Actual rating : 4.5 stars very pleased with this one:) sooo I just want to thank my friend Stefanie here on goodreads for recommending this to me her recs are always hits every time:) OK let's get to the review
Characters: I loved Tessa I thought she was very responsible with her squad and that she was very admirable and well perfect she was queen bee but not mean she was so nice but not sickeningly sweet like a robot. She reminded me of Massie Block from The Clique but nice essentially. I love both takes on the queen bee this nice queen bee spin was very interesting and refreshing. I totally identified with her and her feelings. AIDEN he was amazing I loved him he was loyal loving caring and just ugh I didn't expect to swoon over the guy here because I usually don't with these fluff ball contemporaries but I so did what can I say he stole my heart. I loved the squad how the dynamics between the squad and Tessa were I love clique like books for some reason Kira co captain of the squad was great such a loyal great friend. And the villains of the story were so well done I almost felt actual hatred this book definitely illicited stronger emotions in me that I thought it would.
Plot: I loved the whole spies are cheerleaders and how the are undercover catching cheaters that idea is amazing and was executed so brilliantly I'm surprised that isn't done more. The plot was never boring something was always interesting and I was always intrigued and I couldn't wait to find out what happened. I loved the whole spy cheer thing once again that was so well done and the pace of the plot was perfect not too fast not too slow. There were awesome plot twists too I couldn't believe I didnt see coming.
Writing Style: The writing style was easy to read and always managed to keep me on my toes. Nothing much more to say about that I read The Program and the Treatment by Suzanne and it was really good too and I know not a lot of people know she wrote this but this is just as good as that duology but just in a different way with it being contemporary. The writing style was amazing because it's Suzanne Young enough said
Romance: I was shocked by this but the romance in this book actually felt so real I loved it I was hooked enthralled and gripped by it I couldn't stop reading because of it honestly they were so perfect for each other and they just fit each other like puzzle pieces they balanced each other out and it was awesome and quite satisfying to see honestly. This in my opinion was the best part of the book.
Overall, I loved this i swooned and even though I don't want to admit it I cried at the end a bit but shhhhh don't say anything ;) I will definitely be recommending this to my goodreads friends it was great thank you once again Stefanie for recommending this to me girl XD
The Naughty List totally took me by surprise. I was in the mood for a light, funny high school drama (I’ve been binge-re-watching Veronica Mars and I am currently obsessed) and I thought I got that in spades at the beginning of the book, but as it turned out, not quite so.
Tessa was the teen equivalent of a 50’s Stepford wife. She was the head cheerleader, constantly perky, never swore, and a straight A student. I can confirmed she baked, but I'm pretty sure she did. Her boyfriend Aiden was the most perfect, dreamiest boy ever and the captain of the basketball team. What Aiden didn’t know though was that Tessa had a secret, and that she was the leader of a group called SOS, dedicated to exposing cheating boyfriends. Just as the perfect veneer of Aiden and Tessa’s relationship begins to crack, new kids Christian and Chloe are determined to give it the final blow.
So, pretty straightforward right? Tessa finds out after a series of misunderstandings that Aiden is not as perfect as she thought he was and is in fact a major dick, all with the help of her selfless sidekick Christian, who Tessa sees in another light and begins to like and fall in love with. I mean I have read hundreds of the type of books and they are all the same, an overdone trope which I don’t particularly mind as long as I’m in the mood for it and it is done well. Turns out, I completely pre and misjudged the Naughty List. I thought it was just another of those cookie cutter teen angst high school dramas but it was the opposite of that. I have to give mad props to Young, she fooled me in the best possible way.
I liked how she showed that Tessa was more than met the eye and that yes, she was exhausted from trying to be perfect all the time and balancing school and relationships and cheerleading and SOS and how she desperately wanted a break from everything. But at the same time and even after that realisation, Young didn’t completely change Tessa by removing every part of her that made her, well, her. Tessa just transformed to a more “mature” person (just a little, let’s not get crazy) who has learned a lot from past mistakes and most importantly how to cut herself some slack occasionally.
As for Aiden, he was the perfect boyfriend. I mean, he was. I am trying to find a fault in him and I can’t. I totally expected him to be a douche but he so wasn’t. It was really nice to see both him and Tessa come to a mutual understanding in the end, even though it would momentarily and knowingly suck for them. The lack of unnecessary over the top drama and angst was refreshing.
