QUINO, Joaquín Salvador Lavado, nace, hijo de inmigrantes españoles, andaluces, en la ciudad de Mendoza (Argentina) el 17 de julio aunque en los registros oficiales conste nacido el 17 de agosto. Desde que nació se lo llamó Quino para distinguirlo de su tío Joaquín Tejón, pintor y dibujante publicitario con quien a los 3 años descubre su vocación.
Comienza la escuela primaria donde descubre que su verdadero nombre es Joaquín y vive las dificultades de su personaje Felipe: «Me angustiaba tanto que en los primeros tres meses tenía malas notas, pero después terminaba el año con notas altas, aunque nunca era el primer alumno y eso me daba bronca».

Maybe the most renowned argentine comic strip ever.

All her comments still hold true. Timeless.

Tomo 6 de Mafalda, con el hermano más grandecito y ya comenzamos a ver sus ocurrencias. Me encanta eso. Aún nos falta descubrir un personaje que me encanta, no voy a decir cual pero quienes conocen a los personajes de Mafalda deben tener una idea de quien hablo.

A seguir leyendo y aventurándome en las travesuras de Mafalda y sus amigos.

Not for me. It’s a Spanish Argentinian graphic novel but it reads like a comic strip. It’s very everyday and situational conversations so it feels like a cheap Seinfeld. But the biggest thing con for me was that I could not get over the cognitive dissonance of 4 year-olds speaking like graduate school students. The language and age did not align. Not even close. I hated “Lose who’s talking” because I can’t get over kids speaking. But preschoolers discussing whole politics, the economy, financial problems, marriage, and other heavy topics just made no sense to me. A kid telling her dad to break open her piggy bank makes sense, but one asking him to perform harakiri on it is too much for me. Obviously I was not the intended audience.

Lihatlah kenakalan konyol Guillermo yang sangat khas anak-anak. Respon-respon cerdiknya juga aku jamin bakal memicu syaraf tawa anda.

cukup lucu, meskipun bukan jenis humor yang saya suka. konflik2 yang dikedepankan agak terlalu dewasa untuk disampaikan oleh anak kecil. namun senang rasanya mengenal sosok anak-anak kecil yang berwawasan luas serta sadar politik, yang sangat berbeda dengan karakter anak-anak jaman sekarang. meskipun kurang lugu untuk anak kecil, penulis berhasil menyampaikan pesan dengan cerdas dan menyentil.

Don't get me wrong -I totally enjoy these- but read without any time between them (as with their newspaper release) makes a sort of compounded bummer for me. He's too astute and subtlety poignant about the problems of humankind for it to be joyfully "entertaining" to me- it's an incessant reminder about how un___ the world is. That portrayal of gruesome reality is made palatable through a cast of adorable children but it gets unnerving without 24hr breathers.

He does it so well and intelligently but the truths hurt- especially when the same injustice/atrocities still plague humankind -whether exactly or refashioned- fifty years later!
