HOT BLOODED
Convicted of a grisly murder he didn’t commit, Teague Creek has nothing to lose. In a desperate escape, he abducts a hostage to use as leverage, only to find out he’s taken the wrong woman. Soon, it’s clear not only the cops and the FBI are hunting him, but his ugly past has joined the chase. And while Alyssa Foster may not be the woman he needs, she turns out to be the only woman he wants.
Alyssa is nearing the conclusion of her radiology fellowship with an amazing job on the horizon, but when she’s abducted by a prison inmate, her coveted position at the hospital she loves is put at risk. Creek has powers she doesn’t understand and a heart that tells her he’s not a hardened criminal. But when Alyssa digs in to help him, she finds something much darker than she expected. Undercover operatives want Creek silenced and they don’t care who they have to take out to suceed.
If someone asked me to describe this book in one sentence I would say ‘Anxiety Inducing’! Throughout the book my BP was quite high with how things were going.
I felt so much for Teague Creek! Throughout the book I was thinking God, give that man a break he’s been through so much already. I hated all his adversaries and the injustices done to him. His meeting and kidnapping of Alyssa was the best thing that happened to him in years. I loved the sh*t out of Alyssa. She was such a strong badass heroine and I’m in awe of her strength, courage and generous heart. The plot was so so gripping and thrilling. There is conspiracy, betrayal, injustice, loyalty, passion and action. And it’s fast paced and written so beautifully.
The reason I didn’t give it 5🌟 is because, the ending felt a bit rushed when I wanted it to be so much longer after the whole fiasco. And some of the questions leading the plot didn’t get answered. I hate loose ends in the book. Maybe they will get solved in book 2 but I think next is Luke’s book and I didn’t particularly warmed up to him in this book because of his attitude towards Teague. Also it’s going to be a second chance romance and it’s said in this book that Luke is a player. So high chance that book is going to irritate me in parts.
But this book did have an HFN ending and it’s a really enjoyable book so recommended and included in KU.
Safe.
I received an advance review copy and I’m leaving this review voluntarily.
I loved this book. It sucked me in right from the start. Skye Jordan’s books have never disappointed me!
Alyssa Foster is competing for a full time position in a hospital and has worked non stop. Covering for one of the other staff members she is called to examine a convicted criminal Teague Creek. That’s when the action starts and it’s not stop from that point.
Teague kidnaps Alyssa believing she is the doctor that Alyssa was covering for and makes his escape along with another prisoner who is definitely not one of the good guys.
Through their time together Alyssa battles with her conscience to uncover whether Teague is the good guy her gut is telling her or if he is the bad guy the media is portraying him to be. She fights him every step of the way even when in life threatening situations she shows her strength. She also finds herself falling for him.
Teague is strong and fiercely determined to have his freedom as he has something and someone to fight for. Having had everyone turn against him he is slow to trust but finds himself drawn to Alyssa although he doesn’t think he is able to offer her anything.
This book has action, steam and a slight hint of what is termed paranormal. I wouldn’t let this put you off as it’s not paranormal in the sense of magic, vampires or shifters more that Teague has developed an ability as a result of his situation.
I can’t wait to read more in this series.
Thanks to the author #NetGalley and the publisher for the arc of this story. This is my honest review. Publish date is 1 March
Hot Blooded by Skye Jordan absolutely sucked me in from the first chapter. This is a definite action packed story with some spice! Hot blooded is the story of Alyssa Foster and Teague Creek's journey. Alyssa Foster is feisty hard-working doctor fighting for the position she wants at the hospital she works at. Teague Creek was a former paramedic and firefighter before his life changed and he got paranormal powers and sent to jail. All he wants is to escape and reunite with his daughter, Kat. In his escape he captures Alyssa in the hope to use her as leverage without realizing she isn't the woman he planned on taking. Follow Alyssa and Teague's journey in Hot Blooded!
SPICE 1/5 🌶 Just the right amount of spicy scenes in this romance novel. I loved seeing Teague and Alyssa's relationship evolve in the story as the romance was well-written.
Would I recommend Hot Blooded? Yes! This is a great urban fantasy slow-burn romance novel with a hint of some paranormal activity!
e-book provided by NetGalley and publisher (Thank you!) All thoughts and opinions are mine. REVIEWED: 3/11/2023
Enjoyable read, but I found it slow in places, first time for me with this author.