I can’t reveal much about the plot I’m afraid even though I really really want to. My advice is to go into the Naughty List spoiler free and give it a chance to pleasantly surprise you. As funny and preppy as should be, I guarantee it will appeal to all YA high school fans out there!
I’ll be the first to admit that I was petrified to read this book. I do not sit well with overly cute summaries. Just something about them gives me goosebumps and kicks up the gag reflexives. But partially into the book I was found giggling in a little corner with this sweetie.
The Naughty List is a perfect read when down in the dumps. It took a few chapters in before I found myself enjoying this book. This book is energetic, fast paced after the first few chapters, sexy (in the not overly so), and oh so fun and adorable to read. Sometimes it gets to be too much but that mostly depends on your level of cuteness. Okay I have got to stop—I’m already smiling just by writing this review and recalling the book.
My only major complaint is that I kind of, just a teensy weensy bit, need the next book soon aka like right now. I am prepared to bake a dozen cupcakes for it (with those cute sprinkles on top too).

Tessa Crimson (awesome name, right?) is more than just the captain of Washington High's cheerleading squad. She's also the leader of S.O.S (Society of Smitten Kittens), the club that catches cheating boyfriends in the act, with evidence!
Lucky for Tessa, she has Aiden. Aiden is the perfect boyfriend: he's sweet, kind, gorgeous, and totally loves her. (I so want an Aiden!). He's not just perfect, he's "strawberry-smoothie purrfect" (there's a ton of adorable kitty references. There's just the small matter that Tessa has been hiding her covert operations from Aiden for the past two years.
But now Aiden's wising up and becoming a bit impatient with Tessa constantly being busy. Because of the busyness with more cases, Tessa doesn't really take notice of Aiden's frustrations. But The Naughty List is maxed out, and every single suspect has been caught - every single one of them has cheated.
Then new girl, Chloe Ferril, shows up and she's very different from Tessa. She's provocative and crude and seems to have her sights set directly on the most unattainable guy in school, Aiden. Tessa knows that this is one girl who isn't going to retract her claws until she hooks them into Aiden.
Tessa has never worried about her and Aiden's "strawberry-smoothie purrfect" relationship, until his name shows up on The Naughty List. Now, Tessa must investigate the one person she never considered to be as naughty as the others. Did Aiden betray her, or are they still as "strawberry-smoothie purrfect" as she thought them to be?
If there's one thing that is "strawberry-smoothie purrfect," it's THE NAUGHTY LIST! I fell so in love with Tessa, Aiden, Kira, and Leona that I didn't want to see this story end. I love how Tessa doesn't curse and instead improvises with phrases like "Jingle Bells!," "Shake and bake,!" and my personal favorite, "Peanut butter sandwiches!"
Kira had some of the most reasonable advice out of them all, even though she seems to be a couple of kittens short of a litter most of the time. But Tessa would totally have to be my favorite. She's adorable and hilarious, and despite her flaws, she has the sincerest of intentions.
Of course, there always has to be the practical voice of reason and the one to keep everything and everyone organized, and that would be where Leona comes in. Leona is so funny! She tends to be the one to say exactly what Tessa is thinking, but won't say herself because it's un-kitten-like. Leona is that girl who doesn't give a care what anyone says; she's just going to say whatever she wants - I love that!
And I can't forget Aiden. He's sweet and adorable and the epitome of the dream boyfriend! He's so supportive and patient (at least way more than I would be), at least for a long time. I mean, how many guys want and like painting their girlfriend's toenails? But even the most perfect couples have their flaws.
The writing is fantastic and the story is uniquely adorable. It's fun and quick and purrfect for any kitties out there who want to curl up with a fantastic story for a few hours. Summer better hurry, because I need the sequel, SO MANY BOYS, like yesterday!
