I'm so happy I found a safe read! Soooooooooooooooooooo cuuuuuuuuuuuuuteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I want to be mistaken for a Gryfala Princess and I want my own Rakii Gladior and my team of hobs!

Seriously I have so much to say about this book, thank you Kriss for the recommendation and Susani for the saftety info. Not a full 5 unfortunately, but I'm so recommending this to the safety gang. If you can ignore the editing and a weird second half, you'll love this.

A classic SFR alien romance with all the works none of the pitfalls! Oh, this takes me to my happy place :)

I really enjoyed the early chapters, which were fraught with miscommunication and alien mating custom nonsense. So good. This is the kind of silly sweetness that makes alien romances into such good palate cleansers.

Angie is your average human girl abducted from Earth and sold at an extraterrestrial slave auction. Arokh is an alien gladiator who finds her being abused and rescues her, thinking that she is one of the Gryfala alien princesses his kind are born to protect but never to possess.

Safety warning: the romance is very sweet and pretty safe. Arokh has some typically tropey issues with possessiveness and aggressive mating instincts once he forms a bond with her, but the hero treats her with respect as much as he can. (In fact, he puts up with a lot of dumb stuff from her end, too.) HOWEVER, the book occasionally gets wildly graphic and dark in other respects—one second, they’re on a cute date, and the next, someone’s tearing the wings off their alien crew and pouring acid in the wounds. Be prepared for some whiplash.

I had fun reading this book and definitely look forward to the next books. I do have two small complaints though:

1. Angie is ridiculous. She’s constantly whining and bursting into tears over the tiniest inconveniences. I understand that being torn from your life and abused by slavers is traumatic and would leave you a little high-strung even after you’re rescued, but Angie seriously acts like a child. There’s a scene where the kind aliens try to give her a shot to inoculate her against alien diseases, and she throws a crying, thrashing, screaming fit about it. GIRL. What are you, a toddler?

2. This should have been RH! Why give Angie so many adorable sweet aliens who pursue her, in an alien society where taking more than one mate is the norm, and then not let her at least test drive all the alien options?? Sigh.

Luckily some of the future installments in the series are RH as far as I know so hopefully complaint #2 will be remedied soon.

Wow! I am thoroughly surprised by this book. For a debut novel it was fabulous. There were things here or there that could be improved on but I absolutely loved this story. It caught my interest from page one and I couldn't put it down. Thanks B.E.Love for putting this on my radar.

Arokh was an amazing hero. He heard Angie's screams and knew immediately he needed to help her, protect her. Obviously there was some miscommunication due to the difference in species. But it all gets sorted out. He was so tender and loving towards Angie.

"To think that my growing devotion to her was a danger… It didn't feel like it should be a bad thing. It didn't feel wrong."

And his blanket...my heart just melted. Even when he thought he had to give her up he still protected her and loved her. He was so swoon-worthy.

"I did not consider my princess deformed. Not like the other Gryfala surely would. But my Angie? She was absolutely perfect."

Angie was a great heroine. She was sweet and kind. I loved how she didn't fight her attraction to Arokh very long and she decided she was never giving him up. She was as good to him as he was to her.

I will definitely be stalking this author anxiously waiting for book 2.

The first half of the book was so good. I really enjoyed it and had a hard time putting this one down. I even secretly fell in love with this big alien. But alas, the story in the second half didn't hit the right note for me. It was meh, ridiculous, and a bit over the top. I thought I picked up the wrong book! The more I read, the less interesting it became. I must admit I had to skim through some pages just to finish it.

The ending was unimpressive. Worse than expected. Why it had to end like that!!

I don't see myself reading the next book of this series...

This is what sci fi romance should be. This wasn't just "Mars Needs Women!" like so many entries in this subgenre are. This story had logical clear world building and aliens who look and more importantly act alien. The story is told in alternate chapters from the hero who is the alien and the heroine who has been captured from Earth by slavers. The hero saves her because he thinks she is a princess of a race which his people revere. There is a language barrier so she is frightened and pretty mystified about what is going on. But since he saves her from the guys who bought her who were trying to rape her she considers him at least a better option. They learn to care for each other while on the run on the slave planet.

