I'm conflicted. On the one hand, I thought this was a fun and charming read. On the other hand... I feel this series has dragged on WAY too long.

The series began 7 books ago with The Frog Princess, which I loved. Books 1-4 chronicled the adventures of Princess Emma, her Prince Eadric, and other creature she met on the way as they overcome magical problems in the kingdom of Greater Greensward. The author then released what I will refer to as book 5, although chronically it comes before the first 4: The Salamander Spell. This prequel tells the story of Emma's Aunt Grassina when she was a little girl. Next came books 6-8, of which A Prince Among Frogs is book 8. This spin off series takes place about 20 years after The Frog Princess and had Princess Millie, the daughter of Princess Emma, as it's main character. All I can say is, I really hope this is the last book in the series, because I feel this book was one to many.

My biggest problem with this book was that I felt everything had already been wrapped up at the end of the previous book. This book saw the return of a villain from an earlier book, who decided to kidnap Millie's little brother Felix as revenge for what had been done to him. As I read this book, I felt I had already read it. The plot was repetitive, as it had already been done in the earlier books.

But despite this, A Prince Among Frogs was charming. I loved the magic, the fun, and the adventure. I liked Millie, but I especially liked Audun, a dragon who, in the previous book, fell in love with Millie, changed into a human, and undertook a quest in order to be with Millie. His character feels realistic and he refuses to be overshadowed by Millie. He has the perfect balance of human and dragon characteristics.

This series never lost it's charm. Even though I felt this book was unnecessary, it put a smile on my face. I plan on reading any other books this author writes... unless they're a continuation of this series, because this series needs to end. But I still enjoyed it from start to finish.

Can I just say that this book really ticked me off and Milly is an annoying brat and everyone else is kind of idiotic? I really enjoyed the rest of this series but this book just got under my skin.

Though this book was a lot of fun, I felt it really only deserved 1 or 2 stars because of the errors, which bothered my children as much as they did me. For the previous 7 books, Grassina has been Chartreuse's sister, but then chartreuse speaks about grassina as being her daughter in this book. Francis refers to his aunt and uncle as grandmother and grandfather. Song of the glacier at the end of the book says that no one has ever called her just Song before, even though it happened many times in the previous book. There were others as well, which wouldn't make sense without giving further explanations of the books. These felt like interruptions in the story and made it more difficult to enjoy. I realize an author can make such mistakes, especially if she is writing more than one series and has many characters to keep track of. However, an editor should still be able to notice most of these mistakes. Besides that, the story felt rather random. Though it's imaginary with things such as dragons and witches and fairies, the events were so random and sudden and just didn't seem to fit with what we'd previously learned about the characters.

If this one had not been the last in the series I would not have continued with it. The set-up was bad, the characters acted like total morons through the whole book. The baby prince is kidnapped. Through the entire series it has been pointed out that dragons are able to find things with magic, and Millie has done so on more than one occasion, but when it comes to finding her own flesh-and-blood-baby-brother the thought does not even cross anyone's mind? Or her parents? She keeps having to go the long way around. And if she can find some crazy witch she barely knows, she can find Felix. But this tidbit of information is conveniently just omitted. And Millie is even more annoying than normal; she and Audun are frustrating together. And no one even thinks about what the larger purpose behind the bad guy's purposes are until they come smack dab onto it? Really? I'm glad there are no more. This series started fun, but it deteriorated quickly. The dialogue is never good throughout any of it, but this one seemed over the top and added to my frustration.

This book was so good! I can't believe this is the last book in my favorite series. I've been reading this series since middle school and I'm so sad that this series is over. This was an amazing end to the series. Can she please write another spin-off series based on Millie's kids. I'm gonna cry, at least I can always reread the books. This is one of my fav series of all time :)

A weak and rather pathetic concluding book in The Tales of the Frog Princess book series. In this story, Emma has given birth to an infant son, Felix, despite the fact her only other child (Millie) is in her mid-teens and preparing to get married to her boyfriend of brief acquaintance, Audun (a major issue I have with this entire book series is that it focuses on brief courtships and very young [early to mid-teen] marriages - a forced reality of life during the middle ages but the worst possible choice for adolescents in the 21st century). A series of magical calamities and crises all break out simultaneously, so, once again, the kids are abandoned by their parents, leaving Millie, Audun, and Francis to manage the catastrophes of two kingdoms, whether they are prepared to take on such roles or not.

None of the teens has much magical knowledge or skill, yet the adults dump an enormous load of major responsibilities on their shoulders (particularly Millie's, which is nearly always the case within most families), while they are gone, including overseeing the care of her infant brother (who is not her child, yet she is so frequently forced to care for him that she views herself as his third parent), coping with all of the complaints/problems/demands of every fairy, witch, ghost, and magical monster in two kingdoms, all while Millie and Audun are in the midst of planning their wedding - a process they have received no help or assistance with by any of the meddlesome/nosy/otherwise occupied older members of their families. The trust and intimacy between Millie and Audun grows, as the two are forced to take on one major stressor, after another, by working as a team, especially after Felix is kidnapped by an old wizard and turned into a frog, while Emma, Eadric, Grassina, and Haywood all go missing while supposedly out dealing with a sea monster that neither of the two current/previous Green Witches ever bothered to effectively deal with at much earlier points in time.

