Internet sensation, Kazimir Skokan, is loved around the world for his luxury photoshoots and envious lifestyle. But Felix Quaid has never hated a man more. Ex-investigative journalist turned true-crime podcaster, Felix knows something is off with playboy Kazi. From the late-night back-alley meetings to the people around him who later vanish, behind Kazimir’s flashy smile, he’s rotten to his core. Not to mention rumors of darker, dangerous, some-say supernatural occurrences around Kazimir. Felix even has photos to prove it.

But the last time he tried to expose Kazimir Skokan, his story was inexplicably shut down, taking Felix’s career as a reporter with it. Kazimir owes him the truth. And Felix is going to make sure the whole world knows it.

*

Kazi has new orders. Kill Felix Quaid. The Blackrose Brotherhood leader, Mikalis, is never wrong. But in this, Kazi disagrees. Sure, Quaid is a pest, perhaps even a stalker, but no more than any other overzealous fan. Still, what Mikalis wants, Mikalis gets. And what’s another dead meat-bag to Kazi anyway? He stopped caring who lived and who died long ago.

Making Quaid disappear should have been easy. But in Quaid’s final, crucial moments, a pack of cult members kidnap them both, mistaking Quaid for a member of the brotherhood. Now, trapped together, their time running out, Kazi must work with Quaid if they’re to survive the insane Nyx-worshipping acolytes.

But as soon as they escape, Mikalis’s orders still stand: Quaid must die.

Kazi thought he’d long ago given up on caring who lived and who died. Apparently, he was wrong…

I was provided an e-copy of the book by the author (and I am ever so thankful for that!) in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

✅ Characters
✅ 2 POVs
✅ Expanding world-building
✅ Vampires
✅ Pace and action
✅ Plot
✅ Beginning of hate-to-love
🆗 Hate-to-love turns into almost insta-love
🆗 Villain
❗️❗️Trigger warnings: blood, death, kidnapping, and torture

This book follows Kazi, another member of the Brotherhood, a celebrity on social media, and Felix, a disgraced reporter that lost everything when he tried to expose Kazi’s secrets. Felix has been hunting the Brotherhood since then, and he is more determined than ever to show the world that Kazi is not what he seems. The two of them inevitably clash when Mikalis orders Kazi to get rid of Felix (meaning: kill him), but they end up being kidnapped by a crazy cult while in the middle of their fight.

This series is very good, the main reason why I’m not giving it 4.5 stars or 5 stars as I did for Ariana Nash’s other series is that I find it more difficult to get invested in the romance when it happens over only one book as is the case with the books of this series that are kind of standalone linked together. I much prefer a series of 2-3 books where the relationship develops over a longer period and we have more time to get into the depth of the characters. That being said, for a “standalone” the romance was quite well done, with just the right amount of sexual tension, smut, and more emotional/cute moments. I also liked to see glimpses of Zaine and Eric in this book.

Murder and sex made for an okay evening. Better than being alone.

Kazi has an interesting backstory, and I like that he has a dark past and that it shaped him into who he is today. His purpose with the Brotherhood comes from his guilt and remorse, and it pushes him to try to make the world a better place and to redeem himself. I also like that while he feels guilty about his past, he also realizes that it was many centuries ago, and he doesn’t live in a depressive state because of it. A part of me finds it a little unbelievable that he’s never experienced love before, but on the other hand, it made his relationship with Felix very sweet. It was cute to see him experience those feelings and their intensity for the first time.

Quaid squared up to him. “You took everything from me, you suave prick.” Interesting insult. Curiously complimentary.

While Kazi had an interesting backstory and had a complexity to him, Felix came off as a little bland when compared to Kazi. Felix has a backstory too, and there is character development, but I didn’t really connect with him. Let’s just say that I found Kazi much more appealing.

”Help me and I will fight for you, against them, against the Brotherhood. I don’t want to lose myself Felix. I can’t be the blood prince again. Save me from that and I’ll save you from them.”