I dropped one star because I felt the story lost a bit of its luster after they got to the planet where all the other girls showed up. It took the focus off the main couple plus I would have preferred to read the stories about the other women in their own books without the spoilers provided by this one.

On the whole though I would almost giddy with the enjoyment this well done story provided. On another note, as another reviewer stated, the title of this one does the book a disservice. It is just so generic and the cover doesn't help either. I hope there are many more books in the series, sign me up!

Surprising...in a good way!

Despite the editing errors and lackluster cover art, this book managed to hit on all of my alien romance feels! Arokh was definitely my kind of alien: a hulking brute with the right blend of possessive and vulnerable. And the best part? He's actually an alien! Not just a hot guy with swirling tattoos and glowing eyes. He's scaled, horned, and breathes fire for goodness sakes! Probably the best alien romance I've read all summer. Will definitely be looking out for more from this author!

I loved everything, except the ending.

These days I'm super busy with work, so reading hasn't been on the menu for almost half a year. Yes, it sounds crazy but life sucks... so when I finally got time for the holidays to read, I really wanted it to be a good, solid story that I wouldn't regret reading it. And I had my eyes on this one ever since I've heard about it (maybe over half a year ago). I'm glad to say that it didn't let me down. The plot was really refreshing and unique. Also the pairing of the two MCs is something I haven't read in a while. One character a human, who's been abducted to be enslawed and the other an alien, that's been in search for his missing family member. In appearance they couldn't be more different. But on the inside, all that matters is a good heart. And somehow these two make it work. I really enjoyed their conversations and how they slowly figured thing out. The only thing that I was disappointed in was the ending. I wished for more, since it felt a bit like the ending was rushed. I'm sure the author will continue to explore the new world in her next books, so I'm not overly mad about that.
All in all, a great story.

Before we get into my review, I gotta say it. The cover is awful. I won't beat up on it too much, since the author is self-publishing and there comes a certain territory with it, but I will say that it initially did turn me away, but since I kept seeing a huge amount of 4 and 5 star reviews and saw that this book was not only just 99 cents but was also 400 pages (I kind of make a rule to not buy a kindle book that's under 200 pages; otherwise I feel like I'm not getting much for my money, you know?) I decided it was worth a shot to download and try.

And like a lot of other reviewers said, despite the ugly cover, this is a pretty great book if you're into alien stories (which I am). This book actually has a lot in common with some other titles I like (and by that I mean themes/vibes, not like they rip off one another!) such as Transcendence by Shay Savage and Ruth's Bonded by V.C. Lancaster (the only difference is that, in this book, eventually Arokh and Angie can speak to each other, whereas the two prior books have to communicate in other ways the entire time). A lot of the book is dedicated to alternating POVs where we see our two leads, Angie and Arokh, figure out one another and develop feelings. There's a bit of a plot, but this is mostly a character driven thing, intended to showcase their relationship first and other things second.

Arokh was sweet and good; just the kind of lead I like! He cared a lot about Angie and had a lot of reservations in place--he was afraid of overstepping, always very conscious of her wants and needs, and when there's doubt planted in his mind that Angie might not be considered mature/an adult, he backs away in absolute shame for engaging in intimate things with her, thinking he corrupted her and did something horrible. He came across as very honorable and affectionate and didn't ever strike me as a doormat or anything like that. There's a big emotional journey for him between what he's been taught to do and what he wants to do and it's nice to see him resolve his feelings and find happiness. Angie was also pretty likeable and I rooted for her. My only qualm with her was sometimes the language she used; I don't know, sometimes certain traits of modern English come across so jarring in books, it was a little bit of a bother but that's on me as a preference and not really a flaw in the story/writing.

Some people might kind of throw up an air of disbelief that Angie could so quickly resign herself to being with an alien who clearly isn't human (what with the tail, horns, fire-breath, spikes, etc), but this is fiction and a sci-fi fantasy that isn't trying to be hyper-realistic, just tell a good story with a lot of fun, different elements to it. If you can get past that, this is really quite a sweet, fun, engaging read. I devoured all 400 pages in a few hours and loved every minute.

Now, as a warning, the book starts off with Angie in the midst of being sexually assaulted and while her attackers don't succeed in penetrating her and Angie seems to recover from it all without too much issue since Arokh intervened before too much could happen and immediately set to soothing and taking care of her, I just want to put it out there for anyone who might want to know! It's over with very fast right at the beginning, but it is there, and later we are introduced to a character who was not so fortunate (her story is covered in book #2 and deals more with recovering from that trauma) we aren't given explicit/intense details.