I found the characters wonderful and loved the chemistry they had, and the story was good too. The plot and the setting were really good and kept me interested. Maybe I will try more and see if I can find a new direction for my reading.
Many thx to Netgally for the Arc I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review
2.5⭐️ Thank you Netgalley for sending me a copy of this book❤️
Action Packed Firefighters with powers, angst and tension, and constant suspense. Get ready for a lot to go down!!
This book was new to me. (Thinking now, that’s probably why I didn’t connect the way I would have liked). It kinda felt like it was trying to be a dark romance but it was mainly action. The powers wasn’t like Fantasy, it was more like Sci-Fi.
The highest part of my rating came from the storytelling. It was nonstop action (but in a good way). You were on the edge of your seat the whole time! My attention was always there and I never wanted to look away. You’re probably wondering. Where’s the disconnect then? Shhh listen. I couldn’t connect with it:( It was like I was trying to force a relationship with someone I really couldn’t.
I also really thought this would be more romance. Did I get some really good tension moments? ABSOLUTELY. That’s why you gotta jump into books not knowing a lot so you can’t expect everything.
Sorry this was a sucky review. But it’s been so hard to find words lately. Give this one a try❤️
This is a slow burn, enemies to lovers novel with some spice, action and sexy firefighters.
When I read the synopsis, I was immediately intrigued - a firefighter, with powers, wrongly convicted of murder kidnaps a doctor and they fall in love? What could go wrong?
Overall, I enjoyed this book. If I don’t like a book, I usually just give up and don’t finish it. I went through this one pretty fast. I’m also a sucker for enemies to lovers books.
The first half of the book seemed to drag on at times. While I understand Teague was on the run, it seemed repetitive at times especially with Taz’s character. He was a gross, perverted psychopath. Let’s just say I wasn’t sad when he died.
Even if it was slow at times though, it still held my attention and I was rooting for the main character Teague, who ultimately got a shitty hand in life and just wanted his daughter back.
It was easy to like him. He was protective, rough around the edges and caring. I found it easy to feel sympathy for him.
Also…the author did a good job at telling the readers just how sexy this man is. I was hooked from the moment he was on the page.
Teagues power comes up a lot, and we really get to see him grow and harness this power. But I wish we learned more about his backstory - what chemicals caused this in him? What did the government do to him and Luke when they experimented? I think we need more background. But maybe that’s something she’s saving for the other books?
I didn’t mind Alyssa, but at times I kind of just found her annoying. But that annoying personality is what kept her alive, and I think the author portrayed Alyssa’s strength and compassion very well.
I liked the secondary characters like Mitch and Luke, I found Mitch especially fun. Mitch was Alyssa’s twin brother. He turned out to be a badass. I’d read a book just about him.
Overall, I thought the book was good and if you’re looking for a quick, fun and sexy read I’d say give it a go.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
[Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the ebook. This review is my honest opinion but just another opinion, you should read this book and judge it by yourself]
1.25/5 stars! This is a paranormal romance with an almost superhero-creation-story aspect. I was excited by the premise and hopeful for this book. However, I really struggled to enjoy this story. The portrayal of Alyssa as a doctor was extremely unrealistic and honestly made me feel icky considering I've spent the last 5 years of my life getting my own doctorate. We are taught to use critical thinking, create boundaries in our lives, and how to analyze complex concepts and yet she lets herself enter an abusive relationship with Creek. There were also some issues with the way she chose to portray some of the side characters that made me uncomfortable. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this book.
I received an advance review copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I read this in one sitting because I had to know what happened. Everything seemed to happen so fast. One second Alyssa is going in to check on a prisoner at the hospital, the next she is being kidnapped by him and another scary prisoner and put into a car as collateral. Alyssa can tell there is more to Teague (prisoner) than meets the eye. He is trying to be scary and failing. He is trying to be demanding and failing. She finds herself wanting to help him and wanting to learn more about him. She learns that a few years ago him and some fellow firefighters were sent to put a fire out in a warehouse that turned out to have some sort of chemicals in it that gave them all super powers. She learns that he has a daughter and is fighting to get to her. She is his top priority. Alyssa realizes that she is a goner for this man- they may not have met under the best circumstances but she is willing to put herself and her career on the line to help him.
Teague tries to hold off from acting on his feelings for as long as he can, but he is only a man. He realizes right off the bat that he has kidnapped the wrong woman and that the man he thought hated him is actually looking out for his daughter. He realizes he didn’t lose his family in the tragic accident that got him framed for murder years ago. He realizes that he has something to live for now and that isn’t just his daughter.