I like the fact that Feliz and Kazi have kind of a shared past, even if it’s really brief. It had a huge impact on Felix’s life and made him hate Kazi and blame him for all his failures since then. When they both ended up being kidnapped by a crazy cult, they had no choice but to put their hatred and annoyance for each other aside and to work together to survive, and while I find the development of the romance to be too quick, it was still a nice foundation for a hate-to-love romance.

The smallest moments were often the most powerful and the most devastating.

As I said at the beginning of the review, I tend to enjoy series more than standalone books, because the romance often feels a little too much like insta-love in standalones. It is normal because the author has to fit everything in only one book, but if you are not a fan of insta-love romances, you might struggle a little bit with the romances in this series. There is still relationship building and good development because if this was pure insta-love I would not be giving it 4 stars for sure as I really don’t enjoy insta-love, but it’s not a slow-burn either. This one is walking the fine line between insta-love and more normal slower-built romance, but I still enjoyed the book as a whole because of the characters and the world-building that keeps expanding with each book of the series.

”I’m pretty sure I hit him with a frying pan. Probably a first for both of us.”
Kazi chuckled. He was certain nobody had ever hit Mikalis with a frying pan.

When Mikalis smiled, someone was either about to have their ass handed to them or win the lottery. It could go either way.

This book made me even more curious about Mikalis’ past and what awaits him when he finally gets his book. I know the author is probably planning on keeping him for the end, which makes sense, but I found his character to be much more interesting and compelling in this book. He is still cold and ruthless, but he also showed hints of emotions such as caring for his brothers, and there is clearly more to him than what little we learned through Zaine and Kazi. I admit that I wasn’t a fan of him in the first book, although I did find him intriguing, but I am actually starting to like him now…

Overall, this is a good book if you are looking for a kinda fast-paced hate-to-love romance with vampires, a too-curious human, morally grey and shady characters, some suspense, and quite a lot of action.

“Do this, and I will protect you,” Kazi whispered. Felix watched his lips move, forming the words. “Help me and I will fight for you, against them, against the Brotherhood. I don't want to lose myself, Felix. I can't be the blood prince again. Save me from that and I'll save you from them.”
Felix looked up into startlingly beautiful eyes. “Who is going to save me from you?”

OH. I LOVED THIS. way more than i had expected to... and thank god i did bc i've been in a huge reading slump lately, but i was excited for Kazi's book so when i got the arc, i had to read it. although i liked the first book, i wasn't in love with Zaine and Eric (mcs of book one). but Kazi and Felix (especially my bb Kazi, i knew i was gonna love him)?? the dynamic they had completely pulled me in. i loved the mix of their enemies to lovers banter while seeing Kazi being whipped for his man. i mean-

Kazi leaned against the edge of the table and pulled Felix between his knees. “Baby, if your blood is bad for me, then let it poison me, because I can't say no.”
description

what i loved about Kazi's backstory (excluding the pain and suffering he went through, i mean) is, despite how he's a vampire who's lived on for centuries, the fact that he's never felt love for anyone the way he felt for Felix bc he was turned at a young age and never had that experience (even back when he was still human) just made me love their romance even more bc i adored seeing Kazi go through emotions of dealing with first love, basically. it made him being whipped even more cuter to me. with that aside, when it comes to his past and what he went through, i just wanted to give him a hug. :(

although i'm excited for each of the vampires' stories and seeing them fall in love, this book just made me even more curious about Mikalis. 👀

p.s. of course i can't speak for the future books yet, but the first two books leans more towards insta love than slow burn so if you prefer AN's slow burn, well... just a fyi to not expect it from the first two books. i think you may enjoy it more with that knowledge. i did love Kazi and Felix's dynamic to the point where i didn't care in the end though lol.

thank you so much to Ariana Nash for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review!

Hot, angsty, bad-boy vamps... OUT NOW!

"Famous for looking pretty? What a joke. Kazimir was tall, pale, with jaw-length black hair that held a hint of a wave. He had one of those faces that was probably classified as ugly in high school, with too many sharp lines, pouting lips and a feminine glamor to his eyes. Even Felix could admit the prick was pretty. His smile lit up the damned room. And his laugh… Well, fuck. That was just another reason for Felix to hate him."

"Kazimir was a liar. Worse than that, he was a killer, and Felix was the only damn person who saw it."