This was a great read! Unexpectedly touching and sweet, I really ended up feeling for Tessa as she tried so hard to be perky, shiny and full of pep, in the face of circumstances that might have harshed the mellow of a lesser spirit. When this started out, it was kind of a combo of Legally Blonde and Bring It On, with a private detective, cheater catching overlay. Even Tessa's name "Crimson") seems like it's out of a Clue game, she's a bit of a cheer/spy stereotype. But as the story goes on, Tessa becomes more real, more multi-faceted (a tesseract?)(maybe that's why her room is "full of prisms"), and as the conflicting demands of her complicated life start to pull her apart, she becomes a sympathetic character you can't help root for as she struggles so hard to keep it together. Darker threads continue to pervade the story, which, even as it stays fun (and funny) deals with some pretty horrific and sketchy cheating incidents, all of which Tessa faithfully photographs and documents. Eventually seeing so much leads to a pretty deep cynicism on her part, and makes her vulnerable to being played by someone willing to exploit the trust issues created by so much relationship drama. I did feel like Tessa deserved a bit of a break by the end of the book she is pretty much bereft of everything she worked so hard to achieve, through no fault of her own, indeed, despite all her efforts to keep it together. I hope by the third book (when is that coming out, anyway? Goodreads said November 2010, but obviously that's not happening) we'll see Tessa back on top, without quite so many knives sticking out of her back. She is one smexy chick, so let's hope she gets what she deserves.
Flirty and fun, The Naughty List is an entertaining read but holds plenty of drama and emotion. Young does an incredible job blending the various aspects of this book, investing the reader in the plot line early on. From the start, the reader is smoothly eased into the set up, falling into a well paced plot and wanting to know how things will play out.
Tess is a very lively character, full of pep and unique euphemisms. Though she’s head cheerleader and certainly has her vanity and ditz type of moments, she is an intelligent, strong willed character. She has a very interesting outlook on life and Young does a fantastic job bringing this character to life. As with any good character, Tess holds her own flaws and as the story progresses, she finds certain aspects of her life falling more out of control. Her story is an engaging one, pulling the reader on the same emotional roller coaster she experiences and though there is certainly a “stereotypical” couple set up, this book is anything but cliché and mundane. She is easy to like for any reader, no matter what their high school experience had been like. Though she may be popular, she is far from cruel and holds herself to very high standards in her appearance, behaviors and treatment of others.
Aiden is Tess’ boyfriend and the captain of the basketball team. They are the perfect couple, having a long two year relationship under their belts. Lust and love are intermixed for them, playing off smoothly for their situation. Tess has her boyfriend and perfect social life, but hidden beneath it is her SOS related activities. Aiden is attractive and certainly horny but he is very caring and sweet- and, despite being a jock, he has a brain! Once again, Young casts a perfect blend between stereotypical jock and realistic character holding his own ability to think and experience a range of emotions. Aiden is a very likable character because of how well developed he is and many of the scenes with him and Tess are cute, fun and enjoyable.
Christian is another very well built character, shifting between being likable and irritating. His motivations are not easily discernible as his actions switch often, helping build mystery with the book. He is attractive with a good sense of humor but holds darker qualities, making both Tess and the reader question him. He is a vital part of the plot and an intriguing addition in general and despite some of his actions, Young still pitches him in a way to garner at least some sympathy from readers.
Although her parents are not constantly around due to their musical jobs and therefore many late nights at gigs, they trust Tess- a trust she has earned. Tess’ relationship with her parents is refreshingly open apart from her secret regarding SOS. It is their late nights that allow her to sneak around and spy on potential cheaters but the reader never gets the sense her parents neglect her. This is a strong feature of the book for me, and despite their late nights and travel, it is clear how much Tess’ parents care for her and how active they are in her life.
The plot is amusing, propelled easily by Young’s strong writing and her innate ability to possess a very vivid YA voice. Tess’ mentality comes through easily, with everything sliding along smoothly on the pages, even when her comments are airheaded or shallow. Although some aspects of the plot were predictable, it’s to be expected with the story line and premise- and with the way Young chose to play things out. Although obviously and necessarily extreme in how many cheaters these girls found in their school, the number of cheaters and cases explored made for a great plot set up and the case reports were fantastic additions. The entire operation was well thought out and executed and it brought a certain spark to the book as a whole.
With some incredibly intense and emotional scenes to break up the flirty, overall fun nature of this story, The Naughty List is a fantastic read. Tess and Aiden’s relationship is a beautifully played out one, holding all the truth of teenage love and showing how two teens can be in a long relationship. Even when things start being turned upside down, Young continues to hold a teenage state of mind and responses. Everything leads up to a very fantastic ending, leaving the book open for the sequel but providing plenty of closure for the events of The Naughty List.