I liked the rollercoaster of emotions in this one. We were in danger and then we were peeling back layers of emotions. We were angry and then things got steamy. I am looking forward to reading the next two books. The reason I jumped into this one is because I received the ARC for book 3 and read a review that you need to read the first two to have a handle on what is happening. After reading this one, I would also recommend that. I hope you enjoy!
🌟ARC Review🌟 📖 Hot Blooded By Skye Jordan 📖 Pub Date ~ March 1st 2023 Publisher ~ Author Collective 20 RATING ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ SPICE 🌶🌶🌶 My Thoughts~ It was very easy for me to get into, I was fascinated from the start with the storyline of the book. I loved the characters and there personalities, they fit well. Alyssa, i definitely connected with her personality loved it. she is a doctor that was kidnapped and caught up in a bad situation... turned good?? 😉 Teague Creek is a prisoner serving life that breaks out through the hospital in the process kidnapped Alyssa. I felt the author did good with making sure there was enough back story for both of them and even additional Characters. definitely enemies to lovers, Grumpy sunshine, lots of banter. There's crime solving and violence so ⚠️ Please check your trigger warnings⚠️
What I didn't like ~ there was mentions of racism through words and actions by a character. I felt like it just wasn't needed to get the point across that was trying to be made but I also understand what the author was trying to do. Just could have been left out.
Otherwise I loved the book
I appreciate being sent an ebook copy to read thank you @NetGalley @skyejordan

Thank you to NetGalley and Skye Jordan for allowing me to read an ARC of their book in return for feedback and a review. All opinions below are mine.
This is my first book from Skye Jordan and it was a rousing success!!! This book was urban fantasy/romance in the best of ways and all the various nuances of the plot really made this romance novel great. It was so fun and I couldn't put it down, I will definitely read from this author again!
If I were to criticize anything about this book, I would say that the beginning portion went on a bit too long. Taz was in the book too much for me to understand why he was there other than to provide a foil to Teague. I think it would've worked out better if that part of the book was a little shorter, making what Teague had to say to Alyssa less extreme and we would've been more endeared to him sooner, as opposed to having to wait.
The smut was pretty well-written. There was the right amount of spice for this book and I like how the scenes always came about. Sure, there were some inopportune times, but it made sense with the way the author wrote them. I also liked the chemistry between Alyssa and Teague, you could tell right from the beginning that they were attracted to each other, but it was only after their relationship progressed that you knew that they had a deep affection.
This author excels at not only writing mystery/thriller romances but with the addition of supernatural abilities, it just adds another layer to this book. I really enjoyed it and I can't wait to continue on with the series. Happy Reading!!
This is the best, most fascinating story Skye has ever written. I couldn't put it down and I never wanted it to end. We have three more stories in the series so I guess I'll get my wish. This is a rewrite of her Joan Swan series now that she's got her author rights back. It's better than ever. It's about a firefighter squad that got caught in a chemical warehouse explosion and were never the same again. Each of the survivors came back with a supernatural ability. It's also a story of a governmental coverup about the chemical and it's effects. This is Teague Creek's story and how he escapes from prison for a murder he didn't commit, and trying to get back to his beloved daughter Kat. He kidnaps Alyssa Foster, radiology fellow up for a promotion, thinking she's his former teammate Luke's girlfriend, Hannah Svelt. Luke has custody of Teague's daughter with Luke's deceased sister Suzanna. He planned to trade Hannah for Kat.
Alyssa Foster has worked her whole life helping others and working toward a permanent position at a major hospital. She's on the cusp of achieving her goal when she trades shifts with her friend Hannah who had a dental appointment. Then her whole world imploded when she treats Teague.
Teague relatively peacefully takes Lyssa hostage and escapes with a jail mate Taz. Taz is a loose cannon and eventually dies in their escape while injuring Alyssa. Alyssa slowly finds this is about more than a warehouse explosion, a murder and extra abilities. There is a secret the some in the government are trying to bury and when Teague won't quite asking questions he had to be silenced in jail or eliminated permanently.
One thing leads to another and Alyssa begins to realize Teague is a good man who's been pushed into escaping trying to have a life with his daughter. The journey to reuniting with Kat is convoluted and filled with roadblocks while Teague and Lyssa find they have much they appreciate about each other. The journey was awesome!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thought and opinions are my own.
