesday was well worth waiting for. The middle of this week is a great one!
Lane Bryce has been coming to the Collins bar every Wednesday night. She is in an unhappy marriage and looks forward to having a glass of wine and talking to Tristan Collins. After making the decision to leave her husband he beats her up pretty badly. When Tristan find out she is in the hospital he rushes to her side. He has been in love with her for a long time and finally see his chance to protect her. But by morning she sneaks off from the hospital without a word. A year later she comes back to town and goes and see Tristan. Tristan is ready to start a relationship but Lane is still very gun shy. When Pop Collins has a stroke they enlist Lane (who is a nurse) to take care of him. Tristan sees this also as a way to break down her defenses so she will see they belong together. Meanwhile her ex makes contact and uses the ploy that he has something that she wants to try and get her back.. This all goes horrible wrong.
It's been a long time since I picked up one of the Wild Irish books, but since I learned that the author is doing a spin off series, I figured I'd better kick my butt in gear and read the rest of these books. I really enjoyed this one, but couldn't remember all the details of the previous stories. Tris was a bit of an overprotective hero, but Lane really needed him when it counted. I didn't like how Lane's motives really weren't explained well when she left Tris. All things considered, it was a short and interesting read!
This story of Lane and Tristan is full of the ups and downs of how a relationship of two people who have been affected by loss and what the power of love can do to a person's life. Tristan is the third oldest sibling of the oldest sibling of the Collins family, along with his brother Killian who is still overseas being he is in the service still, in Afghanistan. Tristan and his brother were 15 years old when his mother, Sunday died of the affects of the treatment for Cancer. We also find out that Tristan was with his mother when she died. So this and being a young man who has just becoming into his manhood it is hard for him to love and to let go of family, it is probably why he gave Will such a hard time with Keria. So being a Collins we know that this loving Irish family is full of love of family. Then there is Lane, a lonely young lady who was an orphan from the age of seven. She married a man who had parental issues, his parents were alcoholics and used him as a punching bag. Lane was raised by her grandmother because her mother was an addict and at the age of seven her grandmother died so she became a ward of the state. So lets list the Collins family, there is Keria who is planning a wedding with Will and then there is Tegan who is on the road singing with her boyfriend Sky and then there is Tristan and Killian and Ewan and Riley and Sean the baby. So Lane is a young lady who is a nurse who happened into the Collin's bar every Wednesday and would sit at the bar and talk to Tristan. Tristan faces unrequited love, Lane faces domestic violence, then she disappears. This book starts off with a bang, and just keeps going. Tristan is a bartender in his family's Irish pub. He becomes friends with Lane as she comes in once a week. She's married to a man that doesn't appreciate her, and when she tries to leave him, things get scary, she ends up in the hospital. Then, suddenly, she's gone. We find out that she left and went to San Francisco to find herself. So after she comes back Tristan is determined to let her know how he feels about her. Loved this story, it presented bullying and domestic abuse and how love can cut through one's defenses and help a person to become whole. This is a book, I highly recommend.
4 stars I purchased Wild Irish Series books 1-4 by Mari Carr and this review was given freely. With titles centering around the days of the week and beginning with Monday, { Sunday was the mother who passed away} each book features one of the fun loving, close knit, protective and at times boisterous Irish American Pub-Restaurant owning Collins family members. The series feature the seven siblings from oldest to youngest and contains some wonderful family excerpts, a little suspense, a fair amount of steamy scenes, bondage, spanking, and menage. A lot of the storyline centers around the Collins apartment or business but it also branches out to include diverse themes such as student-professor, rock star, ex-military, virgin, crazy ex-husband, friends to lovers and more.
Come Monday by Mari Carr Beginning college at 28 after helping to raise her siblings, Keira is attracted to one of her professors, Wallace. Keira struggles with giving away control and make a life for herself not completely centered around her siblings and father in this first edition which contains an introduction to BDSM.
Ruby Tuesday by Mari Carr The second eldest sister and redhead dreamer, folk singer, and pub waitress Teagan becomes embroiled in rock star Sky's plot of becoming a solo artist gone bad. Contains some suspense and some steam scenes with light bondage/spanking.
Waiting for Wednesday by Mari Carr This book features the bartending first of the Collins twin boys, Tristan and the married nurse Lane he fell in love with during her routine Wednesday visits to the pub. Some steamy encounters, an alpha male, the return of the crazy ex, and Tristan's father having a stroke are combined in a interesting and at times intense story.
Sweet Thursday by Mari Carr In this sequel, the second Collins family twin and retired soldier Killian along with his best friend Justin have taken over Justin's family's construction business. Reuniting at their 10 year highschool reunion with the third part of their high cliche Lilly results in the fulfilment of unrequited love but the three struggle with the thought of menage as a permanent relationship.
