Agape (Greek), God's fruit of love which gives itself away with a pure motive and most generously. The golden text of the Bible says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). God loved us into His kingdom. The toughest thing about love is being loving to others. Some people are easy to love, but what about those unlovely people, those enemies? Is it possible to love like God loves? It's impossible for us normal human beings. It can't be done alone. It can only be done in the power of the Spirit and the transformation of the human spirit. But the fruit of the spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control... - Galations 5:22 23 In these Bible studies from best-selling author Robert Strand, you will learn about yourself and how to relate to others as you gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be in Christ.
A good study on love, what it looks like and how we put it into practice in our lives. I did this one in our morning basket and it was good to use the questions for group discussion.
This book was like a small personal bible study on love and at the end of the book I felt an overwhelming desire to go out and love the world as Jesus commanded us to. Although it's a short read (52 pages) it's not a one-day read, there are Bible passages to read on your own, questions to answer about the passages, and life applications to implement. I highly recommend if you are unsure how to love others who you don't have a relationship with or have a bad one with
Much like the other books of this collection, this book is more of a “companion” study guide for a book that I wish the author would have written. The stories are not directly related to the theme, although they are inspirational and applicable, to a minor extent. The written material could be contained in about 10-20% of the entire book.
Strand defines love: Love is an action directed to another person that is motivated by our relationship to Jesus Christ and is given freely without a personal reward in mind. He includes several true stories of love in action. An awesome study.
Took me a while to get through this small devotional book. I wanted to take my time to absorb the information and to reflect on the message - that we need to really live for others as an example of Jesus’ love for us.
I think this should have been in the series, not read alone. I do love anything with the Fruits of the Spirit in it...but left a little wanting as far as content
An outstanding devotion on the subject of Patience. This is a part of Robert Strand's Nine Fruits of the Spirit series. Well written. Biblical. Lots of wisdom and insight.
This little book (the first in a series, bought at Dollar Tree for a dollar each) wasn't my favorite. It seemed kind of preachy/stern, and some of the questions seemed to focus on earning the Father's love through good works. I want to save it and see if my mind changes as I grow. I like the workbook/reading combination.
