This entire thing started because of a faulty tree.
Becoming a homeowner is not all it's cracked up to be, let me tell you that right now. Especially in the dead of winter, when apparently trees can just fall in the middle of a suburban neighborhood.
Did my next-door neighbor help me remove said tree? No, he did not…
So, really…he left me no choice.
I broke into his house.
While I only intended to steal a little warmth and maybe a cup of coffee, I fell victim to his jacuzzi tub.
But he returned early and that’s really when things went south.
Instead of a cold glare or icy reply, all of which I fully expected from my disagreeable neighbor.
Ashley resides in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and four children. She enjoys hiking, sneaking off to read, and of course, drinking copious amounts of coffee when she finally sits down to write.
I love this world Ashley has built and I love the characters so much. They're full of richness and personality, and I love how real she makes them. (The villains of this story made me want to chuck my kindle against the wall, by the way.)
Can I move to Macon, please??? But only if it comes with a delicious, dirty-talking man, obvs.
Grab this swoony, hilarious, small town enemies-to-lovers when it releases!
When a chick lit marries a hp this is the result. The hp vibes are: - hero who falls for the heroine, love at first sight. - hero with a traumatic childhood - hero who acts like a jerk because he loves the heroine but he can’t have her - hero who has a hidden agenda - heroine who has a crush on the hero - hero who fails to put the heroine first, then makes a grand gesture to apologize. The chick lit vibes are: - heroine has a bff that shares everything with her. They help each other, always. - heroine that is not a doormat and dumps the hero when he disappoints her. So, the plot is kind of not original but it was good. The hero has an insta lust bar love for the heroine when he first meets her, but she’s his boss daughter and the boss forbids him from dating her. So he becomes a jerk to keep her distant. For one year he secretly pines for her, while she tries to avoid him because he’s nasty. Then his boss asks him to look after her since he and his wife are leaving and they will leave their company to him provided he won’t be romantically involved with her. Of course they get involved. The hero has a nasty dad and a hoe stepmother that could really use a beating, and to avoid that his dad buys his company just to spite him and becomes his boss, he signs a contract where he won’t be romantically involved with the heroine. When the heroine finds out, she leave him and she leaves town. The heroine finds didn’t want to give her up, he planned to find a loophole in the contact so he could have the company and the heroine, but the heroine won’t have his excuses. So he dumps the company and pines for her until she comes back. What I didn’t like. The hero is anyway a prejudiced and conceited azz, he believes her father when he says that the heroine is unable to fend for herself while she’s completely independent and has even bought her own house. He’s really nasty and it wasn’t necessary even if he wanted to keep her at a distance. He’s really rude. But we know he is only dong this because he can’t resist her if she’s near. He also acts like a complete jerk when he signs the contact even if I can see the trauma he had with his father. In the end the heroine won’t completely forgive her father, who was controlling and borderline abusive, and will forgive the hero after some weeks where he will pine, drink and pine again. What I liked. Very angsty in some parts, because the heroine is not a complete doormat and eventually is ready to leave forever the hero and the town. The hero has been celibate since he met the heroine. This author is one of the best in this matter. She’s not one of those who write heroes who pretend to be in love with the heroine while having sex with everything that moves. So, no double standards here. He’s instantly attracted to her and since then, even if he doesn’t think he can have her, he’s celibate. This shows he cares more than everything else. I don’t know why authors can’t understand that if a man says it’s always been you and he has sex with other women his actions nullify his words. If you say it’s only you, that only means there are no other people. Easy, but apparently authors can’t get it through their head. So, three celibate and committed stars and very entertaining reading for me.
Bad, the writing was alright (i cant say much about the spice scenes as I skipped them bc i hated the ml too much to see him have fun and be happy)
Everyone in this book was the absolute worst to Nora (the fl) EVEN HERSELF. Honestly every single chapter was worse and worse. The ending fix some small things up but too many plot whole to be considered good, also too inconsistent, you’re telling me all these characters have acted a certain was all throughout the book and somehow change attitudes towards the end? I don’t buy it.