The series also follows a slightly similar pattern to the Ice Planet Barbarians series in that there are several people in this tale we're introduced to--both humans and aliens--whose stories we'll follow up in the next books as they get pared with each other. There might be a larger plot introduced that weaves itself into all the stories or something, or we might just have a bunch of stories about aliens and humans finding love and acceptance and happiness, either way, I think I'm going to keep an eye on the series and hope for more great tales of love between these sweet, affectionate aliens and a collection of women from earth.

I definitely recommend if you think the general plot is interesting, or you liked either of the two books I listed before.

So, if you have been following my reviews then you should already know that I am a huge paranormal lover. Ruby Dixon introduced me to aliens with her Ice Planet Barbarians series a couple of years ago. I adore them and decided to branch out a bit. I was hoping to find another alien romance to devour. I stumbled across this series and decided to give it a go.

As much as I want to tell you that I adored it, I can't. It was just okay - at best. I'm not sure if my standards are just so high because I'm comparing it to IPB or it just wasn't my cup of tea. However, it had all my favorite points for a alien romance.

Well, I guess I have read worse alien abduction romances.
The first half was interesting, although I didn‘t like quite a few things (how they communicated or better how they didn‘t, how late they ask for a name, how the heroine reacted and so on), but the second half of the book was more of a mess.
It was also too long, too many useless scenes that didn‘t really did something for story or romance.

I didn‘t like the heroine, but the H was quite the adorable hunk. He is absolutely devoted to his woman - and although I do not like the concept of hobs and Gryfalas and how it is created here, this combination lead to some sweet scene between the two.

If you are a fan of the sub genre of Science Fiction Romance that features abducted humans adjusting to aliening cultures, this book will be your jam.

The title is awful. Why is it awful? Impossible to remember as unique and makes the book about a kind genre erotic fetish (not that there is anything wrong with that) than about the romance, plot, characters, and fun of the themes of the sub genre.

If this book hadn't been recommended to me and on Kindle Unlimited. I would never had taken the chance of picking it up.

Having read and really enjoyed it, I will try to follow the writer (social media and website aren't up yet) and hope Milo puts out more books in this series and world.

The world building is really good with fully realized culture of the hero and the people that he assumes the heroine is from.

There are hints that other cultures and HEAs will be explored like cat like aliens and amphibious aliens. A poly love set of space pirates. Woo hoo!

Our hero is a super thoughtful, protective, respectful, brave loving warrior elephant/rhino dragon humanoid alien. Yea! He was great.

The heroine is great too though she could be much more developed. Sometimes, we suddenly just find out stuff about her like we knew it all along. She is funny and practical.

The couple is on the run and the hero is dealing with all his cultural norms and bonding. The heroine is just adjusting. There is a language barrier for a while that is well done.

They just like each other and so their falling in love makes sense and make me happy.

Okay, so...need that website and news of the next book....

-Kindle Unlimited. It’s my favorite way to test out new-to-me authors and I’m so glad I borrowed this book.

-Crackilicious read. Alien sci-fi roms tend to fall in my cracky read category because aliens. It’s about as escapist fantasy as it can get and when real life gets stressful, my reads get crackier and crackier. This reminds me in tone to my other cracky addiction, The Ice Planet Barbarians series. It’s not a dupe but it certainly gave me the same kind of feels with the romance, and I think the worldbuilding worked well and i expect to learn more as the the ‘verse grows. The information is given to the reader in a way that doesn’t interrupt the flow of the narrative. While I had some questions, there was enough to keep me entertained and turning that page.

-The sitch. The story begins with Arokh, the hero’s POV, but switches between his and Angie, his human heroine, who he thinks is a Gryfala, a prized and beautiful species on his home planet. His people, Rakhii, are typically guards for the Gryfalas and they protect them. They do NOT fall in love because bad things, man, bad things. Anyway, human Angie has been kidnapped from Earth and is on the verge of being horribly attacked when Arokh rescues her. The story is mostly of them on the run on this slaver planet while trying to find a way off. And along the way, why yes romance happens.

