Little Miss Busy is always on the go, from the moment she wakes up until she falls asleep at night. Nothing can slow her down--until she gets sick! Suddenly, Little Miss Busy needs to learn how to rest, which turns out to be the hardest thing of all.
Rediscover the zaniest characters you've ever met in this best-selling series which has sold millions of copies worldwide. Bright and charming, with easily recognizable characters and a small take-along format, the Mr. Men Little Miss stories are easy enough for young readers, witty enough for humor-prone adults, and highly collectible for one and all.
Roger Hargreaves was a British cartoonist, illustrator and writer of children's books. He created the Mr. Men series, Little Miss series and Timbuctoo series, intended for young readers. The simple and humorous stories, with bold, brightly coloured illustrations, have sales of more than 85 million copies worldwide in 20 languages.
The nephew and I had so much fun reading this book together. We got the giggles and we both laughed riotously through the story. We start off with the look of Miss Busy. I love her, she is a big head and nose with glasses and hair in a tight bun. She has a lovely smile on her face. I love the way she looks, but it tickled the nephew and he got giggling, which is infectious and I got giggling.
Miss Busy loved to work and clean house from 3am till midnight. Horrible, a person needs more sleep than that. Anyway, she gets sick, of course she does. She hates not being busy. (She has some internal Kidney Fire, anyway). Dr. Make-you-well tells her she needs lots and lots of rest. We see a picture of her falling back on her bed and to show she is falling, Roger put two puffs of air flying out from under her. It looks like she is farting. My nephew saw that picture and he started laughing his head off and I was right there with him.
Mr. Strong, Mr. Greedy, and Mr. Nonsense come see her and each person tells her to rest and she falls back on the bed again looking like she is farting. My nephew died. We howled with laughter. Both his sister and his parents had to come in there and check on us. As soon as we finished, the nephew had to read it again to everyone and he laughed all over again and we were all rolling around. The nephew kept the book to read on his own again and you could hear him laughing at times during the day at the book. He got a real kick out of this one.
Needless to say, the nephew gave this 5 stars. I did too, but not for the same reason. I thought it was a better Little Miss story than others and I like Miss Busy. Nephew’s funny bone was contagious. I don’t know if was really that funny, but it was in the moment. The nephew said Miss Busy was busy farting, that's why she got her name. He got so tickled.
Ah, Mr Men and Little Miss, how wonderful you are!
These books made up so much of my childhood. No matter what I would go ahead and pick one up. I worked my way through them all a couple of times. Each one has a wonderful story for the child to engage with, each character being fun to read.
Everyone has a bias for their favourite character, yet every book is delightful.
this had no right to be as funny as it was. she spends her week sick in bed planning the minute details of an international trip just to keep herself busy. she's just like me fr
Roger Hargreaves is well known for his Mr Men series and then many years ago he wrote an accompanying series, Little Miss, which has also proven to be popular over the years. As with all of the books in this series Little Miss Busy is easy to read, has great pictures and is fun to partake of. In Little Miss Busy we’re introduced to a person who is happiest when she is constantly busy. However, Little Miss Busy finds herself unwell and restricted to lots of bed rest. Some of her friends come to see her but none of them would allow her to do anything but rest.
This book helps to teach us that whilst it’s good to be busy we must balance this with periods of rest so as to care for ourselves as best as possible.
Everybody knows someone who is always busy, and can't imagine being anything else. You are probably that person yourself, or you used to be at some point. It's good to keep doing things - good things - and do them well. It's good to have purpose, to know what's what.
But remember to take a holiday once in a while! And resting from sickness is not the end of the world. Let others help you out. It's okay.
'Little Miss Busy' is a relatable Little Miss. Exaggerated, of course, but relatable. She is always on! She must do things and keep things in order, without a break, even when she is ill. She is happiest when she is organizing and getting on with practical matters!
I absolutely loved these Mr Men and Little Miss books. I remember getting them from my granny every week. There was so much from these simple characters, I remember filling my little bookshelf with all these books making sure I had got them all in right order. I wish I still had these books but somehow most of them got lost with many house moves or my mum gave the rest away. If I ever have kids, I will make sure they get the chance to experience these wonderful, colourful books.
I don’t know that I am properly evaluating this book, given that I read it immediately after the horrendous book mentioned above. That book left a sour taste in my mouth. It made me instantly dislike some elements of this book. It felt that this book had no cohesive moral or plot. The main character wants to always be busy and is upset when she falls ill. She wants to keep doing, even when she has visitors. The book goes on like this and just seems to meander around being anything that you would expect about being busy and learning to relax. While the last page makes note of this, it just isn’t presented well through the story. This, however, isn’t a horrible story. I can see a child enjoying it and this is why it does not get the same rating as the above book. This would probably be a book I would recommend near the middle of the pact of books, if you were reading all of them. It seems like it would be enjoyable, but not one that would need to immediately be read.
As someone who always likes to keep busy, I quite liked this book. Especially since I have just had surgery and am trying to learn to do nothing whilst I heal. Hence why I’m going back through and reading all these little books again.
it was 100%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This one is way ahead of its time, as we who think the things we do are so important and run around like chooks with their heads chopped off, doing much and achieving little, need to stop, take stock and rest for a while. Hargreaves the prophet! Little Miss #19
I looooveee.... this book! I don't want to say that i am busy, but i do feel like 24 hours is never enough to do the things i have. When reading this book, i am reminded to slow down and like Little Miss Busy, to learn how to relax!