I loved Violent Desire, the first book in Ariana Nash's stunning new Blackrose Brotherhood series, but I have to say I loved Felix and Kazi's story in Violent Mistake even more! 🖤

Recall, this is a set of quasi-standalone books about a different couple each time but set in the same universe, with an underlying thread tying them all together. I would suggest you read them in order for that reason.

So, we have a group of vampires essentially policing their own species in an attempt to maintain some semblance of control, to keep the line between humans and the supernatural world separate and blurred and to protect the (dispensible) humans, basically as a by-product of that overarching goal. The Blackrose Brotherhood will stop at nothing to achieve this and everything and everyone else is expendable. Secrecy is paramount.

Kazi is one of the oldest of the Order and has little time for humans. Until he meets Felix. Felix is an investigative reporter, who has an uncanny sense that something is 'not right' about Kazi, and a dogged and relentless energy to uncover and expose the mystery surrounding him.

Felix hates Kazi with a vengeance, since (in his view) he destroyed his perfect life and his perfect (or not-so-perfect as it later transpires😈) marriage.

But sometimes there is a fine line between hate and love, and when Kazi and Felix are forced into close proximity for an extended period of time, inner demons and hidden passions rise to the surface, leaving both of them shocked to the core.

So many fabulous tropes in this one too and such amazing world building and story development. Highly recommended if you love:

❣️Enemies to lovers
❣️Forced proximity
❣️First times
❣️MM dark romance
❣️PNR

As always with an Ariana Nash book, it's a must have read for me!

How did I miss the Brotherhood visiting Poland? Damn it!! 😱🤣

Thirty years old, and still not immune to tropey vampire romance… yeah, that’s me. 💃 But how can I resist, when it’s been written by the amazing Ariana Nash herself? So I didn’t even try. 😌

Despite a few minor niggles — like my arch-nemesis, insta-love, strongly present in every book — this series is one of my guilty pleasures, and I await each new volume with bated breath. Still waiting for that vamp/vamp couple, though. 😏

Overall it was a pretty enjoyable book. It took me some time to warm up to Felix but that’s because we are never told why did Felix hate Kazi so much, how did Kazi ruined his life? And because of this lack of information I found Felix to be very unfair to Kazi and I felt like he blamed him for no reason at all (though a great part of the hatred was in fact because he felt attracted to him). Despite the enemies to lovers trope there is an insta love , just like in the previous book - I was expecting it so it didn’t bother me that much. Also, it is not a standalone and it’s better to have read the first one as it will give you a broader understanding of the Brotherhood, their dynamics and all that.. What else can I say? I loved Kazi and I liked the plot and the action scenes even more than the romance and more than in the previous book.

Violent Mistake is the second book in the Blackrose Brotherhood series by Ariana Nash and I am so loving these morally gray vamps!! These books are full of action and the pacing is fast, so fast in fact that you might just miss some hidden clues along the way. Nash likes to foreshadow, but she does it in such a subtle and sneaky way that you can easily miss it. It's not until you finish reading and think back that the light bulb goes off. Sometimes it's several books later even. My highlight game is strong with this author because I never know what might end up being important to remember later.

The romantic elements of this series are more prevalent, which is not typical of this author. I have to say I really am enjoying this aspect. Nash can write a romance well, but usually focuses more on the plot to move the story than the romance. The Blackrose Brotherhood series has both plot and romance in semi equal measure. I loved it. It was great getting to know Kazi better, to see his "softer" side behind his sarcastic quips. These vamps may appear to be unfeeling and cold, but it's more than obvious they feel things and deeply, at least when it comes to their mates.

Felix was a bit of a mental health crisis in human form and could definitely have benefited from the services of a therapist. Then again, to fall for someone who attempted to murder you, you kind of have to be a bit cray cray. That's not even to touch on the rest of the shitstorm that Felix gets pulled into after joining up with Kazi. Of course it doesn't hurt that Kazi is utterly devoted to his human and proves more than once that Felix is his number one above all, including the Brotherhood.

