It's easy to think you know hate. Especially when you're set on revenge. Men are all the same, and getting them to bend to my will has never been a challenge. I'd just break whichever Cortez brother I had to marry and let him feel my wrath, because this was my chance to finally prove myself to my father.
That was the plan. But I knew nothing of hate before I met him. He was a monster hiding in plain sight, wearing fine, cut cloth and pouring champagne. And after that day, he broke me. Abel Cortez. Menacing. Possessive. Cruel. My enemy. My husband.
Note: The House Of Skin Series deals with themes some may be uncomfortable with. These are bad men who make no apologies for their particular trade.
Hailing from the depths of the quiet British countryside, Charlotte likes nothing better than sinking into her characters dark and devious world's. Sometimes they're kinky, sometimes they're twisted, and sometimes they're a serious hold on tight situation, but her stories are always filled with romance and love in some form.
I bloody adored this chock-full of triggers with a high level of toxicity this isn’t a fairy-tale and not for the faint of heart either. With a much darker flavour than its predecessor, this series keeps cranking up the bad so do be pre-warned it contains bad individuals who stay true to themselves throughout.
Abel Cortez has this encompassing menacing aura that is effortlessly backed up by all of his controlling and brutal behaviour and he definitely makes zero apologies for any of it, fundamentally at his core it’s just who he is, if your one of his own, the chosen lucky few you own his total loyalty and protection, anyone else he considers fair game and he definitely seems worse than his brother ever did.
After the events of the previous book and to unite two families at odds Alexia Ortega takes the place of her brother her role now is to marry into the Cortez family in place of her more favoured sibling. A pawn her whole life and used by her own father to further his many agendas she’s learnt to manipulate and play the game like a pro using her main asset her feminine charms. Initially, Intent on finding some retribution for her brother's demise Lexi has her own agenda but Abel certainly isn’t the easy mark she was expecting to play.
This one gets worse before it gets better Abel is not an easy man and treats Lexi abysmally managing to get beneath her skin and the usual bitch mode just isn’t cutting it with him. He wants to see the real Lexi the girl beneath all of the artifice and manipulations something she is not so sure she can deliver especially considering how ingrained this behaviour has become, she wears it like a second skin, her armour and protection against a multitude of sins that have been thrown her way over the years.
As expected this was incredibly well written and easily managed to pull me into its dark gritty narrative. Genre wise it’s a dark criminal romance and there are no heroes between these pages only bad men who do very bad things but also just happen to fall into their own skewed version of a HEA along the way.
Abel is definitely the biggest hypocrite ever but I sort of found myself minding less and less, his psychotic arse just kinda grew on me ever so gradually, baby step style, I’m not even sure when he managed to win me over to the dark side so completely and to be fair Lexi was no stranger to this type of man, she was far from innocent herself with her own personal demons and I kinda loved that she was the opposite of a pushover and could be a real bitch it also made it all the sweeter when she eventually showed all of her hidden vulnerabilities and let him in. She was definitely a product of her traumatic upbringing using all of her hurt and trauma to thrive and survive in this dark criminal world she grew up in.
This is part of a series and does need to be read in order beginning with the original novella. There is a continuing story arc running throughout this though each story does focus on a separate couple. I definitely recommend this if you like a good toxic villain romance with plenty of triggers. Be aware this does involve the skin trade and at times it’s far from pretty, totally hardcore and not one for the snowflakes or pearl clutchers, personally, my deviant dark heart devoured it finding it bloody delicious. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of when Sinners Hate.
Cortez marries Ortega…like adding fuel to an already blazing fire. But that’s the plan. Alexia must marry one of the Cortez men and strengthen business. Abel Cortez has sacrificed years for this family and now is no different. What he says is the law, to hell with anyone who defies him or hurts those he loves-family comes first, business second. A blistering paced book that drags you through the bowels of dark crime dealings, trafficking, and all the problems in between. Be prepared for a surprise spark with Abel and Lexi that even their family cannot understand.