Tristan tends bar in his family's Irish Pub and makes friends with Lane who spends every wednesday night in the bar. They are close friends with much in common until she decides to leave her husband and is hospitalized, brutally beaten. Tristan visits her in the hospital and when he returns the next morning she is gone. A year later she returns to the bar and assumes their friendship can be picked up again but Tristan was deeply hurt and disappointed at her disappearing for a year. Pop has a stroke and Lane, who is a nurse recognizes that is happening, calls 911 and is instrumental in saving him long term damage. The family hire Lane to stay in their apartment and help Pop to rehabilitate. Tristan and Lane struggle with their feelings. A well written story with lots of psychological justification for Lane's reluctance to enter another relationship and lots of hot sizzle.
Another fast paced romance. This one had some intense drama, but having to do with the fmc and mmc. though!
It was the fmc's ex husband, pretty crazy man! But the Collins family is great bunch, I really enjoy how Carr has made you feel like you're apart of the family. They've given you a glimpse into a wonderful family dynamic!
I did find that I got annoyed with the fmc at times. I understand she went through a tough marriage, both physically and mentally, but how she acted towards' the mmc's feelings was a bit childish. It's like she couldn't believe he had gain so many feelings for her after seeing her once a week for like two years. Thankfully she came to her senses at some point lol
Overall, good book!
I will NOT be reading the fourth book, it has to do with a three person relationship and that's not my thing!
Lane has a past that she tries to keep locked tight. Each Wednesday night, she used to sit at the bar and drink her wine while talking to the bartender, Tris. One night she isn't there and Tris finds she's been hurt. When he shows up to offer his support, he thinks that he can protect her. Only, she disappears.
For a year, Tris tries to forget her and move on with his life. But on a Wednesday night, she shows up again. He can't deny his feelings or his attraction to her. So, he plays on it. Even when he knows there are consequences.
There were some pretty dark moments in this book but Tris is there to mend the bad and offer her good. The relationship was more than I thought it would and I'm grateful. It was sexy but the communication really did it for me.
I read this book as part of the Wild Irish books 1-4.
Loved this story about the romance between Tristan, whose a bartender at the family pub, and Lane, who is a nurse who left town for a year. Now she's back in town and divorced, Tristan is ready to follow his heart and try to win Lane. I love how each of the stories in this series tells us a little more about the other members of the family and their interactions with each other.
Waiting For Wednesday is more dramatic than previous books in the Wild Iris series. Mari Carr weaves domestic violence and stroke victim rehab into the love story of Tristan and Lane. Friends first, these two build a relationship that is passionate and swoon worthy. But her ex is lurking and could spell major trouble for Lane. Tris vows to protect her and enlists family when events turn dangerous
Spoiler Alert and TW: end scene has an attempted ______ and some SA surviors or readers might find it upsetting
Overall read was great. I think Lane's "duh" moment about Tris's attraction was funny. Most guys don't hit on married women and I like that she was unaware until all of his "accidental" touches started affecting her. Glad this series is on KU and I wish they spinoff would be too. More reading to get to.
Loved this book. Lane is married to an abusive jerk and finally after the latest beating, she leaves him and moves away. Tristan searches for her frantically but gives up when he can't find her. A year later she returns to town and they get their second chance at happiness. That is, if her ex will leave her alone.
I really enjoyed this story and will definitely read the rest of the series.
Mari Carr rocks!!!! After reading the first 2 books of this series I'm hooked. Mari Carr has captured the true essence of what big family life is like in these books. I totally recommend this book to who treasure sex, love, and life.
It has been a very beautiful story. I liked how Lane managed to overcome the abuse and demonstrate independence while still believing in love. From Tristán I loved her protection towards her but without depriving her of her personality.
Another winner! Book three of this series is about forbidden love! He was her friend, nothing more as she was married. Each of them waited for Wednesdays to catch up on the weeks events. I love how we get to know more about the main characters while catching up on the rest of this busy family! Can’t wait to read “Sweet Thursday”.
Nope... DNF at 50%. How stupid do you have to be to give your abusive exp husband not only your cell number but to tell him where you luve. All for a picture he is using as obvious bait. The heroine is TSTL. Not wasting my time on the rest of it.
A third in the series of the Collins family with 7 grown children and this is Tristan’s story. The love of his life disappears after being beaten by her husband but returns after a year. Lane’s ex keeps re as paring and making life difficult.
while the writing is impeccable and the sex scenes were hot, I felt the recovering from abuse storyline could have been handled better. There was a lot of emotional details glossed over. This was still a decent fast, sweet and sexy mf erotica in this series.
