Praotes (Greek), Gentle, mild, meek, to be an in-wrought grace of the soul. Gentleness is not a normal, native plant growing out of the human soul. It is not a natural part of our makeup. It grows as the Holy Spirit nurtures it. Meekness is to be part of your makeup no matter what your temperament might be or has been. To today's modern person, gentleness and meekness are not desirable character qualities. In contrast to that, there is hardly a single characteristic which you can name which will better distinguish the Christian from the rest of the world. But the fruit of the spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control.... - Galations 5:22 23 In these Bible studies from best-selling author Robert Strand, you will learn about yourself and how to relate to others as you gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be in Christ.
Much like the other books of this collection, this book is more of a “companion” study guide for a book that I wish the author would have written. The stories are not directly related to the theme, although they are inspirational and applicable, to a minor extent. The written material could be contained in about 10-20% of the entire book.
A gentle person doesn't force themselves on anyone but they never compromise truth or love either. They don't seek to cause trouble but they don't tolerate making a mockery of God. They move forward and stay present. They hold onto God and let everything else go. They are consistent and people trust their judgment. They're graceful without being dishonest. They have boundaries without being hurtful or dismissive. They consider everyone's needs without being a people pleaser. They don't take insults to heart and have compassion for others.