It made me sad to read about such a weak fl, and I don’t mean in the way most of the book presented her as (and was the main “plot point) like that she couldn’t take care of herself and she was useless, no i don’t mean it like that because thats just life and you learn by experience and her past forced her to be that way, i meant it in a emotional way.
Girly folded immediately for this man that treated her like trash, not even i treat the mosquitoes in my room that badly.
You can’t convince me this man doesn’t hate her and only lusts because bro was so mean and fickle.
He made fun of her for not knowing things and relying on other while forcing her to receive his help after following her around then giving her the cold shoulder then forcing her to receive more help, acting out romantically or doing something relationship-y with her and the kicking her out or giving her the cold shoulder again.
And repeat.
This was him the entire book, and this doesn’t even include him doing most things with and ulterior motive and lying/hiding stuff from her for MONTHS.
Also i wrote in my review for the first book (the one for her bestie) that i hoped the best friend would be good for her like the fl was for her in her book. Well NO
The best friend was à horrible friend, i wont go into detail but it frustrated me so much, the fl definitely didn’t have anyone on her side because those type of friends will always prioritise their boyfriends and somehow their boyfriends.
So if its not clear yet, i hated this. I felt bad for the fl and the stepsister of the ml but for the fl, she accepted most of the mistreatment with open arms, i get its her being used to it and trauma but this is fiction and it would’ve been nice to see the author making her visit a therapist or for her to actually work on herself (not those empty filler scenes they told us she did do so) and be away from these awful people.
I have a feeling this series is just made up of miscommunication and crappy family members with a romance mixed in there. 🙃 I did like Nora and Colson a lot but both of their parents were way too meddlesome and frustrating. I liked seeing Rae and Davis and of course the setting. Spice was top notch too. Just wish the main characters would 👏🏻 just 👏🏻 talk!! I’ll finish the series once the final books out in audio. But I’m more excited for this authors newer stuff.
After getting a small tease of what was to come for Nora and Colson in Resisting the Grump I couldn’t wait for their story.
I honestly didn’t expect for the emotions I felt while reading certain aspects of Nora and Colson’s life. They most certainly tugged at my heartstrings more than once.
It was obvious at the attraction Nora and Colson had for each other. In the beginning though they tried to deny it, but it was inevitable. Little by little they got to know each other and it only made it clear that they couldn’t fight what they felt. I loved the growth both Nora and Colson made throughout the book and how they were both vulnerable and weren’t afraid to show it.
Tempting the Neighbor was another great addition to the Mount Macon series and I can’t wait for next book.
When I started reading ‘Tempting the Neighbor’, it was late at night and I only planned on reading for half an hour. I ended up reading till 2 a.m. I was just hooked to these pages from the moment I started reading and I couldn’t put it down. The story of Colton and Nora completely pulled me in and I just wanted to keep on going.
The two main characters where simple amazing and lovely to get to know. We get to read this book through both Colton and Nora’s point of view and it totally warmed my heart. Nora wanted to prove to everyone that she knew how to take care of herself. So she was buying a fixer upper, and not asking for help even though she probably should have. I loved how stubborn she was, even though she was so in love with Colton right from the start.
And then there was Colton.. I mean wow! Talk about having a major crush on book character and I picture him. He was just a dream. Yes, he seemed to be very rude and unkind at first. But there is so much more to him than we first get to see and I loved getting to know him. His past was so tragic and I cried for the little boy he once was.
The romantic and intimate moments between Colton and Nora where just perfect. And I loved everything about it. This book sure was an epic start to my reading year, and I can’t wait to read book three. And yes, these books are standalones.. but I’d prefer to read them in order.
Colson is just an asshole the whole time, what finally made him break and be with Nora? For real what is her father’s motivation? It makes no sense. Their first intimate scene was so rushed I thought it was a dream sequence, it just came out of nowhere. I had been waiting for this book to come out and was disappointed.

“You’re a ridiculous kind of crazy, baby. But you’re my ridiculous kind of crazy.”