5Star+ read! Book 1, Dante and Wren's story was a shocking read, When Sinners Hate (Book 2) blows that out of the water! It was edge of the seat reading for me. I had to keep putting the book down to catch a breath as I'd become so engrossed in the story! Ms Hart and Ms de Lune have crafted the perfect bloodthirsty, appalling family... that you can't help but fall in love with. Abel is awful. I hated the Cortez family initially. But when Alexi Orega is offered as part of a deal, he shows his cruelty, and anger and becomes, just...ahhhhh... it's all about family... Loads of triggers in this series, so reader beware. Highly recommended read!
Sexy, Dark, Revenge, Business Deal. Revenge can be so sweet. Rollercoaster of a ride. Everything is in this book. I enjoyed every chapter of Abel & Lexi’s business deal of an arranged marriage. Lexi is a control freak and Abel Cortez has a heart. Lexi has a powerful father and very controlling. She gets to see what family actually means to the Cortez’s. Love it that Dante and Wren get a part in the book too.
Wow.... if you've ever wondered how an author (or in this case two) can make you fall for a man who is off the scale bad and makes no apology for it, you need to read this!
“I’m nowhere near a good man. Never have been and don't intend to be. But I am a good brother.”
There are not many characters darker, more intense, merciless, hard and ruthless than Abel Cortez. He deals in the skin trade which is wrong on so many levels. But....... and here's the thing ...... although i hated some of the things he did, somehow I found myself loving him more and more the further I got through the book, even though I knew I shouldn't. Alexia (Lexi) Ortega was the perfect match for him. Oh it wasn't easy, these two were full of hate, anger, a need for revenge and both had damaged souls. However they both grew, particularly Lexi who had had to learn to channel her manipulative inner b1tch from an early age and their fiery, explosive chemistry lead to some spectacular steamy fireworks as well as some very brutal scenes. Abel needed her truth, but with Abel being immune to her usual defensive tactics could she let go of her own painful past to give it?
Abel had his own type of moral compass and his "redeeming" characteristics were slowly exposed, especially relating to family and truth. I loved seeing those features emerge but him still staying true to the dark core of who he was.
This is a dark, Cartel romance with several triggers so isn't for the faint hearted. These men are not heroes in the traditional sense, they are dangerous, lethal and do very bad things, but it grabbed me from the start and thrilled the darker taboo loving section of my heart. It's so well written and told from both POVs. I'm worried for the future of Reed and another character I won't mention so as not to spoil things, but I loved seeing the Cortez family dynamics and can't wait for who comes next because they are all so intriguingly different!
I just finished When Sinners Hate by Hart De Lune and wow! I don't know how Rachel and Charlotte did it but they got me to like someone I really shouldn't. UGH! I wanted to dig my heels and and throw a tantrum if need be because he is so bad. So so so bad! No way could I ever like him. And then I did. Abel is A LOT to handle and if anyone was going to be able to it was Lexi. I struggled with the beginning of the book. There are some things that happen that made me want to stop reading. I decided to stick with it because I know that is what this book is all about. The dark side of these charcters makes me uncomfy but my lord is the story good even if the brothers are so freaking bad. I'm not going to say I swooned but darn it, I kinda did towards the end of the book. Lexi is amazing and I loved her for so many reasons. If you like dark cartel romance you need add the House Of Skin series to your TBR!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book more than When Sinners Fall. The characters were interesting and although there was cruelty and some despicable acts, but both the Ortega and Cortez families make no apologies for their lifestyles. This is a slow burn love story and Abel was cruel to Alexia at the beginning but she never gave in. The family are not much better and while I am not sure Abel’s mother comes around, the rest of the family do. A lot happens in this story and it becomes a real page turner that is hard to put down.
