Tom Derry, doing what he knows to be right, gets himself into a series of life threatening kerfuffles, largest of all Maria Carey. It’s really their tale, Jim Silver and Taxi and Frosty the wolf are just seasoning. The story feels effortless which isnt to say cliche or wasted. Side characters getting their own fleshed out novel was a smart idea for this long running series which went 13 books, this being the 11th.