Suzanne Young's debut novel was so unbelievably fun! I loved the entire premise and the characters and dialogue had me laughing aloud! THE NAUGHTY LIST has prompted me to make sure I always have room on my bookshelf for Young's novels.
The most noteable aspect of Young's novel is the creative language. Tessa, the main character, doesn't curse, but uses substitute words and phrases. I too use substitutes for swearing, so I found Tessa's practice entertaining - and I picked up a few more phrases to add to my repetoire! And that is so strawberry smoothie!
My favorite part of the novel was all the spy tactics and undercover work the girls do to catch cheaters in action. The action was great and I could clearly imagine all of the sticky situations they found themselves in!
I really identified with Tessa, especially her hopelessness about guys and their faithfulness. I definitely understood why Tessa slipped into her negative mindset, especially with all the cheating she observes. I liked that Young kept readers unsure about Tessa's boyfriend's faithfulness... I really wasn't sure if her was cheating or not until near the end of the novel.
I feel that I must mention that this book is not as "fluffy" as the summary may lead you to believe. Yes, it is an extremely fun read, but I feel that it has some substance too!
Cover Comments: I thought that the cover of THE NAUGHTY LIST fit the feel of the book. The pink was eye-catching and as cute as the Smitten Kittens themselves. The fact that the shades are partway down draws attention to spying aspect of the novel. Plus, I love the tagline: Is your boyfriend on it?
For a huge part of this book, I kept repeating to myself,"Am I going to finish this book? Am I really?" But I did, albeit I feel like yawning into the next century and then some. Perseverance, people.
The MC could get really annoying sometimes but she didn't really bother me, besides always pestering everyone to not cuss. WHY? It's their business. I don't mind if she doesn't cuss, but berating people she's known for one day? SERIOUSLY? Personally, that would be the deal breaker for me in a potential girlfriend. I kinda figured out the whole deal with Aiden and the new siblings; in fact, The turn the story took towards the end was nice, and the tone of it reminded a little of The Boyfriend List- this is something I really didn't want to say because that book is far, far, so fucking far above this one, it's on them floating islands. Same goes for Ruby; Tessa could never, ever compare to her. Still, I felt like there was some kind of resemblance between the two books. The Naughty List is not as realistic, characters not as vivid, or tightly portrayed and all that jazz.
Another itty-bitty: the blurb already reveals what happens wayyyyyyy after the 50% mark in the book. WHAT THE HELL, PEOPLE?
I had a couple of notes but eh, lost them, don't care.
Maybe I'll pick up the next book, mayyyyybeeeeeeeee. Hope it's better than this one. It wasn't even that funny or fluffy.
Here is my one sentence review for The Naughty list: Espionage, lively cheerleaders, and very naughty boys... equal one debut that I found unputdownable!
What an excellent debut and an entertaining start to a new series!
Young’s depiction of a cheerleading squad turned cheater investigators was ingenious. I mean, who would think a group of cheerleaders would be the masterminds, behind a secret group taking down one cheater at a time! I never would have. And yet it totally worked.
Characterization was great as well. Even the characters with smaller roles really stood out and made an impression. Tessa was an endearing character. She had an excellent voice, even though it was a little cheesy sometimes. For some reason I found her out-bursts of “strawberry smoothie” & “apple dippers” to be likable! Usually I’d find that to be annoying, but for Tessa’s character it just worked.
I loved Tessa and Aidan’s relationship, although it doesn’t turn out exactly how I wanted it to, I remember that feeling of intoxicating love all to well.
The plot, while it seems predictable, definitely kept me guessing.
The Naughty List wasn’t at all what I was expecting, it was better! I can not wait to read the rest of the series! I wish I had book two in my hands right now.
The Naughty List is just as cute and adorable as the cover it has proving it to be a series that you should definitely be keeping an eye on.
Tessa, along with the rest of SOS, was a blast to read about. Since, for one, I admired how they would put themselves in jeopardy just because they wanted to make one girl's live easier by finding out if her boyfriend was a keeper or a loser. Further more, each had distinctive personality that made them easy to distinguish from the others.