This book, the second in the House of Skin series, is a page-turner that I personally loved. Abel, the protagonist, managed to surprise me even more than Dante from the first book. *but Dante is still my favorite* The story is packed with the Cortez family's dark and twisted secrets, which kept me on the edge of my seat.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.I knew going into When Sinners Hate it would be darker and grittier than When Sinners Fall. The male protagonist of this installment, Abel Cortez, is cold, calculated and downright dangerous. He is not someone whose path you would want to cross, even on his best of days. The authors presented his character in a way that readers will either hate him or admire him for his loyalty.
Abel Cortez is no prince charming. He’s intense, cold and ruthless. To make matters worse, he is involved in the most despicable business: human trafficking. Definitely not someone you can love, but one whom you can admire for his loyalty to his family. Family comes first for Abel, and woe be unto the person who made the mistake of trying to hurt any of his family members.

Alexia (Lexi) Ortega sought revenge for the murder of the brother. The best way to get it was by marrying one of the Cortez brothers. She hoped to use her charms to get her way, but she never counted on Abel being the one she would have to marry. Suffice it to say, those charms would never work on a man like Abel.
Abel and Lexi’s relationship held high levels of toxicity. Hate, anger, and the need for revenge fueled their relationship, and their damaged pasts didn’t help the situation. Abel did time in prison for murder and Lexi father used her as a sexual pawn in illegal business activities.
Throughout the story, Abel and Lexi fought each other every step of the way. She pushed, and he pulled. Eventually, Abel got her to be honest with herself, stand up for herself, draw on her inner strength and ditch the manipulative bitchiness. Not only do readers get to see the real Lexi, they see some ‘redemptive’ qualities in Abel.
When Sinners Hate is a dark, enemies to lovers romance which is not for the faint of heart. The abysmal treatment of women will make you cringe. None of the characters will ever be candidates for sainthood. Their actions were brutal and downright evil. This is the second book in the series, however, it needs be read in order of release. Each book features a different couple, however, there’s an over-reaching story arc which picks up in each book beginning with the novella.
I thought I’d better make myself clear about this before I say anything else 😉
You are going to absolutely love When Sinners Hate…. I certainly did!! It is dark, exciting, gripping and addictive – everything I enjoy in an unputdownable story. It ticked all my boxes for certain.
You will find Abel and Alexia’s story a compelling read. From start to finish I found their journey fascinating and intriguing. The development of both characters throughout the storyline was incredible to witness. I absolutely love the connection that they share and the effect they have on each other. There are some moments between the couple that are expected but still hard to read – this is Abel after all. However, without those scenes the strength and personalities of both characters would not have been so fabulously portrayed.
There is a particular chapter that I will be rereading over and over again, simply because the feelings that I had afterwards I want to experience time and time again. Don’t get me wrong, that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy the other chapters equally as much – far from it. The whole narrative from beginning to end is incredible. However, I just loved how this particular scene made me feel.
I thought I had the Cortez family all worked out – thought I understood the individual characters. However, there are a couple of scenes in this story that showed me how wrong I was. I absolutely loved seeing everyone in this different light - in these different situations. The writing throughout this narrative by Hart De Lune has been outstanding as always, with each and every character playing an integral part in the storyline. Please remember that When Sinners Hate is part of a series and due to a continuing storyline, I’d strongly suggest that you read the House of Skin books in release order. You will not be disappointed!!
I honestly cannot wait for more! All of the Cortez family intrigue me. If you love your romance stories on the dark side then this series is perfect for you. Go in blind would be my advice, if you are able to, and enjoy every twist and turn this story has to offer. There are trigger warnings in place should you need them. This series is one that I highly recommend. Enjoy!!