Despite the endless chain of calamities and problems they are forced to deal with, there is remarkably very little tension between Audun and Millie over the constant chaos/strain they cannot escape, as the kingdoms are plunged into ever-worsening threats. This is so incredibly unrealistic, it's pure treacle! Engaged couples don't usually go through a quarter of the strain that Millie and Audun do, yet the lack of regular sleep, meals, hygiene, and other basic necessities will, inevitably, bring out increasing levels of irritability, frustration, and discord, even amongst the best suited couples. However, the author doesn't allow us to see this kind of friction between Emma and Eadric or Grassina and Haywood, and very rarely is such tension demonstrated between the newest "couple", Millie and Audun.

I do believe that it's very helpful what Audun says about the difference between dragons and humans having to do with not anticipating failures or major catastrophes, in advance, but rather focusing on doing one's best at the time and making adjustments later, only if it becomes clear they are required. So many of us fret away entire years of our lives worrying about situations that never actually occur, then we lack the energy and mental resources often necessary for the completely unpreventable/unanticipated realities that actually do occur, in our lives. At this point in my life, I'm old enough to see the wisdom in this approach as there has been so very little about my life that has turned out at all how I expected it would. If I had all the time, energy, and money refunded for all that I wasted worrying about potential situations (both positive and negative) that I worried about unnecessarily, I'd be quite a wealthy person, on many levels.

This book only earned 3 stars from me because it was so intensely unrealistic, especially in regard to the endless calamities/chaos that occurred (which only the teens could manage [despite their limited magic skills and the older adults much greater magic skills and expertise consistently being found useless/worthless], along with the pathetically poor wedding planning). There was far too many unbelievable situations, relationships, ans flagrant plot holes, that this was a poor example of this writer's abilities. It was a tragic ending to a series that started out strong then grew increasingly more uneven and contrived, over time.

Princess Millie and her soon-to-be husband, Audun, are buried up to their necks in wedding day preparations. Trying to make everything perfect for their (hopefully) perfect day. Unfortunately for them, life has a way of interfering. And it seems that their only hope of living happily ever after depends on them.

A Prince Among Frogs is a delightful novel filled with magic and wonder. Prior to reading this novel, I was unaware that this is a series of novels all centered around the Frog Princess, with A Prince Among Frogs being the finale novel. Now, I must admit that I have not read E.D. Baker's previous novels in this series. And while some may be put off by reading the last novel first, I must admit that I was not. Baker does a beautiful job of refreshing the story thus far and never making me feel as if I was missing the "big" picture.

Baker's writing along with her characters make this a novel perfect for readers of all ages. The characters have complex personalities and are just so much fun to read about. So much so that I now feel as if I must go read the whole series just to get to know everyone better.

A Prince Among Frogs is one of those rare novels that transports you into another world. Filled with romance and adventure, this is a novel that both will please a wide variety of readers. And one that will be very hard to let go of. A Prince Among Frogs was truly a pleasure to read and a novel that I look forward to going back to again and again.

A Prince Among Frogs was okay but I didn't really like it. It wasn't really exciting or anything. Just like a shadow of when Emma and Eadric went to get Eadric's parents blessing to get married and Bradstone got kidnapped. Someone getting kidnapped already happened you know! Repetition isn't always tactful and can lead to a bit of a boring story. Still it wasn't THAT bad. Just not super good. Typical prince turned into frog problem as the first book in the series. Again, repetition isn't always a good thing. It can lead to a boring tale. Some of it wasn't that bad but still, kinda bland and dull. This book wasn't much of a big end to the series but the last sentence wasn't half bad. 'Who would have thought that a human and a dragon could make a perfect match?' That wasn't exactly that questionable cause in other books there have been cross species relationships so a human and a dragon wasn't that strange but still, sentimental and emotional. Not half bad.

Ahoy there mateys! I found this middle grade series because of Katherine Kellgren who is my favorite audiobook narrator ever. I was also excited because I love Frog Princess retellings. This series has nine books which follow Emma, the frog princess, and other members of her family. Emma kisses the frog and turns into a frog herself!

I absolutely loved books 1 to 5, thought books 6 to 8 were just okay, and really enjoyed book 9. I love Emma who is not your typical princess. I love her quirky family. There are lots of fun side characters like fairies, snakes, ghosts, crabs, dragons, mermaids, trolls, etc. These are romances in that the princesses find their true loves but with twists. For example, one prince is a frog, one is an otter, and one is a dragon. There is another couple that is a typical bat and an vampire. The books are sweet and a lot of fun. I don't own the whole series but I could see myself listening to these again in the future. Arrr!