The plot, just like the characters, was fun to read about. I loved seeing their top secret missions and the drama that had the tendency to come from them. Plus, the relationship between Aiden (love his name!) and Tessa was such a cute addition.
My only compliant was the ending. Though, that's just because I can't wait to see what happens next to everyone.
Overall, The Naughty List is a fab debut by Ms. Young and I have to say I'm stoked to see what she comes up with next!
Hook up with their secret society of spies and chase down cheating boyfriends, of course. What were YOU thinking?
This book is hands down one of the funniest things I've ever read. The main character has a fantastic and highly original voice and the plot is fast-paced and fun! A must-read--over and over again!
I wonder if Tessa and Aiden are always together, when does Tessa study? How she became top in her class and her cheerleader activity as well. Hmmm.. Total mystery. I kinda have mixed feeling toward Tessa and Aiden but overall I like them. Nevertheless, I had fun reading this book. I love the ending. It surprised me. Let's say I read synopsis for book two so I kinda predict how this book end but I am totally wrong!
Meet the Smitten Kittens. Sounds kind of sexy, huh? Alluring in that mysterious way. If you knew what they were doing, though, sexy wouldn’t even come into it. In fact, the Smitten Kittens are all about busting cheating boyfriends from doing the sexy with people other than their other half. The male adolescent population of Washington High is more than a little naughty, it seems.
The squad – which double as a cheer squad by day – have high tech spy equipment and have a well organized system of spying on the boys at their school. They take requests from girlfriends who suspect their boyfriends are cheating, and investigate till the allegations are either cleared, or confirmed. Unfortunately, they’ve never had the opportunity to clear anyone’s name because every single suspect has been found guilty. Every single one.
Tessa is the only girl left on the squad who actually has a boyfriend. Over time, the others all dumped theirs because they were caught cheating. Then, Tessa’s boyfriend’s name shows up on the list, and with a one hundred percent confirmed cheating rate so far, it isn’t looking good for Tessa and Aiden. But maybe he’s innocent, he seems like a nice guy, after all. Could he be the first boyfriend to ever be cleared of all charges?
Initially, I couldn’t decide exactly how I felt about this book, or for whom exactly the target audience might be. Tessa comes across as a good, wholesome character. She doesn’t curse, and always corrects those around her that do. She uses expressions like strawberry smoothie, for example, instead of actual curse words. She’s an excellent friend to her fellow squad members, a great student, and an all-round shiny, happy girl. At first I thought this was going to be a clean and wholesome novel for younger readers, but then I discovered that Tessa sleeps with her boyfriend and sneaks around in the middle of the night, lying to her parents and Aiden about what she’s doing, and spies on people till dawn. And Tessa is the only one that doesn’t curse; it seems the book is littered with swear words and over active adolescent hormonal activity. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, either, I’m just saying that Tessa’s character confused me.
I found myself trying to decode the messages that came attached to Tessa’s character. By creating a character like Tessa, is Suzanne Young is attempting to send a message that teen sex is okay? After all, Tessa is a really nice girl that is seemingly good in every other way. Does the fact that she’s sexually active make her a bad role model for teen girls? I really couldn’t decide. I’m inclined to say no, but I felt uncomfortable making that judgement alone. What I did like about Tessa is that, especially at the beginning, she is committed to Aiden and although she is well aware of her sexual allure and uses that on Aiden a lot, she doesn’t really flounce it around in front of everyone else. She isn’t promiscuous and she obviously has a lot of self-respect, which I think is important when setting up a potential role model for teens today.
The whole book left me feeling a little uneasy, which I suppose is actually a good thing because I thought about it for hours after I finished it, trying to figure out whether I liked it, how to categorize it, what the underlying messages were. While there was obviously a formula that went into the plot, it seemed there was a lack of formula that went into creating the characters, setting, tone, etc. I found this quite refreshing and I think others will too.
I think this book would be a great jumping point for book clubs and discussion circles that wanted to talk and debate the issue of teen sex and teen relationships.
Tessa Crimson (awesome name, right?) is more than just the captain of Washington High’s cheerleading squad. She’s also the leader of S.O.S (Society of Smitten Kittens), the cheerleader’s club that catches cheating boyfriends in the act, with evidence!