I loved that we got a few chapters of Zaine in this one as well. It gave us a glimpse of what was going on behind the scenes while Kazi and Felix were off doing their own thing. Zaine may be the youngest of the vampire bunch, but he's definitely not the dumbest. He and Eric are well aware that they are not being told everything and are understandably weary of the trickle of information they are being told about the genetic anomalies in the human mates. Mikalis is certainly brutal AF in this book, but we also get to know him a bit better too. I honestly think he believes his actions are right, even when they are so far from right it's laughable.

I can't end this review without touching on Saint. Remember him, the person who's locked up in the super secret room at the Vamp base? We may or may not finally find out just who he is and why he's been confined for so long. There is definitely way more to his story than we are told, but at least it settled a bit of my bursting curiosity. I have a feeling we are going to be seeing much more of him later and I really really hope we eventually get his book. He's too intriguing for me not to want to know it all.

This book was WILD!!!

Everything was perfect! Their dialogues flowed seamlessly and their chemistry was great! There weren't too many sex scenes which I think felt perfect with the curve of the book. Being one of the starter volumes of the series it was able to generate my intrigue and curiosity for the future books and the arc. The side charcters didn't get much appearance in this book as they did in the 1st one. Mikalis is my favv because I can't decide whether he is a villain or simply an anti-hero. And I love how everyone just keeps saying "you don't know who/what he is", lol. I can't wait for his book. Even Saint (the room mystery). One of the brothers is shown as the betrayer but is he really? Or is there going to be a twist?!

As for the current MCs I felt their story actually ended mid book only. The rest part, although exciting, felt was added only to increase the length. I mean how stupid can you be to go the centre of the nest of an ancient vampire??!!!! Anyway, other than this stupidity, I liked how the 2 MCs communicated and got their HFN.

Can't wait for everything to unfold.

So I'll be honest, for the first maybe half of the book I didn't think I'd like this one as much as the first book. But Kazi and Felix ended up stealing my heart! And the world building just continues to get more interesting with each book. It's got the typical dark side of Nash's works, but the love stories are more insta-love and a little more swoony and I am hear for it. This one had a good mix of enemies to lovers and eventually very very dedicated love (okay, Kazi was a little obsessive). Definitely going to continue this series as I can't wait to see how each of the vamps love lives turn out!

So ... I love Ariana Nash and although the first book in this series was not perfect, I really enjoyed it.
Therefore I was curious how the second book would fare

And it was good but it had some weaknesses:
It took me some to.e yo get into it.
In the first two chapters I didn't like Kazi and Felix and it took me afterwards a bit more time to start liking Felix at all.

But the story was really interesting and I enjoyed the development of the world building.

And especially I loved how Kazi and Felix developed ... and it was great to see Zaine again.

So, although the start was a bit difficult the book improved with each chapter and I absolutely loved the last third of the book. It was very intense and promised a lot of action for the next books.
It will be interesting to see whose book comes next: maybe Storms.

An ARC was provided by GRR and I am happy to give my honest opinion

Little things

Does anyone have a spare heart they can lend? Mine is in tatters after reading this. Good tatters, the best kind really, but it’s gonna be awhile before I fully recover.

“‘Whatever love is, and whatever I feel for that man, I know I’ll kill for him... I’d die for him. But it’s more than even that. I’d walk away from him too if he asked it of me. If that is not love, then love does not exist.’”

Ka-thunk, that is the sound of my heart, falling and falling for Felix and Kazi. I didn’t know what was missing from my life until I found these two, but I do know that love most definitely exists and it’s in the form of one wounded vampire and one contrary, dogged human. There’s something about Kazi and Felix that makes you want to sweep them up in your arms, keep them safe, and yet, still have this itch, this urge to let them loose in the world to see what chaos they can cause. Perhaps there’s a bit of Nyx in all of us. I am loving how this fantastic series is developing, and oh so many questions and theories I have, but I am invested, maybe even addicted, to this dark and dangerous world of The Blackrose Brotherhood, and their unending secrets.

“What happened to hating me?”
“That’s still a thing. Just because you’ve saved my ass a few times doesn’t change that.” He chuckled again. “You have a very fine ass, Quaid.”