Holy moly, this was a fun book. First in a new series, it functions as á standalone, but I suspect the mystery of the overarching storyline (chemical explosion, firefighters, special abilities) will thread through the series. And I'm on board for that.
The first firefighter/paramedic up is Teague. Left with the ability to generate heat and a healthy dose of suspicion about the origins of the explosion, he apparently asked the wrong questions and ended up in prison. All this happens before the story and we only hear about it through his--and others'--memories. I do wish there'd been a prologue instead; the lack of one to give us the particulars resulted in the book sometimes reading as if the book is NOT the series starter. I also wish all of the affected firefighters had made at least cameo appearances. We only see Teague, Luke, and Seth here.
Our heroine Alyssa is extremely awesome. A brilliant radiologist completing a fellowship that she hopes to turn into a full-time position, she finds herself a victim of mistaken identity that leads to her kidnapping. She senses Teague is not the bad guy the world thinks he is, and despite a harrowing few days, ends up on his side. The speed at which they get together seems farfetched and vaguely Stockholm Syndrome-ish, though one could easily argue that relationships grow faster in intense situations. I liked both her and Teague well enough to willingly suspend disbelief.
Other things seem conveniently pat: a rockstar defense attorney brother who seems to know (and be owed a favor from) all the right people, an ability to go into any number of stores with just baseball caps as disguises without being recognized, even Teague's abilities enabling them to escape over and over when mere mortals world be screwed. Again, I willingly suspended my disbelief.
The book ended with a teaser chapter for story 2, and I can't wait.
I received an ARC of this book for free from the publisher and Netgalley. I'm writing this review voluntarily, and it reflects my honest opinion. Thanks!
❤️🔥 Provocative, Pulse Pounding, Assassin’s and Kidnapping ❤️🔥
It’s been a while since I have read a book by Skye Jordan and let me tell ya, she still knows how to create a fantastic story! This is the first book in Jordan’s Phoenix Rising Series and it’s off to on hell of a fiery start! 🔥😍❤️🔥 Here is what you can look forward to in “Hot Blooded” ▪️ Stellar World Building ✔️ ▪️ Sexy Bad Boys ✔️ ▪️ Mystery ✔️ ▪️ Enemies to Lovers ✔️✔️ ▪️ Story that grabs your attention and doesn’t let go ✔️ ▪️ Two MCs that are perfectly imperfect ▪️ Action packed ▪️
This is Teague’s and Alyssa’s story and while their story is a great introduction to the series, I get the feeling the best is yet to come! Teague is incarcerated for a murder that he actually didn’t do; Alyssa is finishing her Radiology fellowship and she is the victim of a wrong place wrong time situation. This romance doesn’t start out on the best foot but if you enjoy some suspense, angst, drama, and then finally a happy ending - you will enjoy this story.
This story does have some aspects that are likely triggers for some readers, please check the TW. There are also aspects to the story that usually irritate me such as “insta-love” but I chose to just roll with it this time. I would have appreciated a prologue that provided some of the backstory to the entire series theme, instead the background is revealed via characters memory’s.
3.5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ | 4 Flames 🔥🔥🔥🔥
📚Disclosure: I received a review copy of this book from the author/publisher via Netgalley. All thoughts, opinions, comments, and interpretations of the story are my own and bias free. I did not receive any money in exchange for this review. Thank you to the publisher/author for allowing me the opportunity to review. Reviews are usually cross-posted to social media, goodreads, and blog. 🦄
Let me preface this review by saying I wasn’t sure if I would like this read based upon the designation on Goodreads that it’s “paranormal.” Well, if you’re like me and paranormal isn’t your thing, no worries! I would classify this as “light” paranormal if at all and believe me, it is so much more than that! I should have know I would fall in love with these characters and this story line – Skye Jordan was one of the very first authors I began following and reading and she has never once disappointed me. I’ve read every single book she’s written and she never ceases to amaze me with her talent and creativity. When I review a book I don't generally say much about the story because I don’t like to give too much away -- I like to share the feelings that the story invoked in me and this one had me feeling all kinds of things! I immediately became immersed in Teague and Alyssa’s characters – another hallmark of Ms. Jordan’s writing style – her characters are so well developed and relatable. And then there’s the secondary characters – wow, I hope we get Alyssa’s brother’s story – he is one interesting character and I think there’s more to him than meets the eye. This is contemporary romance and romantic suspense all wrapped up a perfect bow – If you like suspenseful, edgy, twisty, and steamy reads with characters that stay with you well after you’ve finished reading and a story line that keeps you on your toes, Hot Blooded fits the bill! BTW, the sneak peak of Book #2 had me wanting more, more, more – can’t wait! I'm grateful to have been given an opportunity to read an early copy of this book.