My Thoughts: What can I say about The Naughty List that hasn't already been said? A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I loved it! It was so cute! The references were cute! There were so many little one liners like “Strawberry Smoothie." The relationships were cute! The friendships were cute! The Naughty List was adorable!
We are introduced to Tessa Crimson who is the head cheerleader of SOS and also the head spy of their secret group! They investigate boyfriends of cheating! Tessa is very determined to be wrong about any guy brought to their attention! She wants to know there is one boy out there besides Aiden who is clean and won't cheat on his girlfriend. I loved their investigations and the dilemma's they got themselves into. I loved how Tessa would dress in black clothes to make her more covert. I also loved the cheater reports! They were very clever.
Tara is fun loving and has a great attitude. She fights for what she wants, and accomplishes it.
Tessa is also dating Aiden and has been for 2 years now. They are the perfect couple and are very happy together. The problem? Tessa hates lying to Aiden about her double life. He does not know anything about her investigations! I loved Aiden! He was so very sweet and he even would paint Tessa's toenails! Where do I get a boyfriend like that? He was perfect. He would never cheat on her, right? A new boy and girl enter the school. Christian and Chloe, brother and sister and a handful of trouble. We notice that Christian has his eyes set on Tessa and Chloe seems to always be talking to Aiden a lot more than she should be.
Christian is always flirting with Tessa, and Tessa does her best to ignore him. She feels a little bit of spark towards him but definitely not enough to do anything about it. Yes, he's handsome but he's no Aiden. She loves Aiden. She starts to notice that Aiden seems distant and he is spending more and more time with Chloe.
Than what happens? She gets a report to SOS that Aiden is cheating on her with Chloe and she starts to doubt his feelings and starts to spy on him. Christian ends up helping her but Tessa realizes things aren't always what they appear to be.
Do you want to know who Tessa ends up with? Aiden or Christian or neither or both? Read the book to find out.
I loved The Naughty List. It was very awesome! I loved everything that happened. I loved Aiden and Tessa's feelings to each other. I even liked Christian a bit.
Overall: The Naughty List was wonderful! A great debut by Young! I'm excited to read her next book!
Cover: Love the cover! Its awesome! I love how pink it is and how she's draped over him holding him down! Its very cute and sexy!
Head cheerleader Tessa, along with the SOS or Society of Smitten Kittens, spends her days keeping things peppy at high school and her nights catching cheating boyfriends. Through an anonymous cell phone and top-secret correspondence, the SOS receives cheater reports and then susses out truth and proof by going on daring missions and employing spy tactics. When Tessa's boyfriend Aiden shows up on the list after the transfer of a meddlesome, attractive brother-and-sister pair, Tessa begins to lose control. After all, the SOS has a 100% proven-guilty rating. What are the chances of Aiden being an exception?
I loved so many things about this book. Tessa and her friends make it easy to get caught up the story. The voice is original and fun and Young brings depth, realism, and intrigue to the cheerleader stereotype. There’s a lot more going on here than your average high school drama, a subtle message I think a lot of teens will relate and respond to. And who doesn't want to read about a secret society?!
But it’s more than just a great cast of characters with a fun story to tell. Young used her tools as a writer and found ways to make the writing and story really memorable. By incorporating fun Cheater Incident Reports, alternative cuss words (“Mashed potatoes and gravy!”), and other secret (and oftentimes hilarious) correspondence, I feel she turned an already fun read into something unique and engaging. I can imagine myself as one of these cooperative cheerleader spies, dishing out pep and bad news in equal, saucy amounts for the betterment of my high school.
It’s a fast, well-paced read with an engaging plot and story line. I was pleasantly surprised by the turn of events and extremely satisfied by the ending. That’s a biggie for me. I have to give props to authors that can write a realistic, satisfying ending and Young did. It’s not the perfect romantic ending we'd all wish for ourselves but it’s real and it’s hopeful. So, kudos Suzanne.
The Naughty List is one of the best chick-lit books I have ever read. It was the perfect mix of romance, spying, and cheerleading. Once I started it, I could not put it down. It was just too cute.
Tessa Crimson is not just the head cheerleader of the Smitten Kittens. She is the leader of the SOS (society of Smitten Kittens). She and her fellow cheerleaders investigate suspected cheaters for the girls of their school. The sad thing is, every boy they have investigated has been found guilty. Are there any boys left who don't cheat? And what happens when Tessa's perfect boyfriend, Aiden, shows up on the naughty list?