I really enjoyed this story! I loved getting to see everything come together in this one and having Millie and Aldoon back together again. We get to see them as they are engaged and planning their wedding and learning on how to work together and be good partners as they solve problems. Someone is out to get Greater Greensward but that isn't completely evident early on. There are multiple things that keep popping up that they are figuring out how to deal with and being pulled in different directions and then when her Aunt, Uncle, Mom and Dad are all gone her baby brother is taken. As they work to track him down and figure out that he has been turned into a frog and let loose in a group of ponds by Olibald wizard they end up on a quest to save her parents and aunt and uncle as they realize they are in peril as well and need their help to find and save her baby brother. On the quest to do so they run into old enemies and friends throughout the entire series, both parents and for Millie and Aldoon. I loved getting to see things come full circle and see old and new characters throughout. This was a fun and entertaining read. I really enjoyed this book and the entire series.
The narrator did a great job with the characters and bringing the story to life.

Although I'd read all 7 of the previous books in this series before, this was my first time through book 8. It was adorable. The whimsy of the rest of the series was definitely present in this book. There were lots of cute couple-y moments, magic used in new and inventive ways, and lots of winks at previous books in the series.

The plot was fun. There was great character development for both Millie and Audun. And the main conflict was perfect for a final outing for this series.

I'm so glad I finally got around to reading this one. It definitely matched up to the previous books in the series, while adding to the lore, the characters, and the world. A+.

I loved finally being able to read about a wedding! Took several books but we got there. This was a wonderful conclusion to a charming series. I have enjoyed it every time I have read them. Millie and Audun are not my favorite couple but I enjoyed watching them work together in this story. My favorite part was actually seeing Queen Chartreuse being so helpful and loving towards her family!

It wasn't it. There were several inconsistencies which were jarring enough to send me out of the book and Millie was just not as great of a character - no where near as strong as Emma and trying to force Auden and Millie to now be argumentative (as Eadri/Emma and early Grassina/Haywood were) was not a good call.

Interesting end to the Millie storyline, but it's more about tying threads from past books together than presenting a very original story. Not much of a children's/YA feel either since much of the story is Millie and Audun searching for Millie's mother to solve the problems.

I honestly did not see anything new here that really adds to the series. This was supposed to be the finale of the series but it certainly would have been a weak finale. It seems like the story and characters keep getting dumbed down more and more. I know that I am not the target audience for these books but the earlier ones seemed so much better and I actually still enjoyed them. This one was really just a mess of so many things happening at the same time. The wedding is talked about at the beginning, but is really forgotten about until the end, and then everything seems rushed. There were really no new important characters introduced, probably because it was supposed to be the end of the series, but really it was sort of boring and not that funny. I feel like it was just recycling the basic plot idea from when Bradston was kidnapped by the trolls. It just didn’t really add anything new to the series in my opinion. I feel like I haven’t liked the books about Millie as much as the ones about Emma, even though my ratings say otherwise, and truthfully I wish the author had stuck to following Emma and not rushed her marriage to Eadric and then switch to stories about their daughter. I didn’t enjoy this book that much, although it could be because of the mood I am in or because I was rushing to finish it so that I could move on to what I really wanted to read.

I feel like younger children could probably enjoy this, but older kids and adults probably wouldn’t because it’s just the same thing we’ve seen in the previous books. The storytelling also seems to be very surface level and not as deep as the other books.

I disliked the fact that we didn't get to see much of the older characters because they all left or weren't around, so it basically just turned into Millie and Audun, and I wish we could have seen more of the older characters.

With their wedding just around the corner, Millie and Audun have their hands full getting the castle ready for a celebration filled with dragons, humans, and people on both sides who don't like each other.

When Millie's mother, father, great-aunt, and great-uncle all get called away on magical business, Millie, Audun, and her cousin, Francis, are left to take care of the kingdom and whatever other business comes up. When her little brother, Felix, is kidnapped while she's away taking care of other matters, Millie must find the power within herself to save her brother.

The problem, however, is that she has no witch magic to speak of, her parents have gone missing from their original destination, and Olebald the wizard is bent on getting his revenge against her family and their kingdom. Can Millie save the day?

A must-read for anyone who likes fantasy and has read the other books in THE TALES OF THE FROG PRINCESS series. The characters are well-developed and true to their natures. The story is filled with lots of adventure, action, and high stakes. The plot is gripping and holds the reader's interest.

Those who like fantasy, magic, action, and adventure will all enjoy reading A PRINCE AMONG FROGS.

The Prince among frogs

This book has great cultural information in the story. It is based off wizards, dragons, trolls and other mythical creatures. This shows how some cultures tell stories and some background information of what they believed. The adventures and troubles the characters go through to get to their destination shows great motivation and could help people believe in themselves. This book would be great to put on a computer because it will help the humans have a great laugh after reading all the really informative books. The setting is around the time with kings and queens in every town. They are all fighting for more land and building their army to attack. The book will give good information about what castles looked like and what the outfits they wore looked like. Overall this book would absolutely need to be on the computer to help humans belive in things other then a boring old life without creativity. The scientific value will help people do more studies to show and explain other creatures and where they came about and even can help explain names of objects.
