Cute book, great to flip through for inspiration - and not just for cookies! The basic information at the front of the book on techniques, equipment, and recipes is good, but most of the book is dedicated to instructions and pictures for various cookie sets. These instructions, though repetitive, are written in a clear easy-to-read style, and the step-by-step images make what could be confusing perfectly clear. I'm not much of a baker, and certainly not one to make elaborately decorated cookies, but I received a copy of this book to review and plan to keep it around. I can see using the cookie designs as inspiration for other crafts: embroidery, quilting, paper collage, card making, drawing, painting, etc. It's just fun to flip through and admire all the pretty cookies, whether you plan to make them or not.

I do wish there was a little more variety in cookie design though - most sets are either holiday, event, or season themed. Though some designs could be adapted for more everyday use, others are just too specific to use more than once a year. It's also a shame that certain holidays are excluded: Christmas is present, but Hanukkah is not.

The cookie recipes in this book are really good. This book is great for someone with a bit of artistic ability. I really enjoyed making the different flavored cookies and even though mine did not look much like the pictures, I'm still happy. I did win this book through Goodreads. Thank you to the author and Front Table Books for the opportunity to get outside my comfort zone and make some very tasty treats.
