The Antichrist is a nerve-wracking host, especially since Caden Johnson is a devout Christian. After living with—and spying on—his evil habits for months, Caden thought he would have been caught by now. Barely surviving torture and execution, he’s ready to get the heck out of dodge.
But just when Caden thinks things can’t get any worse, there’s talk of a demon prince joining the hunt for Christians, and the Antichrist declares himself a god. Forced to watch in disbelief as the world bows in worship and welcomes demons into their very souls—forming an army of puppets ready to obliterate God’s final remnant—Caden sees firsthand how dangerous it is to follow King Yeshua.
As the number of enemies grows—with old ones returning and new ones on the rise—Caden must lean on the one true God…or everyone he loves won’t last much longer.
A unique blend of genres, The Broken Sky is teen fantasy and apocalyptic Christian fiction at its best.
This one is so hard to rate, for me anyway. When it was good, it was very very good, but some parts were not so much!
This issue of swearing and cursing continues ( not the actual words). The author 'kind of' speaks to it, but I was not personally satisfied. It was more like: well God will forgive me.
Yes, but that is when you confess and ask for forgiveness, and that was never 100%. It was more like: yeah, 'maybe', I ought to consider, watching and taming my potty mouth, and ask God to set a guard before my mouth. but it was never a true sorrow or repentance, nor never, that I recall, did the main character ask forgiveness.
Then, the violence. In a way, it is most likely a more realistic portrayal of the tribulation, but it was just so much, that I had to speed read over portions.
That is not to say there were not some good, moving, helpful portions.
I also had a bit of concern about all the 'creatures'. True, mankind is putting human DNA in animals as we speak, so it is not like that might not be true.
However, the idea that sometimes, God allows suffering to make us stronger, was encouraging.
I am just glad I am done, maybe I am just too weak right now...
it is certainly a good warning to unbelievers who think the tribulation won't be sooooo bad. This gives a much much darker ( and most likely) realistic ( kind of) portrait.
I don't think I will read the sequel....I guess I will wait and see.
I think I am ready for a nice comfy cozy Christian novel...just to take a break!
But the end times are barreling down on us at faster and faster speed. But even Jesus allowed the disciples time of rest. soooo there is that!
The last time a work of fiction increased my love for God this much was when I read the Wingfeather Saga. This book was remarkable. I loved the series, though the first book wasn’t nearly as good as the second, and especially not this one.
The ending was- well, emojis put it best: 🤯. To know that the things in Revelations will come to pass… that this book is, instead of historical fiction, a type of future fiction… wow. It inspires me to be reminded that none know the day nor the hour, and Yeshua could come any moment.
I’ll be honest: I may be biased in my rating of this story, because of the way the end of times was presented. But the characters were written in such a way that I was significantly more attached to them than I would have suspected. I’ll be thinking about them for a long time. And the end of times was throughly researched and well represented. Of course, there were some creative liberties, but Scripture is constantly referenced, and the character of God is evident in His interactions in the story. Keep in mind: it is a work of fiction written by imperfect people.
Summary: this greatly increased my excitement for the kingdom come, and I think it was well researched and well written. Would definitely recommend!!!
This books utter brilliance and beauty are beyond my ability to describe
Cases story is so master full and the story is so masterfully done that so write this review with tears in my eyes . This series and these characters will be with me for the rest of my life . Cadens journey was a gift and I am a better person for having read it . You must read this series ; it will change you .
The Broken Sky: A Post-Apocalyptic Christian Fantasy( The Final Remnant Book 3)
This was a good book. Even though it is fiction/fantasy, I thought the authors did a fine job of depicting spiritual warfare that Christians engage in daily. The battle was well-written. It was enjoyable reading how The King and His armies win.
This was epic! It was so heavy yet exciting! I highlighted more in this book than I did the others, and felt the Spirit when reading. It even had me asking questions and doing some digging near the end. I think every Christian into fantasy should read this, but it's definitely not just for Christians.
I do enjoy end-times fiction, but it's sometimes hard to find a fresh take on it. This book (and the others in the series) gave a unique perspective while staying true to the overall theme of the events.