I got a lot of superhero vibes from this book, with the fighting, exposure to toxic chemicals, and a desperate attempt to fix a wrong done. There was not a dull moment full of heart racing action, suspense and tension. I liked the writing; the pace was good. It has an enemy to lover's type trope to it. We follow Teague and Alyssa. Teague is trying to desperately reunite with his daughter, but the only way to do that is to escape prison, after he was convicted of murder. Things don’t go according to plans and now he has more baggage than he planned and now he has to try and keep her safe and his desires in check. I liked the different powers, how the characters of this book are first responders, so they have different skills in this book besides just relying on new abilities. Teague was interesting in the way his powers manifest and he is still really trying to learn to control them. Some of the ending twists were interesting and I found they added a complex addition to the story. There was nonstop action happening pretty much the whole story, someone was always chasing them or trying to attack Alyssa. I felt that there were no breaks in between all this happening and some of it felt redundant. Some of Teague's plan was not really thought out well; it had a lot of holes. The relationship development was ok, had some good spice. Overall, I had an ok time. I will continue on with the series, I want to know what is going to happen to the rest of the crew. Trigger warnings: sexual harassment and assault, blood, violence. I received an advanced ebook, via Netgalley. This review is my own honest opinion.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC in exchange for my honest review! This book was an action packed crazy ride! The book immediately gets into the action within the first chapter. Alyssa Foster is a doctor competing for a position at the hospital she works at, when she is kidnapped by Teague Creek and another inmate. It’s a case of mistaken identity as Teague meant to take a completely different woman. There is a lot of violence so please check all tigger warnings before reading! Alyssa is everything you could want for a heroine. She’s courageous, intelligent, and resilient. She endured a lot during her first couple of hours with Teague. Teague is kinda rough around the edges with some trust issues. His plan to kidnap his ex brother in laws girlfriend goes completely awry. Granted you might run into some problems with a plan like that, but it seemed like everything went wrong. Teague’s powers, from the chemical fire years ago, are intriguing. His internal temperature gets higher, the more emotional he is. He can burn people, but also heal them. He heals Alyssa multiple times. I wish that we were able to get more information about the fire that happened years ago. Who was behind it? Why was only Teague framed and set up? It seems like everyone else from his team lives regular lives. If they have powers, would they have been quarantined and studied?? Just a few unanswered questions, but overall an enjoyable, fast paced read!
I think I have a new kink- kidnapping! Who wouldn’t want to be taken hostage by a smoking hot prison inmate? And by smoking hot I mean he is literally and figurately en fuego. He can melt shit w his hands, like your panties and your heart.
Teague is the aforementioned inmate who is a former fire fighter with special heating powers after a weird chemical exposure during a warehouse explosion. He’s been wrongly imprisoned as part of a government coverup. He kidnaps radiologist Alyssa while getting an ultrasound and they go on the run. Alyssa is stabbed in a knife fight and all my kink dreams come true! She discovers Teague’s warm hands have a healing touch and she makes him touch her way more than any abductee should- but again Teague is handsome, chiseled, and has a fire in his pants. She’s making smart choices.
After a lot of dodging the law and smoldering sexual tension Teague and Alyssa give in to their attraction and it’s smoking. What else is there to do when you are on the lam and recovering from a stab wound than screw your beautiful, radiant captor? Nada.
I loved this book. Alyssa was so smart and tough (her brains save the day many times) and Teague may have mutated DNA and a rap sheet, but I’d take a ride on his hot rod any day. Read this and get your temperature rising!!
I hadn’t read anything of Skye Jordan, but it was the cover that drew my eye. Having read the Phoenix Rising series of Abigail Owen, I expected this one to be similar. But it wasn’t! Whereas Abigail’s Phoenix are supernatural born, Skye tells us the story of firefighters who were exposed with a secret chemical during a fire. And now that they are developing strange symptoms, they are being held by the government for experimentation.
