Introducing Princess Amanda. This engaging, redheaded 11-year-old princess can't wait to spend some time with her very busy parents. But when plans change and she must go to a party for her cousin instead, she decides to find her own fun. She never imagines she'll end up pretending to be an American!Meet American tourist Emily Chornak, an energetic, redheaded 11-year-old who is accompanying her parents on a business trip to England. Emily hopes to sightsee with her parents, but business has to come first so she is sent on a "kiddie" tour of the city. When the tour group visits a palace, Emily finds herself mistaken for a party guest. The Duchess of York takes readers into the fascinating world of a princess's life and introduces two marvelously different but equally appealing characters. Together Amanda and Emily form a friendship that shows how wonderful it is to be exactly who you are.
Another one of my childhood books and while I remember liking this one as a kid, rereading it as an adult wasn't that fun for me. Both these girls are spoiled brats who are the special most special girls ever. Like am I supposed to care that the Princess ? Granted, as a kid I loved the royal family and now I'm an abolitionist. Normally I don't really care when it's fictional monarchies in books but considering this was written by Fergie who at the time was a Duchess.
Also I know this was written in the 90s but it was pretty fatphobic towards one character. Like how many times can she be called round? Ew.
Anyways Katy Wix is the best Fergie and I'll probably be donating this.