I freaking loved Colson & Nora so much! Their little fights were so freaking cute and when Colson finally made a move, I felt all the butterflies kicking in! The way Cole took care of Nora but still did not make her feel coddled like her father did was nice to see. I agree that Nora was a damsel in distress but she wasn't as incompetent and naive as her father made her out to be. I hated her father for controlling their relationship from the start, he deserved to be cut off tbh. If it weren't for him, Cole wouldn't have had to waste an entire year in pursuing Nora because it was so obvious that he was captivated by her since the moment he first saw her. The chemistry between these two was amazing and I couldn't get enough of their moments together, especially the ones that involved Liam's little girls! They were so freaking cute and because of that, I just can't wait to dive into Liam & Haley's book next! Overall, this was a very emotional and angsty, small town, enemies to lovers, forced proximity romance and I am definitely becoming a fan of this series!
This. Freakin. Book. I was so excited to get this ARC on my kindle. If you follow me, you know that I absolutely LOVED Resisting The Grump! This is the second book in the series and this one did not disappoint. We got glimpses of Colson and Nora in Resisting the Grump and I have been counting down to be able to deep dive into them!
The tension and chemistry these two have is unsurmountable. I enjoyed every freakin second of their banter, the back and forth....and when they explode? Just have a cold shower and a fan ready because it gets HOT. The mouth on this man!
I cannot wait for the 3rd book in this series and I'm going to slightly harass Ashley from here on out! But in the interim, I'll just think back on this book and what a gem it is! Free on KU. Worth the book trophy!
If you’re looking for something to warm you up this winter trust me this is the book for you. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Even without the steam factor Tempting the Neighbor is the perfect book. I loved the banter and tension between Nora and Colson. And I’ll admit I even teared up a little bit learning about Colson’s past.
Make sure you read this book when it comes out January 13, 2023
Thanks to Ashley Munoz for a copy of Tempting the Neighbor in exchange of an honest review.
This small town romance had me swooning! Nora had a very protective and controlling dad.... and Colson works for him. So Nora is off limits. And also his neighbor. But her dad wants Colson to be there for her and help her out when she needs it, and he thinks she is helpless so she should need it a lot.... but expects him to NOT fall for her. TOO LATE! Their story is a fun but emotion read. Colson has some unresolved issues with his mother and father. I wont get into the details, you will need to read it yourself to find out... but I will say that it totally tugged my heat strings!
DNF at 50%. I kept wanting to give this author another try, but I’m coming to realize she just doesn’t create my type of storyline. Easy to read book, but the lack of communication and dumb decisions just got to be too much. What pushed me over the edge was the men all thinking they knew what was best for Nora. It just went too far past annoying to frustrating and not worth my time unfortunately.
I loved Tempting the Neighbor and getting to revisit Mount Macon and all the characters. Nora is trying to be independent and prove she can do things in her own, but her parents and past relationship make that difficult. Then add in her neighbor, Colson, who all of a sudden is trying to helpful and Nora is over it. She just wants to continue with their hate relationship and all the jabs they throw at each other or avoid each other as well, but he is making that hard for her. Colson decides he is going to watch out for her, but it’s not so simple. These two constantly push each other’s buttons, then add in the growing attraction and the lines start to get harder and harder to ignore. What happens though when Colson continues to reel Nora in only to push her away, will she keep giving in or finally had enough? Find out if Nora and Colson take a chance or will their pasts and current goals get in the way of something that could be great? This book was addicting, steamy, and the banter will have you devouring this book and left wanting more!
Nora has had feelings for her neighbor, who is Undeniably hot, but he has been nothing short of rude and surly.
Colson has been very attracted to Nora but he has reluctantly back.
A tree fell in Nora's yard it's almost a curse but could also be a blessing.
Nora and Colson's book...... I was super excited for this book, and It was everything and more.
Colson has a filthy mouth, I freaking loved it. Nora isn't at all what she is made out to be, and watching her grow was almost like putting her middle finger to the world. Good for her.
Absolutely loved this book. The progression of the story was an emotional one but beautiful as well.