Ever since the fire and explosion in that government building, Teague’s world has gone to hell. Being accused of murder and being experimented on, he broods on escaping and living somewhere remote, where no one can find him. After months of planning, he kidnaps his nurse, as a means to get out. Only to realize that it’s the wrong woman he has targeted.
Taking over a shift from one of her colleagues ended up being the worst decision of her life. Suddenly Alyssa is being kidnapped and taken on the run, with one of the inmatesBut while on the run, Alyssa learns about Teague’s story and she becomes intrigued: what kind of chemicals was he exposed to and how could that result in his new abilities?
Together they try to find the answers. But there are people who don’t want them to find the truth. A gripping story, full of drama, injustice and suspense at every page. I loved it! Hopefully Skye will come up with some new stories in this series. Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
This is book 1 in the new Phoenix Rising series and if you like PNR books, you will definitely like this book. Undercover operatives want Creek silenced and they don’t care who they have to take out to succeed.
I absolutely loved this book! The suspense of what happened to Teague and his team sucked me in from the beginning. You throw in his interactions with Alyssa and how their relationship comes about and I was completely hooked. My only drawback? The beginning was a little slow and I had to push through that portion. But once I was past that point, I was completely drawn in. Definitely a great way to start a series!
I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked up Hot Blooded but I am thrilled that I did! It's a contemporary romantic suspense story with a paranormal twist. Radiology doctor Alyssa Foster loves her job at the hospital and is on track to be hired on permanently but what she doesn't like is treating the prisoners from the local maximum security prison. She's afraid of them but when her co-worker needs help covering a shift, Alyssa jumps in. Teague Creek is a man wrongfully convicted. He was a well respected fireman before his world imploded but he has a plan for escape from prison. Sadly for Alyssa, she's in the wrong place at the wrong time and becomes Creek's hostage. As Teague continues his quest for freedom, he finds out that he has made a critical error and grabbed the wrong woman to take hostage. As these two get to know each other, Alyssa gets to know the real Teague not the inmate and Teague finally found someone who believes in him but at what cost? As for the paranormal aspect, that's part of the reason Teague has been set up in prison, to keep him quiet about what happened on his last firefighting mission. These two were great together. A bit of enemies to lovers and lots of action! Hot Blooded was told from multiple POV. I'm looking forward to reading more in this series! I will add that there were several editing errors that kept me from giving this a 5 star rating.
Government cover ups, murder, kidnapping, intrigue and suspense are woven into the captivating story that surrounds two unforgettable characters. Teague Creek had a stellar career as a firefighter. He was a man who saved lives not took them. Yet, he is a man who's been used and abused by the legal system. A man so desparate he risked his life to be with his young daughter, no matter what. Dr. Alyssa Foster is as driven as the come. She has her eyes on the prize so being kidnapped is not in her game plan. Make no mistake she's no damsel in distress. She's mouthy when she should keep it shut. A great judge of character and a problem solver. I loved both these characters and their story. She knows from the minute Teague takes her, this man is not a killer but a man on the edge. The way he protects her, cares for her and yet pushes her away at every turn. It's apparent there's more to his story than being an escaped felon and that become glaringly apparent because of who and how he's being hunted. Alyssa calls in the cavalry, namely her shark lawyer of a brother, and all together they get to the bottom of the miscarriage of justice that reaches into the upper echelons of government. Teague gets the life he's so desparate for and Ally gets what's important...love and family.
I am trying to find the words to best describe how much I absolutely loved this book! I am speechless in the best way possible.
First of all you get action right away, literally in the first chapter. I just love it when books start you out with action within the first few pages. Sucks you in and makes you wonder, “What is going to happen? I need to know the outcome of this!”. Gets me every time, like IM HOOKED! Give me more.
Now I fell for Teague right away! Some might fall for him right away like I did, but trust me when I say, you WILL fall for him. There is no way around that. I felt his pain while reading. There was just something about him that gets you. He pulls you in by the heartstrings.
Then you got my strong and fierce girl Alyssa coming in hot and blazing. Love me a strong heroine. But she also had a sweet side that she doesn’t show often but it is there. Everything that happens to her, not giving you people anything because you have to go read to find out yourself, makes me love her as a person even more.
It is clear to me that this book is my best read of 2023 so far!