So basically the whole book is about cheating. At first, that seemed a little depressing to me but Suzanne Young made it perfect. It was just the right mix of serious and funny. Each case was a bit different and each method for catching the cheater was pretty comical. Tessa and the SOS really knew what they were doing but they still got themselves into some crazy situations.
Also, each character was unique. I loved them all, even Christian who wasn't the best person. Okay wait, I didn't like Chloe but the rest I did. I couldn't even find one good thing about her. Tessa was a great leader and a great heroine. She was super easy to relate to and she had flaws, like every other person in the world. Also, I loved Aiden! He was so cute and sweet. I want one! I do have to say, though, that Kira was my favorite. She made the book so much more funny than if she hadn't been in it. I couldn't help but laugh at some of the things she said and did.
Overall, The Naughty List is a book to buy and Suzanne Young is an author to look out for. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I was to read more about Tessa, Aiden, Kira, and the rest. And I want to read it NOW!!!
The Naughty List by debut author Suzanne Young is sure to be a hit! With characters that most readers will enjoy and a plot that never lets you down, this book is certainly entertaining.
While reading TNL, I became quite fond of SOS members Tessa, Kira, and Leona. Each character had a distinct personality and brought something new and creative to the table. What I liked most about the girls was that all three had depth. Rather than being perfect, perky cheerleaders, each was battling her own conflict.
Suzanne Young covers each of the girls' conflicts in a dynamic plot. I was intrigued and did not want the book to end. While I was expecting the book to be predictable, it was not at all. The constant twists, turns, and action of the girls' sleuthy work kept me laughing and on the edge of my seat.
While I found the book to be fantastic, it was not perfect. There were two things about The Naughty List that irked me. The first was the excessive amount of sexual references. Though most were tastefully written, they began to annoy me a bit. The second thing that bothered me was the excessive amount of cute sayings. "Strawberry smoothie!" was adorable and all, but some of the sayings were overpowering and made parts of the book extra cheesy.
Overall I found The Naughty List to be great fun and can't wait to read So Many Boys, the next book in the series!
This book was awesome - there's no other way to put it. It had a enticing plot, spectaluar writing, and fabulous characters you can connect with. Every moment of it is fast paced and a total page turner. It's a book as cute as it's cover!
I loved the Smitten Kittens. The attitude and commitment they had to their cause took guts, and it was great to read about. All the expressions Suzanne Young throws in The Naughty List were great. Tessa, the main character, frequently deems things "so strawberry smoothie!" or when things don't go quite right "sugarplum fairies" - they're so catchy! I wouldn't be suprised if I start using them everyday! Tessa, Kira and Leona are the three you here from the most, and I loved the depth they all had. They weren't just the perky cheerleaders who help other girls out. They weren't perfect and each had their own battle to face.
The first time I read the summary for The Naughty List, I thought the plot sounded adorable and it was! There were so many moments I was laughing as the girls went on their cheater exposing missions.
The Naughty List is a book to make you smile and feel good about yourself. This is definately a series you don't want to miss!
The Naughty List is really what young adult fiction is all about, just simple fun with some meaning but not too deep or too shallow - it's just right and leaves you feeling good when you finish it. After reading a lot of books full of meaning and dealing with heavy subjects, it was very refreshing to read The Naughty List.
Centering around cheerleader friends who make up the Smitten Kittens, not only are they cheerleaders, but they are also girls undercover who find out whether your boyfriend is cheating on you are not. Sweet girl cheerleaders by day and stealthy girls by night, these aren't your average everyday cheerleaders. Tessa is a particularly strong female character but she still has insecurities. Through the book her relationship with Aiden seems on the up and up but with a few seeds of doubt planted will Tessa still trust Aiden. And where does she draw the line about whether finding out about cheaters really helps the girls or hurts more.
The Naughty List is a fun quick read with characters that develop before your eyes. The first in a series, I look forward to learning more about some of the other Smitten Kittens and seeing more of Tessa and finding out what happens in her life.
I really enjoyed this book, it was something different from the vampires and paranormal books that I had been reading at the moment. I liked how Tessa was a cheerleader with a secret, like all the other cheerleaders she is a SOS member. I really enjoyed that the SOS group where the main part of the book and the plot was based around the SOS and the cheerleaders involvement within the school.