Some mysteries were solved but now we have new ones to keep our minds busy. I love the turn the main plot is taking and can’t wait to see how it’s going to develop in future installments. As usual with this type of series, my personal favorite moments were when all of the brotherhood were together. I hope that some characters could redeem themselves in the future because I really want a book about them. And of course, Mikalis and Saint are added to my delusional list of characters that I ship without any rational reason, it’s just me wishing to happen.

description

Compared to other series by this author, Felix and Kaz’s relationship is pretty low angst. But, between book 1 and this installment here there is some more resistance before they fall in love. It’s incredible how they could start loving each other with all the things they had to go through. Not one single moment to rest. I loved their little arguments.
Seeing Kaz’s other side, all his regrets and sorrow. And Felix understanding him, while trying to process a whole new world where vampires are a thing and also his own personal baggage.

A sassy vampire and a prying journalist. A little bit of love/hate. I have no clue who are going to be the next MCs but I can’t wait to read about them!

Digital ARC review, thank you!

First of all: I liked it way better than the first. It was more in the flow of the story though we got kind of an insta love in this one. In the beginning Felix hated Kazi and makes him responsible for everything he lost in his life. That is how they get close to each other in the first place and it happens very fast.
The hatred was still there but it changed.

The storyline was well developed and I liked that part of it took place in Poland. That was a very fitting setting for a vampire story.

It had all the good elements and it was a joy to read it: suspense, shady characters, witty dialogues (the frying pan was the best) and lots of heartbreaking moments.

The supportive ex-wife is not very realistic but I liked her a lot. It gives a glimpse into Felix's life before he got sucked into the vamp world. Rosa is awesome, too.

Overall I really enjoyed it and already look forward to the next one ☺

I enjoyed Violent Mistake by Ariana Nash but not as much as Violent Desire. The story follows Kazi - a celebrity in social media and Felix a reporter that lost everything after he tried exposing the secrets of Kazi and the Brotherhood. When Mikalis orders Kazi to kill Felix, the two men eventually clash. However, when a crazy cult that worshipped Nyx kidnapped them, things took a turn that neither were expecting.

This book has one of my favorite tropes - enemies to lovers. I liked how the relationship between the two leads developed throughout. They've gone through a lot together and they really deserve that happy ending for them. It was nice to learn that there was more to Kazi than his beauty. Finding out he was one of the oldest in the Brotherhood alongside Mikalis was a surprise. Kazi's dark past has shaped the person he is and his motivations. It was cute seeing him fall in love and experience the intensity of that feeling.

This book is actually fast-paced despite not grabbing my attention initially. There's a nice balance of moving the plot along and the romance aspect. I liked the world-building and the additional information given and enjoyed the over-arching plot for the series. I'm looking forward to how everything will get wrapped up in the end. Also, I am now more curious about Mikalis and Saint. The small snippets about Saint and the little background we got of Mikalis was such a teaser.

The relationship between the two main characters toed the line of insta-love. There was enough build-up to their love story but it was definitely not a slow-burn romance. Keep that in mind if ever you pick up this book.

Overall, Violent Mistake was an entertaining, nicely paced, paranormal romance with some nice action set-pieces, an enemies to lovers trope and a bit of forced proximity. If you like those things, do give this a try.

This would be 4.25 stars out of 5 stars.

ARC Review: “Violent Mistake”, Book 2 of Ariana Nash’s Blackrose Brotherhood series. Check your triggers!

Welp. This one just happened. And I’m still reeling from it. In the best worst ways, as we have all come to expect from @ariananashauthor

I could NOT put this book down. I was sucked into the vampire action immediately and then spit out the other side, filled with a strangely lingering sadness, yet somehow still so satisfied and warm.

A LOT happens in this story, as we follow Quaid and Kazi into and out of more trouble than any two characters should have to deal with in the course of one book. Talk about whiplash! They’re jerked from situation to situation, kidnapped and tortured, tricked and troubled, and yet still find time to have some very steamy intimate moments that helped break up the constant sense of urgency thrumming through the pages.