What a phenomenal book! This book was jammed packed with all the things love! Enemies to lovers ✅ All the angst ✅ Just the right amount of steam ✅ Moments when it tore my heart right open ✅ Funny ✅ Amazing, relatable characters ✅ Make you want to disappear and get lost in the story ✅ I loved watching Nora and Colson’s love story develop and grow! Be prepared to have a big book hangover when you are done!
This book is surprisingly steamy I loved the banter and the characters. I love Nora wanting to be independent and trying to prove herself to everyone. This book is enemies to lovers 🥰 and Small town
Why did it take me this long to finally read this book????
The angst in this book was heavy! But I loved every second!

Have you ever broken into your neighbors house who can't stand you and taken a bath in his gorgeous tub without asking? No? Ha. Me either! But Nora has. And to make matters worse, as she's relaxing, guess who walks in on her? The grumpy homeowner!
Colson takes every opportunity he can to either get under Nora's skin or put her in her place. He's rude and dismissive. But when her father tasks him with keeping an eye on her and watching out for her. It goes against everything he's done to push her away and keep his distance from her.
So when he starts looking out for her and helping her, Nora second guesses him constantly! Not only is he the last person she wants help from, considering he's been rude and insensitive every interaction they've had. Nora is also determined to prove she can handle things on her own. Especially after a nasty break up with her ex-boyfriend, who kindly pointed out how she couldn't do things on her own and how she needed someone to always take care of her. That breakup left her feeling very defeated and unsure of herself.
Colson also his reasons for keeping his distancing from Nora, and it's not because he doesn't like her!

Things I loved:
Colson's letters to his mother!!! 😭😭 In the beginning, you only saw his very hard grumpy exterior, but every letter gave us a glimpse of his softer side.
Nora's freaken determination. I honestly loved how stubborn she was!
Nora and Rae's friendship. I love how much Rae was in this book! I didn't read the other book yet, I jumped in the series to read this book. But I plan to go back and read Rae and Davie's book! It was the perfect inspiration I needed!
Haley!!! And I can't wait to read the next book! She was so adorable, and I'm so glad Colson fixed his relationship with her!
Colson's attachment to his mother's garden.
I really loved this book! I didn't honestly think I would just based off the trope, but it was so perfect. Colson was so complex and this wasn't your normal "neighbors to lovers" book!!
I absolutely loved Nora and Colson’s whirlwind love story.
Nora is such a feisty young woman that is determined to do things herself because nobody seems to have any faith in her ability to look after herself. That includes her grumpy (but super sexy) next door neighbour.
Nora and Colson have such an intense love/hate relationship. They’re constantly throwing barbs at each other but beneath those little jabs you could feel their underlying sexual attraction to each other. Their magnetism was so strong that you could feel them continually moving closer every time they were together. Their chemistry was palpable and toe curling intense. At times the sexual tension was so thick it was oozing off the pages. I couldn’t wait for either of them to finally give into their desires. It was going to be explosive!
Such a fantastic story with so many amazing characters (and some that will make you so mad you just want to pull your hair out in frustration) and with a storyline that is emotional, drama filled, suspenseful, entertaining, and passionate. And let’s not forget some that there were also some insanely steamy and highly erotic moments that had my panties combusting! HOT!
I laughed, I cried and I fell hopelessly in love with Nora and Colson.
wow, what a fabulous book by Ashley, I think for me her best so far. It just seem to resonate with me and I wish I could go back and start it all over again for the first time.
I especially loved the letters Coulson wrote to his mum, whom he had lost whilst he was younger, by the time you get to the end of the book, they just seem to all fall into place, you understand this man more and it so was essential to this couple.
I could not finish my review without mentioning Coulson and his M.C I loved how Nora was lucky enough to be the one who was the recipient of "Dirty talk", it was such good D.T with out being cringy or over the top.
So many emotions for these two, and I really felt for Nora and her desire to be independant from her parents as an only child. To be seen as an adult by her parents and not the only child they had had, and thought that they still needed to raise.
I also love how we are still involved with characters from Resisting the Grump with Rae & Davis and the town's story.