-Arokh is great. Arokh is the kind of hero that’s like catnip to me - more gamma than anything. Alpha when he needs to be, possessive yet a sweetly gentle and caring hero who is ALL about his woman. I am here for that type of story, all day long, not gonna lie.

-Angie is sympathetic. She goes through alot (though not as much as other humans) and is as confused and scared as anyone would be, but she manages to keep her head, survive and adapt to the precarious situation. I always understood her motivations and I enjoyed her sense of humor.

-Story kind of peters out. A couple of things could have worked better. The “on the run” part was a tad underdone and other than their relationship, there’s a few story threads that kind of dangle with no finish. Also a bit of a *insert Price is Right horn here* was the fact that the story comes to a head and then it doesn’t follow through. I don’t mind a overarching storyline for a series, and it’s a clear setup for more books, but I would have liked a stronger finish for Arokh and Angie.

I enjoyed Arokh and Angie’s romance. I would recommend for those who love alien sci-fi roms. I’m diving into the next book in this series.

So this was an interesting sci-fi romance read and this is one for the aliens that look like aliens crowd.
This story centres on Arokh a gladiator prime of the Rakhi and Angie who has been kidnapped from earth and taken to be sold on a slave planet.
So in a case of mistaken identity or in this case species, Arokh mistakes Angie for an abused gryfala a princess his kind have an almost instinctual trust with despite there lower status.
He rescues her from her buyers and vows to keep her safe while escaping from the planet.
There's a language barrier and with this part of the story, its all instinct and trust as the two gradually become acquainted and learn about the other.
he is fascinated by Angie as she, in turn, returns this sentiment.
So this part of the story was my favourite and I loved it.
Especially when he went all primal scent-marking Angie, what should have been Ewww was so very much Ahhh.
Now the second half of this I has some slight issues I felt that Angie had somewhat of a personality transplant.
She was forever making mountains out of molehills and acting erratic.
I had questions like why didn't she reveal the truth about herself when she realised they had mistaken her actual species.
I also thought she should have set firmer boundaries with the added hobs and I was slightly worried that this was maybe heading down a reverse harem route.
Thankfully it wasn't and to clarify I have nothing against reverse harem itself this just didn't give off that vibe initially and it didn't feel right for this story and the character dynamic.
I just felt that Arokh was getting a pretty raw deal and Angie should have been completely team Arokh and show more trust and loyalty towards him.
I was definitely team Arokh all the way and thought Angie needed to step up.
So I adored the pure alienness of the hero and how he was utter gaga for his girl.
I read this in one sitting and this was a great start to this series with some fabulous world-building.
I will certainly be checking out more from this author in the future.
Final thought bloody adore the new cover of this and I would have picked this up for that reason alone it's visually stunning.
This one gets my seal of approval as despite some nitpicks from me I still really enjoyed it.

Well hmmmm....
Arokh the alien with big horns and venomous spines... I gotta say, I was never comfortable (snicker) with all that prickliness.
Angie the average girl from Earth.
... You never learn much about her, but apparently, there's not one single person she misses from Earth.

For the first 25% she can't understand him and it was entertaining as they learned to communicate without words. In fact the first 3rd of the story is reminiscent of an early Kaitlyn O'Connor book.
But then it went downhill for me.
An annoying pair of butterfly men show up and I started to find the story frustrating. Things would happen and the author would work it so that Angie would be unable to voice her opinions. This was the style of the story telling for the rest of the book.
FRUSTRATING!
and annoying.
I skimmed the last 3rd.
... which is hard to do when you are listening to the audiobook!

I also found it annoying how OTT possessive Arokh and the other aliens were. It felt suffocating. (Never thought I'd say that about a possessive hero!)
He literally can't bear to not be near her. Not for a second.

There is no justice and so it didn't feel like an HEA.
Plus there's so much crap at the end with the other couples that I don't plan to read the next book.

Blah blah blah...
oh yeah, and warning: it was more violent than I was expecting.

Safety is good I'm pretty sure he is a virgin, although it is never really stated. She isn't, but ALL her previous relationships were awful. No idea how old she is. The author kept things vague.

I’m on a sci-fi/alien romance binge. When it comes to aliens, the more otherworldly, the better.

