I’ve been half in love with Georgette Reed since we started working together. She’s a force to be reckoned with. Intelligent, gorgeous, and ambitious.
She doesn’t know how I feel and I plan to keep it that way. Between our age difference and work conflicts, my feelings are a complication she doesn’t need.
Especially when she decides to take on a group of corrupt lobbyists.
But what happens when things don’t go the way she plans?
No longer able to hide behind our professional relationship, I take action.
Maybe barging into her office and bringing her home with me wasn’t the best idea but I’ll do anything to make sure she’s okay. Including stepping up to help her get rid of the men who are now blackmailing her.
Battling the Bureaucracy is the second novella in the Capitol Shorts duet by Cecelia Conway, featuring an age-gap romance among coworkers with a little suspense thrown in. I was intrigued by Asher and Georgie, when I read the first short story, so it was fun to focus more on them. This novella was definitely fast-paced, yet packed with emotion, drama, some suspense, and plenty of steam between the MCs!! I loved how protective Asher was of her, and how safe she felt with him. I did feel like the end was a bit abrupt, even though everything was resolved for Georgie and the others affected. I found myself wanting more information! What were the eventual consequences? How big did it get? What did the 2 couples’ lives look like later? This is a personal flaw, you guys. I am an epilogue addict, and I need a program!😳🤣
I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

Once again, this novella was excellent! I definitely think the subject matter in this one is a bit darker than Bridging the Divide was, but I found it added a layer of severity to the book that only benefitted it.
Georgie and Asher are, in my opinion, an even better couple than Lisa and Paul and I enjoyed getting to know them a bit more in this story.