Alexia Ortega enters an arranged marriage with Abel Cortez. Abel is one character I disliked until the relationship develops a strength and bond with Alexia that is so powerful. They as a couple are a force to be reckoned with. This story has many dark elements and triggers but I couldn’t put it down. Abel exerts control and Alexia is determined to prove herself worthy of her father’s respect. She is determined to get even for the death of her brother. Over the course of time she is exposed to the dark nature of Cortez family. Abel starts to appreciate her abilities as time passes. The pace of this story is fast and I finished it in one sitting. I loved the development of this relationship and recommend it highly. Just be aware this story isn’t for the faint of heart.

I love these two author's and the story's they come up with. They are the queens of dark & delicious sexy plots. This was not as dark as the first book but i absolutely loved Abel, the more i read i grew to love him more and more for what he went through in prison to keep his family safe. But he deals in the skin trade and he was ruthless, i did not want to like this guy at all and the way he treated his new wife Alexia (Lexi) was cruel, but the saying of "treat them cruel to be kind" was definitely applied hear.
This was my favourite book so far with how these two characters hated each other to start with as they come from different family's, the plan was to unite both these family's with a arranged marriage a plot devised by Abel's mother, there is definitely something going off with her but i can't put my finger on it yet!
This book has some triggers so it is not for the faint hearted and it was told from two POV'S which i love, i can't recommend this book enough, if you love a mafia type dark dangerous read this series is the one for you.
Omg.. Hart De Lune do it again with this 2nd book of the sinners series. Abel Cortez, the baddest of the Cortezes steps up as his mother does a deal with Miguel Ortega the opposing mafiosa family. Alexia, sister of Nicolas Ortega, killed by the Cortezes has always lived in his shadow. A woman living in a mans world. She, is the deal, she is to marry Abel and unite the families, Alexia has her own reasons for doing this. Revenge. But the new Mrs Cortezes life goes in a different direction. There is a very thin line between love and hate.
‘I know my brothers well – all of them. They’re loyal. No disputing that, but they’re individuals too. Knox – the thinker. Dante – the muscle. Shaw – the questioner.’
When Sinners Hate by Hart De Lune is the second book in the very dark and disturbing series about the Cortez crime family. It’s definitely not a conventional romance series for the faint of heart, these brothers are not heroes in any way shape, or form, but we love them nonetheless, and this series satisfies that craving we have every so often of disappearing into a fictional world that is the polar opposite of sugary sweet. And we must stress that we absolutely believe that beauty and romance can still be found in the darkness. This duo of Authors writes so incredibly well together as once again this instalment was seamless and flowed in the most compelling of ways. Whilst this series is super distressing, tragic, and violent at times, we found Lexi and Abel’s book the least disturbing so far in House of Skin, but perhaps this is because we’re hardened dark romance readers! So if you are too, come walk on the dark side with us, but beware of the trigger warnings.
“As my wife, I’ll expect you to do exactly what I ask when I ask it. Any form of denying me will end in your harm. Do you understand?”
“Are you threatening me?”
“If you disobey me, yes.”
The undertone of the romance aspect felt completely different in When Sinners Hate in comparison to Darker Shades, the prequel and When Sinners Fall, which was Dante and Wren’s book. Whilst the disturbing storyline from Darker Shades and When Sinners Fall continues, this is Abel Cortez and Alexia Ortega’s story. The relationship between Abel and Lexi began as a business deal and wasn’t easy to read at times, however, we felt a tangible connection from the beginning. What a story theirs is, we just couldn’t put it down!
‘He holds me close, making sure I don’t fall. And in that moment, amongst all that pain, suffering and doubt that have shaped me into the person I am today, I finally feel safe and that I belong.’
Abel is controlling and completely effed up in the head of the brutal Cortez family yet harbours strong family values and an intense sense of loyalty and protection. But only to those that matter to him. He’s formidable in his anti-hero villainous ways. As his background comes to light, as well as the sacrifices he’s made for his mum and siblings, we get a real insight into this damaged force of nature that bleeds from his violent and unethical pores. An enigmatic powerhouse of a man who seeks vengeance, control, and domination. Whilst his actions at times freaked us out and had us wanting to look the other way, we completely saw his heart and his own version of love.
