Don't be fooled! The book title might make you think this is a massive, technical, complex commentary larded with Greek for the cognoscenti. In reality this is the second volume of sermons preached by Phil Ryken a few years ago at Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia. They are easy to read, heart-warming, and full of Christ.

Ryken has made use of earlier commentaries in his preparation, particularly from David Gooding, and includes helpful, illuminating quotations from them. Most sermons are about 12-14 pages long, set out with headings for his main points, and have application sprinkled throughout. They are straightforward both to read and to understand.

Any Christian would find reading one a day provides a substantial spiritual meal, and focusses the day on Jesus and what he has done for us.

Admittedly the two volumes aren't cheap, between £4o and £50 but they contain 112 sermons which means you get solid scriptural encouragement for about 40p a day. Bargain!