Anokh, the MC, is my catnip. I love everything about him. He has a tail (and uses it like a whip), horns, nasal crests, and dorsal spines. He is a fierce gladiator, but his personality is that of a nurturer. With Angie, the human MC, he is exquisitely gentle and unfailingly kind. He puts her needs above everything else and gives himself over to her in devotion.

A large part of my enjoyment for alien and shifter romance is the “mate” mentality. I am totally onboard the possessive mate train, even when it (as it so often does) makes a stop in cray cray town. I just enjoy the ride.

Unfortunately, during the second half of this book, the plot goes a bit off the rails and loses steam. Way too many new characters are introduced and there is a set-up for book two. When the story focuses on just Anokh and Angie, I am enchanted, but the rest...However, my love for Anokh is deep and for his special sweetness I am giving this story four stars.

Really loved this story! The heroine was pretty solid. Not TSTL, not overly annoying and was strong enough to handle her big tough alien. Of course I loved Arokh. How could I not?

I am torn as to whether I can really get into aliens that really look like aliens. Some of it sounds gross and it is distracting for me. However, I just tried to ignore it.

Overall, while this was a classic "mate" story it had more depth and humor.

3 1/2 "Sweet Rakhii Gladiator" Stars!

This book was weird and wonderful; silly and sweet; hokey and hilarious. Overall though, I truly enjoyed this! Arokh completely stole my heart(s)-Lol! you'll have to read it- right from the start.

So why 3 stars rather than 4? The story could use a little more clarity or maybe just fleshing out in the beginning. Ms. Milo started to get into her groove as the story progressed, but it just needed a little work. Also, it needed a lot of editing and formatting. I mostly looked over all that because I truly loved the characters. Especially Arokh. He would take some getting used to aesthetically, but he's got being a protective sweetheart down to an art. I'm looking forward to reading book two. It may be a little more serious than this one, so I'm going to have to wait until I'm in the mood for recovering from extreme trauma. But I will definitely get to it. Happy reading!!

My question is are we SURE Angie is 'mature'? She never did say her age, and because she sure as hell acted very immature.
kidding kidding.

But after the inoculation/ shots scene I was really over her throwing fits and crying all the time..over everything.




but overall I did enjoy the story and the romance- so I would recommend if its on KU!

4.25 Who doesn’t like Alien books

Alien genre was something new for me, but I like it when I’m in that type of mood. I started this book a year ago and I’m not sure why I never finished it. I really enjoyed it. Like I said. You have to be in that type of mood.

If you looking for the damsel in distress story line then this one is for you. Angie wakes up somewhere else and Arokh saves her from being raped by her captives. They don’t understand each other, but they are on the run together.

I enjoy these on-the-run story lines very much. I feel like a lot of bonding and character development can happen when the two main people are on the run for their lives.

The steam is a bit mild in my opinion in the sense that the sex scenes were somewhat glossed over, but maybe that’s because it’s the first book in the series? I’m an all or nothing girl. Either be a slow burn or a smut book, don’t do half sex scenes.

I like that Arokh is possessive and his internal struggles wasn’t so bad. He really did think Angie was a princess and he wasn’t allowed to touch her. I’m always a fan of the Hero chasing after the Heroine.

I will be continuing with the series.

DNF - quit at 30%
I don’t know what all the good reviews were about, I must have been reading a different book than everyone else. I felt the writing was immature, I found it hard to fathom the heroine’s behavior, it just seemed illogical for an abducted human woman who was abused & nearly raped, to act so snarky & unaffected by the trauma. The world building is lacking & the characters are flat. There’s no explanations for anything going on even with the POV changing back & forth. I didn’t want to waste any more time on this.

At my age, life is to short & my time to important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.

I found this book by stalking a friend of mine's page on GR and oh boy did she ever find a treasure. I have a love for possessive alpha male books... This book was "Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner", all the way. I had a great time falling into this story about aliens stealing humans, and then here comes this great alpha alien to the rescue, and rescued her from some very bad aliens and then he's very gallant, caring, and treats her just like a "Princess". Oh boy, the storyline was well written even down to the alien language. Amanda Milo has done an outstanding job of telling this story and I can wait to read the 2nd installment of this series...

Mí humilde opinión:

Arokh es un gladiador Rakhii, los suyos protegen a las hembras, así que cuando escucha el grito desgarrador de una no duda en ir al rescate.