I liked how the book unfolded and how Tessa was really happy with her relationship with Aiden to start off with and then throughout the book new characters are introduced and Tessa starts to think silly things about Aiden that cause her to get paranoid.
I really didn't like the characters Chloe and Christian because they were very scheming and plotting which I didn't like. They seemed like they didn't have any really potential to gain anything from doing the things that they did to Tessa and Aiden.
I'm so glad that there is another two books in the series because I will be pre-ordering these books because I can't wait until June for the next one to be published. A great book for anyone that loves a good chick-lit novel.
I was actually pretty disappointed in this one. I knew the premise was about cheating boyfriends, but there was a lot of sex and really bad language throughout. I liked Tessa and thought the premise sounded cute and original, and I did enjoy parts of the book. It took a few different turns that I wasn’t expecting and since I did enjoy part of it I decided to give it a couple stars. I just didn’t like all the “hooking up” and bad language. Oh, I also didn’t like that Tessa would constantly say things like “cranberry juice” in place of a swearwords, it was pretty annoying. I also didn’t care for her boyfriend, Aiden. They’d been together for two years and he still swore around her and did other things that he knew she didn’t like; it just seemed like he didnt respecte her and was just using her for “hook ups”. Again, just disappointed, I think it had a lot of potential but went a totally different way.
The Naughty List is a debut novel that will totally sweep you of your feet! It's fun, cheerful, and fabulous!
I was completely charmed by the main character, Tess because of her spunk, determination, and up-beat attitude. The fact that there was the mystery revolving around SOS, was just an added bonus! When I read The Naughty List, I couldn't help but fall for Aiden a little bit too! He was basically the perfect boyfriend any girl would ever want.
The only thing that bothered me a little was his weird obsession with Tess's feet. It creeped me out a bit at first, but then I got used to it and figured that that was Aiden's way of being unique. The actual high-school atmosphere of The Naughty List was the normal cliche-ish backdrop, but Suzanne Young achieved in making it her own, different world.
Do not be fooled by the pink cover. The Naughty List by Suzanne Young definitely ran the gamut of emotions, as ninja-Cheerleader-spy Tessa comes to suspect her too-perfect boyfriend Aiden of cheating. Basically the high school that Tessa goes to is a breeding ground for douchebags, as a large amount of relationships end because one person cheats on the other. Tessa and her cheerleader friends decide to combat this trend by starting a secret society known as SOS. What SOS does is investigate suspected cheaters after being asked and then they deliver results to their patron. So far all of their investigations have led to an answer of guilty. All of the cheaters are basically put on a douchebag-roll aka Naughty List. Read the rest of my review here
The Naughty List was in one word, fun! Such an original storyline and a fresh cast of characters. MC Tessa is cheer captain & feels it's her responsibility to be perfect & upbeat all the time. And most of the time she is, until the new boy in school & his sister seem very interested in Tessa & her boyfriend Aiden. Tessa is a hoot & her detest of swearing leads to funny exclamations such as "Shake & Bake" & "Crocodile Dundee!". Young's story of a cheerleading squad by day & secret organization bent on bringing down cheaters using spy gear is a clever, well written, LOL story I really enjoyed. Though the ending wasn't what I expected from such a fun story it did make me very excited to check out it's sequel.
This book is like candy-- sweet and totally addicting! You're going to love the perky personality of Tess, the girl who seems to have the perfect life. That is, until she suspects her boyfriend is cheating.
And, as a member of SOS-- the society of smitten Kittens, a group of cheerleaders who investigate cheaters-- she would know a cheater when she saw one. Wouldn't she?
Would her perfect boyfriend really do that?
Fast paced, humorous, and loads of fun, you'll tear through the pages of THE NAUGHTY LIST and clamor for the sequel.
I enjoyed reading The Naughty List--a cute, peppy book that had more depth than I was expecting from the premise. Tessa, the cheerleader-turned-covert-operator main character, is consistent and well-drawn, with an emotional range to match her school spirit (though I do have to wonder about her spy skills...). The book is fluffy, sure, but it's also steamy. The pacing was perfect--a quick and entertaining read. Rah-rah-rah! for Tessa and the Smitten Kittens!