I love a good enemies to lovers/slow-burn story, and this was no exception. I did think their hate turned to love a bit eagerly - and I wasn’t entirely clear on where that hate came from in the first place - but the action kept me reading so quickly that I didn’t really mind the specifics. I loved seeing Zaine & Eric (from book 1) in action again, and believe me, there was action.

That Cave Scene thoroughly wrecked me. I mean, I could barely read through my brimming tears and I rarely ever cry over books. IYKYK, and hopefully you’ll all know soon when you pick this up on launch day, December 30th!

Violent Mistake

Dangerously thrilling and deliciously steamy!
An emotional rollercoaster of twists and turns that had me on the edge of my seat. I loved the characters and really enjoyed how their relationship developed and changed throughout the story.
The new unpredictable changes left me wishing for more and I can’t wait to see where this series goes from here.

Instant favorite. A lot of plot and action to keep you engaged and unable to put the book down.
The romance in this was lovely and it hit all the right buttons.

Though this story starts with a lot of action and drama, it took me a while to get into it, not sure why. Maybe because the story reminded me a lot of the first book in this series. Anyway, though there was a lot of action in this story, it failed to get me really hooked and I couldn’t really feel the suspense. As with the first book, to me, there was almost no angst. It was just another easy read that didn’t completely succeed in hooking me.
I would also strongly recommend reading the first book in this series so you can understand better what’s going on. I think it might be confusing if you don’t have the extra information from the first book. Also, we get some more answers about the Brotherhood in this book, which I greatly enjoyed. This series is clearly leading up to something big, with each book getting closer to unravelling all the secrets.

Almost all of the book is told from the POV from either Felix or Kazi, with a couple of exceptions where the story is told through Zaine’s POV. I loved reading more about Zaine (and Eric)! That being said, it also was a break from Felix’ and Kazi’s story and I’m not really convinced we needed Zaine’s POV at all.

I also had a hard time buying the hatred between the two main characters, since this story is supposed to be an enemies to lovers. However, we never really got an answer as to why Felix hates Kazi so much, how exactly he had ruined Felix’ live before. There was also clearly desire from the beginning as well, which kind of overshadowed the supposedly hatred he felt for Kazi.
As for Kazi, there was instant lust, a sudden break from his bad boy persona once he got to know Felix a bit more. He did change a lot throughout the story, but since we didn’t really know anything about him in the first place, the character development was a bit lost to me. He is supposed to be a bad, morally grey character, but he is actually really sweet (to Felix anyway).

Even though this story didn’t held a lot of suspense/angst/surprises for me, I still really enjoyed reading it. I like getting to know the members of the Brotherhood better, getting more answers to the mysteries revealed and reading about the sweet moments between this morally grey characters and their partners. This is definitely a good read for those who like vampires (NOT the glittery kind), a secret society, mankind in danger and sweet romance alongside.

P.s. One thing I have to say: I have a huge amount of willing suspense of disbelieve, especially when reading fantasy/paranormal stories. However, when you have sex with someone who is a virgin, would it really hurt (pun intended) to use some lube and proper prep? Unless there is magic involved or something, to make everything easy and enjoyable. Clearly, this wasn’t an issue here, and everyone involved enjoyed themselves. It was just me cringing while reading.

It's so odd to me that all the other series by this author are so well done, but this one is so mediocre. It wasn't bad (except the parts with the ex and daughter, which were not believable at all), but nothing close to the quality I expect from Nash.

A Joyfully Jay review.

4.5 stars

With only a couple days left in 2022, Ariana Nash slides in with a book that definitely moves into a top spot of books I’ve read for the year. Violent Mistake follows Violent Desire in the Blackrose Brotherhood series and features vampire Kazi. This book took off at a much faster pace than the first book and opened up more of the story of not only Kazi’s past, but the legacy of the Brotherhood.

Kazi is thousands of years old and he’s had a tumultuous and devastating life. His allegiance is to the Brotherhood and ridding the world of the rabid vampires that are being created. He has a bond with his brothers, but he has no love in his life. His internet persona enables him to have whoever he wants in his bed, but it all means nothing to him and he’s so lonely, except he can’t even recognize it anymore.

his book really ignited my interest in this series and I’m looking forward to continuing the story of the men we have already met, while also learning more about the rest of the Brotherhood. This is an exciting series to finish off 2022 or to start in the new year.