“It’s done then. All in. Heed the warning, darlin’, because we don’t fuck up from this second on.”
Alexia Ortega is a pawn in her father’s unsavoury world and has been to hell and back by his hand. She now must take on a role to wreak family revenge after what transpired in When Sinners Fall. Whilst at times we found her incredibly vulnerable and a helpless victim in this evil world, she also had an armour of strength and a hardened exterior as well as a girly softness lurking beneath, waiting to come to the forefront. Her sense of self needed to go through a hell of a lot to find its true place and true love, the Lexi version.
“I choose you, Abel. For everything you’ve done to me, for everything we’ve been through in these few weeks, you mean more to me than blood.”
When Sinners Hate is another well-written addition to the House of Skin series. We’re absolutely addicted to this world and can’t wait for more to come. We highly recommend reading this series in order despite each book being about a different brother, as it has a continuing storyline running through it.
When Sinners Hate is book two in the House of Skin series. A dark and dirty tale written in the typical style of Hart De Lune. Readers of dark romance will love this series as the authors don’t hold back with how bad and dangerous these brothers are. This is an enemies to lovers story about the oldest Cortez brother Abel, and Alexia Ortega, the daughter of a drugs cartel boss. After we had Dante falling for Wren in book one, we now have the intricate story of Abel and Lexi falling for each other. This not only confuses them but also their families, as the arranged marriage was just another business deal to expand their empires and not a love match.
Abel Cortez is a cold and cruel man, detached from his emotions. He has been deeply affected by growing up in his mother’s world and the experience of being in prison. To him loyalty and his family is everything so he is fiercely protective. He really sees each of his siblings and understand them even if he seems tough and controlling over them. It does lead to conflicts, especially with his mother, as he sees himself as the head of the family. He puts himself forward to be marry Alexia because he doesn’t any off his brothers would be able to cope with her.
Alexia portrays herself as a confident, independent and powerful woman but she is constantly fighting for her place in the Ortega empire. Her father treats her as nothing more than a pawn to use to help increase his power. The alliance with the Cortez family will rival their biggest competition, the Cane empire. When she first arrives at the Cortez family home, she has no idea which brother has been chosen as her husband.
They have both endure unconventional childhoods and suffered events which have shaped and turned them into the people they now are. Abel fights his feelings and refuses to hide what he does so shows Lexi their sordid business. Everyone underestimates her but Abel sees something inside that he can work with but he won’t trust her until he gets to know the real woman inside the fake one she portrays. He is cruel and savage in his ways of dealing with her because he knows she is scheming behind his back. He needs her honesty to make it real between them.
Alexia wants to break the Cortez family apart from the inside and exact revenge on her brothers killer but starts to enjoy their love-hate relationship. They both have quick tempers so they regularly clash and provoke each other. They are explosive together fighting and arguing then set the sheets on fire when they make up. There are some unexpected sweet moments between them which makes her realises he is hiding a decent side to his character. She is worried his family will never accept her and she’ll always be treated as the enemy and not his Lexi. Alexia must also decide which family is she is going to side with when things take a turn they didn’t expect.
