Benjamin Henry Latrobe was the dominating architectural figure int he Jeffersonian era and the designer of such siminal monuments as the Bank of Pennsylvania, Baltimore Cathedral, and the rebuilt United States Capitol. Not surprisingly Ltrobe's entire career- his professional training, his interoduction of Romantic Classicism and the Greek Revival to America, his travels and his private life- has long been the subject of considerable scholarly attention.
