We ate at Café Beaujolais on our honeymoon (1985) and loved it. Unfortunately, when I became aware of the (original) cookbook, I couldn’t find it anywhere; thank goodness for the reprint.
The only disappointment for me was that about half the recipes are for lunch & dinner. I will admit purchasing this for sentimental reasons, but it’s still a good option for those who love breakfast any time, anywhere.
Margaret Fox ran the famous Cafe Beaujolais in Mendocino for many years, accumulating some pretty amazing and relatively uncomplicated recipes for the "best part of the day" (amen). It's not just pancakes and eggs, though. Cafe B was also open for dinner and Fox has included soups and salads, main dishes and desserts, too. The stories included and the pictures really set this one apart (the pic of a Stinson Beach Blueberry Muffin with a pat of melting butter, next to a steaming mug of coffee is like a mini-vacation to Mendocino for me). Some faves: Morning Glory Muffins- "like carrot cake in muffin form"; Buttermilk-Cinnamon Coffee Cake; Mendocino Frittata. Just looking through this there are so many more I want to make...