I felt we got to see the Cortez family at their best and worse in this book. The dynamics are changing as the brothers find partners. I think his mother is getting worse and Knox is asking for trouble not progressing with their revenge plans. I liked seeing their sister standing up for herself and how Wren was fitting in. I feel things are going to get very interesting in the next book as the authors cleverly built up the tension both within the family and running their business.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
It's easy to think you know hate. Especially when you're set on revenge. Men are all the same, and getting them to bend to my will has never been a challenge. I'd just break, whichever Cortez brother I had to marry and let him feel my wrath, because this was my chance to finally prove myself to my father. That was the plan. This is a dark romance. You will want to heed the warnings in the beginning of the book. It might contain triggers for some readers. Alexia is about to have to marry one of the Cortez brothers. While this is something she would never in a million year willingly do she doesn't have a choice. However when businesses need strengthening and the way to do that is marry a Cortez. Lexi is the last person I think she thinks she is going to have to marry and since she considers him a monster. He is controlling and brutal and he certainly makes no apologies for anything he does or the way he is. He is who he is and that is just the way it is. However he is a very loyal man and if you are one of the few people he has chosen and his family then he will protect you at all costs. He makes his brothers look like princes in the way he is compared to them. Lexi is the pawn. It wasn't suppose to be her that had to marry a Cortez brother. But her father has used her her whole life for his benefit and when it suits him. However because of this she has learned how to play the game and manipulate like a pro and is going to use any of the tools in her box to get some kind of retribution for her brother. However she has met her match and is well outmatched with Abel. When she is acting out horrible it doesn't even affect him or get to him the way she thought it would. I don't really want to get in to the details of this book as I am afraid I would say something that would be a spoiler. This is one of those books that keeps you one the edge of your seat a lot of the time and I really loved reading this book.
Abel Cortez is one dangerous, mean and brooding man; he is ruthless and ready to marry for the sake of his family, he wasn’t prepared for who he was marrying!. Family and retribution were the only thing driving Lexi, and if that meant getting bed with the enemy then so be it.
This book was off the scale dark, full of triggers and oh so good, in fact it's gripping, dramatic and fast paced. I am not even sure I was ready for Abel and Lexi. They tread the line between love and hate very finely, but they spark bright and pull extreme emotions from each other.
Abel is all about his family, trust and loyalty and handles anyone that goes against it lethally. Lexi has always lived in a male dominated world, causing her a tremendous amount of suffering. This has turned Lexi into the courageous and driven woman who has a need to prove herself. She should hate the Cortez family for more than what they have done, it should be for what they business in. This woman has fire and determination, and that is what Abel starts to admire about her.
I really didn’t like Abel through this book he gave me whiplash he is a mix of psychotic, mean even with softer side and I am not sure at what point I started to like him, but Charlotte and Rachel work their seamless magic and before I know it, I am invested in wanting them to work.
When Sinners Hate is book 2 in the House of Skin series, and it keeps getting better. If you like your cartel stories dark and sometimes disturbing like me, then this is absolutely 100% for you.
5* from me all the way, and lightly tapping my foot waiting on book 3
This is the first time I write a review while reading a book. Abel is an asshole period. And not the sexy type. He literally hates the fmc or at least that’s what his actions are saying. He constantly cold towards her, humiliates her, take away her choices and again not in a sexy way. What really pushed me into starting this review early is that he manhandles her a bit so she slapped him and believe me HE DESERVES IT AND HAD IT COMING and do you know what he did? He SLAPPED her back and it hurt her. Then they were going to have sex and she is in to it but suddenly wants to stop or at least she tells him to not hold her down but he says to her and I quote “I'll do whatever the hell I like to you. Holding you down and putting you in your place will be a certainty.” After that he fucks her in the ass DRY without any preparation. From here onwards I’m continuing the review after finishing the book. Okay towards the end he cares more about her but still doesn’t erase anything he did. Did I tell you that he is a women trafficker? He kidnaps women, trains them into being a whore then sells them or whatever the hell he did. Don’t get me started on wren being bitchy and completely ignoring alexia while planing alexia’s own wedding.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This is book 2 in the House of Skin series and I didn't want it to end, I was hooked throughout, needing more.
I thought book one was brilliant, but this one just tops it, I loved Lexi and Abel's story.
Abel is dark and dangerous, with a violent quick temper, he trusts no one outside of the family, so when someone had to marry Alexia Ortega he know it had to be him, apart from Dante who had Wren, the other two were too weak and she would wrap them around her little finger, so he steps up and marries her. He controls her, tells her where she will live and what she will wear, and shows her what they do to try to tame her.