I love a mountain man and I actually have one born and raised, unfortunately he's become so use to the comforts of the city, that at times it is hard to believe he was indeed one. But lucky for me , you can take the boy from the mountain, but there will always be Mountain boy inside who turned into a man with his own MC lol Also i love the Alternative Cover. I'm not sure what it is but there is something about this type of book cover theme that I love. Thank you Ashley for releasing this version. Cant wait to get it myself on PB.
Much like book one I really enjoyed the story. Nora and Colson were a really interesting couple. They kept me on my toes. Like Rae, Nora has some really ick and or immature moments that I just didn’t like. Colson also had those moments. The spice was freaking hot and the chemistry was as off the charts. The plot was very interesting with Colson’s family stuff and his mom. While Nora’s dad had some freaking balls. She was a lot more forgiving with her dad and Colson than I would have been. And the way he treated Haley broke my heart. I really hope he grovels to her in the next book! I’m glad they got their HEA even if I wanted to smack them both a bit.
Read:🎧Hoopla MMC: Colson Hanes FMC: Nora Petrov Spice:3🌶️ Tropes:Small Town, Neighbors, Enemies to Lovers, Forced Proximity, Contractor
This is book two in the Mount Macon series. I do suggest reading book one first if you can. Swipe for synopsis.
Nora and Colson are absolute 🔥 🌲 winter vibes 🌲 hilarious banter 🌲 enemies to lovers 🌲 small town 🌲 spicyyyy 🌲 found family
I did get to beta read this book and I absolutely loved seeing it evolve into the masterpiece that it is. There were moments of tears (happy and sad), laughter, and moments I wanted to throw my kindle across the room (looking at you Peter). I love when a book can truly make you feel all of the feels and Ashley’s writing always does that for me. I cannot recommend this book or series enough.
This book was so good!! Totally had me in all the feels!! I laughed and cried, like ugly cried. Colson and Nora were perfect! They both want to be worthy of love. They want to be someone's everything! The storytelling and character development was so good! Especially Colson! I cried so much with his backstory. All emotions aside, the steam was scorching!! Like, WOW!!!! It starts as a slow burn, but then turns into an inferno! I loved everything about this story! It's one that will gut you, break your heart and then put you back together again. This is definitely one of those stories you will read and re-read over and over!
I’ve been so excited to get my hands on Nora and Colson’s story because in book one the tension between the two was insanely good. Nora may be a little spoiled by her parents, but that hasn’t stopped her from trying to pave her own path and do things for herself even if things can be complicated. Colson knew from day one Nora was something amazing but her father put the stop on that before anything could go anywhere so Colson does everything he can to push her away. The push and pull these two shared was not only entertaining but also led to some extremely hot hot hot scenes that will have you drooling. These characters steal your heart and everything they go through makes your heart hurt for them but pull for them to find their happiness.
Nora and Colson were the best way to ring in 2023. This feuding neighbor situation had me Laughing, frustrated, angry, crying and Hot and bothered . I could NOT put this book down. Ashley touched on real issues in this day and age and did it so well. I will not add spoilers, but it did give a good cry. Nora and Colson are one of my favorite couples of 2022. The secondary characters get you so excited about what is to come . Thanks for another great read Ashley
Okay, so I thought Colson and Nora’s love story was both well written and intriguing!!! Colson works for Nora’s dad, and he’s always been told to stay away from her, which is hard to do since they’re neighbors. But Colson can’t seem to make himself stay away from her, and the more time he spends with her, the harder he falls. I thought Colson was the perfect mix of broody and swoony; he does make mistakes but he also does his best to fix them. Nora was brilliant, sassy, and sweet, and I admired her for the way she stood up for herself when she needed to. 5 freaking stars!
My rating: 4.1 stars out of 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What a wild ride! One thing about this author is that she really understands drama in relationships. I enjoyed Colson and Nora and think they were a perfect continuation from the first book. The perfectly carved thier own path. The spice was DEFINITELY SPICY!!! 4 peppers 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Some parts were a bit cringe but the ending made up for it in my eyes. I’m already eyeing the next book in the series. Good read! 👍🏾