I need more of Teague and Alyssa. I need more of this series. I cannot wait to read the next ones that come out. . . . . 5️⃣🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 10/10 recommendation‼️
A traumatic event occurred while Teague, AKA Creek, and his fire fighting team were called to a warehouse fire. Some of them never made it out and the ones that did were never the same. Neither were the people who were close to them. This is Teague’s story as he escapes from a prison sentence that may or may not be deserved. Betrayed by those who should have defended him and desperate to save those he loves most he is on the run with a hostage. This was a fast read and a super charged beginning to what should be an awesome series.
Wow. I had a hard time putting this one down. From the first two pages I was hooked wanting to know more about the characters and their backstories. I was not disappointed. I love a good action book. Especially when there is a little romance thrown in. This story feels like the beginning of a fascinating and fast paced series. It’s not your typical “super hero powers overnight” story. There is a slow development that takes place and though the hero’s “power” is there he is still human and it was a realistic view of what those changes might look like. I literally cannot wait to read the next book in the series. This was my first book by this author and I will now be going back to read all of her previous books.
Hot Blooded by Skye Jordan. And while Alyssa Foster may not be the woman he needs, she turns out to be the only woman he wants.Alyssa is nearing the conclusion of her radiology fellowship with an amazing job on the horizon, but when she’s abducted by a prison inmate, her coveted position at the hospital she loves is put at risk. Creek has powers she doesn’t understand and a heart that tells her he’s not a hardened criminal. But when Alyssa digs in to help him, she finds something much darker than she expected. Undercover operatives want Creek silenced and they don’t care who they have to take out to suceed. I really enjoyed this book. Loved Teague and Alyssa story. I did like how they were together. 5*.
I really like Skye Jordan’s writing style and this was an intriguing plot with lots of moving parts. There was romance, injustice, murder, crime, and slight sci-fi elements that I hope will get more in-depth coverage in the next books of the series.
I really liked Alyssa’s fire as a heroine. She definitely was not a shrinking violet! She was fiery, tenacious, and took no crap which was refreshing. Teague as a main character was a little stunted and wished that his character was a little more flushed out. His escape plans kind of made sense but it felt like there were so many holes still for something he had been planning for 3 years.
I found that the first 2/3 of the book kind of dragged and the ending was quite rushed considering how many loose ends were getting tied up. I was also hoping for a bit more spice but was okay that the romance was not the driving force of the plot. Overall I enjoyed it and will have to see how the rest of the series plays out.

This book was a good different, and I loved it. It you love suspense, intrigue, romance, and so much more you have to read this book. Ms. Jordan did an excellent job with Alyssa’s character. She was strong, stubborn, smart, beautiful, and soft hearted. It was amazing she held it together working in a where prisoners were brought to the hospital. Unfortunately she was at the wrong place at the wrong time when Teague took her hostage as he and another prisoner escaped the hospital. The adventure they went on had more surprises and government conspiracy than you could count. Alyssa’s brother, Mitch, was an attorney that had friends in high places and took cases where prisoners were railroaded and innocent. Teague’s main concern was always his five year old daughter’s safety. I was on the edge of my seat half the time in the book. I wish I had the words for how good this book was. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.
Great start to new series. It grabbed me from the first page. Filled with action, drama, bad guys, enemies to lovers. Here we meet Teague and Alyssa. Teague, a prisoner with a murder conviction, was brought to the hospital where Alyssa works as a doctor, to be treated for an unusually high fever. He escapes his guards and takes Alyssa hostage, believing her to be someone else. Their journey is action packed and filled with surprising twists and turns. You will not regret picking this one up and will not want to stop until done. The backstory is about firefighters injured in a chemical fire that leaves them with unusual capabilities. I cannot wait to read the next installment in this series.
Thank you NetGalley, Skye Jordan and Author Collective 20 for the ARC of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Publication date: 3/1/2023
Wow, what a fabulous story that kept me guessing and excited to know what would happen next. Teague’s life took a huge turn after a crazy warehouse fire and now his brother has gained custody of his daughter while he’s in prison. He is desperate to reclaim his daughter which pushes him to find a way to break out of prison. Alyssa is focused on her career as a doctor so when the prisoner she is examining suddenly takes her hostage, she isn’t sure what to think but knows she has to work to get away. But the longer Alyssa is around Teague, the more she knows he won’t hurt her and there is a lot more to his story, especially the way he projects heat. Will Teague get his daughter back? Will Alyssa uncover all his secrets? I don’t want to say too much so that other readers can experience the thrill of how this story unfolded. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