I pushed through this one, but it left me more irritated than invested.

🍑 The sex scenes: Way too much detail, way too often. A fade-to-black or a lean into emotional beats would’ve served the story better. Instead, I found myself skimming pages just to get back to the action. The pacing suffered for it.

🏳️‍🌈 Felix’s sexuality: The book keeps hammering that he was “really gay all along,” which completely erases the obvious reality that he’s bisexual or pan. I would’ve honestly assumed the author was American, because this kind of bi-erasure feels so tied to the US cultural framing where sexuality is seen as binary - you’re either straight or gay, nothing in between. But sexuality isn’t binary. You can be 20% attracted to women and 80% or 100% attracted to men and still be bi or pan. Flattening that into “secretly gay” cheapens Felix’s journey and feeds a trope that queer readers are tired of.

💍 Julia: Easily the most frustrating part of the book. She’s written with remarkable grace and generosity, yet the narrative undercuts her at every turn. Felix couldn’t even say “I love you” back as family - something that would have cost him nothing but meant everything. It reduces her to a stepping stone for his new romance, which left a bitter aftertaste.

👨‍👧 Felix as a Deadbeat Dad: The book frames Felix as an upstanding, morally complex hero - wronged by the Brotherhood, struggling but noble, redeemed by love. Yet in reality, his behaviour toward Rosa would make him a deadbeat dad. He disappears for six months without a single call, puts his guilt and self-pity above her needs, and only re-engages on his own terms. Instead of interrogating this neglect, the narrative rewards and absolves him - Julia is forgiving, Rosa is welcoming, and Kazi validates him - turning his failings into “tragic depth” rather than accountability.

Overall, the book was okay - I finished it, but more out of stubbornness than joy. There’s some decent action and the bones of an interesting world, but the character handling and representation issues really wore me down. I don’t think I’ll continue with the series.

Violent Mistake is the second in the Blackrose Brotherhood series. It can be read as a standalone, bur is best read in order after Violent Desire. I seriously loved the first book in this series, but I think I loved this one more!! Felix has fallen from grace and has a passionate hatred for Kazi. Kazi has orders to take him out, but that backfires and they end up trapped together. Seriously loving these morally grey vamps that police their own! Violent Mistake is a little steamier than what I’m used to reading in Nash’s stories but they did a fantastic job with the plot. I seriously need more!! Overall, I loved this story, truly phenomenal! Well written with fantastic pacing. Highly recommend.

***Received an eARC of this novel from GRR in exchange for an honest review***

I am kind of sad that the book got over this fast. It was not enough I want more of Kazi and Felix.
They are a power couple, so perfect with each other. They are by far my favorite couple in this series.
Loved this hate angel in the beginning and how it transitioned into love and support was commendable.
It was entertaining and very fast faced with plenty of action and fun elements. The romance between the two is hot and intense.
Loving the way the story takes the route and I am having high expectations for the next installment. Can't wait for the next brother to fall in love and evolve the storyline.

“I’m immortal. If we wreck, I’m just gonna get right back up.” “Put the damn belt on!” Felix snapped.

The first book for 2023 is done and dusted. Nothing better than starting the year off with an Ariana Nash book.

“Zaine!” Mikalis yelled. “You have three seconds to explain why you just tried to run me down with a car.” Zaine winced and kept his hand raised. “The grass is wet. The tires lost grip. That’s not the point—”

I'm loving where this story is going. All the little twist and turns. It's so good when you find a decent vampire romance book. Let alone a series. Can't wait to see which vamp is next up.

I own and have read every Ariana nash book and loved them all but this series is different from her previous works most of her series are the same couples this one is different as it’s a different couple of every book in the series meeting the brotherhood in the last book was interesting and an adventure this time seeing more of them the mystery still surrounding the leader of the brotherhood I’m so hooked !! Kazi and Felix are amazing together this book has so much going on so much character development some plots unraveled that I think will slowly be revealed in each new book in this series ! I wanna know so much about each of these brothers ! Fast paced action packed, hot and steamy I freaking loved it !