Pero se horroriza al ver que tres compradores intentan abusar de su compra; una hembra que es... una gryfala, una princesa en su planeta. Una especie rara, hermosa y codiciada.

Arokh nunca esperó ir a la subasta y encontrarse con una princesa, su misión era otra. Pero ahora tiene una gryfala y debe protegerla, es lo que se espera de todo rakhii y llevarla a su hogar.

Pero cuanto más tiempo pasa con ella más apegado se vuelve, al punto de que está en riesgo de unirse a ella. Sabe que al final va a sufrir pero es un precio que está dispuesto a pagar.

Angie es una humana secuestrada de la tierra y vendida en una subasta por alienígenas.

Cuando toda esperanza está perdida, un enorme alienígena con cuernos la rescata y la protege.

No puede evitarlo, Arokh se convierte en su lugar seguro. Y él piensa que es una princesa lo que los llevará a pasar por grandes peligros mientras la lleva a su supuesta casa con las demás gryfalas.



Me gustó mucho el libro, quiero decir WOOOW a falta de más palabras.

Stolen by an alien fue toda una aventura de ciencia ficción romántica con mucha acción y alienígenas sexy de todas las formas y colores.

Arokh el extraterrestre rakhii no podía ser más dulce de leche, o sea, era temible, enorme, con cuernos pero cuando protegía a Angie se convertía en un amor de hombre. Me encantó él demasiado.

Angie me hizo reír muchas veces pero otras me pareció muy inmadura o tonta.

Me gustaron las otras razas de extraterrestres y todos a "modo" protección con las humanas.

Los rekhii, los hobs, las gryfalas también etc los personajes me llamaron mucho todos en este libro y me gustaron.

Y hay más humanas que fueron sacadas de la subasta así que espero saber sus historias pronto.

A mí el libro me resultó una lectura interesante, disfruté cada capítulo y a mí me sorprendió muchas veces para bien obvio y tenía acción. Así que un plus para mí.

Mí "pero" es que en algunas partes me hubiera gustado que la autora trabajara más porque hubo cosas que me pareció les faltó descripción o explicación, mucho me quedo un poco confuso.

Pero más allá de eso me enganchó el libro y ya quiero seguir con el próximo!

I must admit, I was a bit judgmental before checking this book out. I found the book title and cover to be a bit lame and generic. I was pleasantly surprised with this book though!!! I read a lot of alien sci-fi romance and this one had all of the elements for greatness. The plot was action packed and fast paced. It didn't have an insta-love feel to it and the relationship between the hero and heroine felt genuine and developed. I adored all of the characters. Even the secondary characters were well executed. I look forward to checking out more of this writers work!

This has to be the cutest book I read this year!
I remember reading a comment or something that said the H here is very much like Ehd from Transcendence. Well here's the thing, That's it. That was all I read. Like blinders, didn't hear nothing, didn't see nothing, I never even read the blurb, I just got it.

That's all it takes. Just the mention of Ehd. *sigh*
Arokh was very much like Ehd only like a fully functional version. <-----This isn't exactly right cause Ehd was freakin awesome but whatever was wrong with Ehd's cranium was not something Arokh suffered with too, that's all I'm trying to say.

I swear to you, if only he was a little more alpha, I'd be all over him, granted I'm pretty much all over him right now but I can't really explain what I mean without getting really creeped out looks and possibly being unfriended cause it's just that creepy, stalkery, obsessively weird, which shouldn't really be possible since we're all readers here and all have the same tendencies especially since I was very careful and selective to choose the kind of friends that would honestly end up planning and executing the kidnapping right along side of me than reporting it to the police like other "normal" people are bound to do.

*shrugs* What can I say, I don't get out much. ;)

There were times where Angie bugged me like minor tstl moments and some inconsistencies with her behaviour keeping her "past" in mind but it was pretty minor, she didn't have any stupid hang ups. I was pretty happy to see she had her emotions all sorted out though yes she took a minute but come on that was totally realistic.

I am really interested in reading Zadeon's book, my only concern is I hear it needs some serious editing. I don't know about you but badly edited books really put me off. BUT I loved these guys so much I'm throwing caution to the wind and getting the next book too! xD