Alexia has no choice in the matter of marrying Abel, her father set it up and she has to do it like she has to do everything he says with no respect for her, but she is doing it to get revenge for her brother's death, to help her family, well that was initially her plan.
The more he tried to control her the more she pushed back till finally, he broke her, but all was not plain sailing there are twists and turns in this book you don't expect, it is brilliantly written by these authors and I can't wait for book three.
When Sinners Hate is the second book in A House of Skin by Co Authors Charlotte E. Hart and Rachel De Lune. These 2 women put out a great story together.
This is Abel Cortez and Alexia “Lexi” Ortega’s story. Abel is the oldest brother.
Abel was such an *ss in the beginning and hard to like let alone love. But, by the end of this book. My opinion has changed and Abel was able to redeem himself to me.
Warning: This book is full of possible triggers.
Lexi is being used as a bargaining chip. Lexi’s father is a despicable human being. Abel was so mean to Lexi. She didn’t need someone else to treat her poorly. I loved Lexi’s backbone! This girl has spunk!
I love this book and the series! So much that I couldn’t put it down. shhh don't tell anyone but I also read this book while at work. Fortunately I have my Kindle read to me with the text to speech feature and all I had to do was stick my earbuds in and turn on the kindle! 5 dark and disturbing STARS
Well, I didn't think Abel Cortez would be more ruthless than his brother Dante, but learning about his background and the sacrifices he made for his family gave me a whole new viewpoint. Abel has had to be the way he given his family circumstances, but it's made him a ruthlessly tough and brutally hard man When he agrees to enter into an arranged marriage with Alexia Ortega, I wondered how they could ever find love. Alexia is calculating and driven to prove her worth in the name of revenge, yet at the same time she can't help but feel something for Abel. There are some extremely dark moments that bring out the pain and suffering Alexia has gone through, but will her metamorphosis be enough? This book 2 had me so on edge, and yet I could see what Abel was trying to do, just as I could see that Alexia needed someone to see the real woman inside her tough exterior. What an awesomely dark read!!
This is the second book in the house of skin series. Love these dark and twisted Hart De Lune stories. Not for the faint hearted. This book mentions Dante and Wren from book 1 but focuses on Abel and his marriage of convenience to Lexi. What started as a business deal between her father and his mother develops into something much darker and deeper. Lexi was used as a pawn by her father in his business deals but she knows she is better than just a girl to be passed around to his cronies. Abel is the reluctant groom and has no plans to let Lexi think she is anything to him. But as he forces her to show him her true self she realises what they have is far better than she had with her own family. I can wait to read part 3
This is book 2 in the House of Skin series and its turn of biggest brother Abel to get his voice heard... and what a voice it is! Hes not had it easy after being out in prison for the mother of his mothers husband so when one of his sibling needs to take a wife to continue a business relationship he bits the bullet and steps up himself. Lexi is everything he doesnt want... until she is. Shes strong, independent, kick a&& but is she trustful and honest? Lets just say its a bit of a bumpy ride to find out. Loved the family scenes with this book and seeing them all come together. Abel and Lexi were meant to be together for sure! Leaves you on a bit of a "omg what happens next" moment so straight into book 3 for me! *Read as part of KU*
OMG this is amazing read. This is a very dark read that isn’t for a faint heart or have TW. This is a force of nature read and it is handed over with cruel intent. This is the story of Abel & Lexi’s and the business deal of an arranged marriage. This is a forced marriage and the truth will come out once the marriage has started. I just have no words to describe how good this book is. If you have read book 1 you definitely don’t want to miss book 2. This is a very intense dark mafia read that pulls you into this story head on tell the very ending.

There is no way that people really think this is a 5 star read. It’s messed up and there’s no chemistry between the characters and he’s just plain rude and annoying. No groveling either, and his job? It’s disgusting and disturbing. This whole book in general is a fail.
