I started fly tying recently after an extended hospital stay. I read this book cover to cover while in the hospital since I wasn’t actually able to tie flies yet and I wanted to familiarize myself with patterns, materials, and techniques. I also read several similar books from other authors/publishers simultaneously. I held off my review until after I’ve tied about 20 flies (5-6) patterns from this book and others. The instructions in this book were much more clear for beginners and contained every detailed step and technique. I found this to be much easier to follow and learn from compared to others. Knowing this detail gave me confidence to experiment and learn skill more than just follow a pattern. Would highly recommend.
