January 20, 2013Absolutely love the teaching of Dr Myles Munroe. I have been saved for over 30 years and never heard teaching like this...transformation!
I have been preaching what I thought was the gospel message for many years now around Africa and the Philippines and didn't see many lives transformed even though they accepted Christ.
I will certainly be preaching the kingdom message around the world from now on.

i was really disappointed with this book. i had high hopes since my pastor had been reading it and quoted it a few times. and i admit that there are some good nuggets in here. but my frustration came in that it seemed to not really take into account the historical significance of what "the kingdom" phraseology meant to a person hearing it at that time. there are some good truths in here, but it comes from a modernistic angle--at least from the portions of the book that i read. i admit that i didnt finish it. it never captivated me. when the opening sentence is "the greatest threat to the future of the world is religion," then it already is off to a bad start. from the get-go, the book presupposes that there are two forces in the world: the kingdom (the good), and relgion (the bad). but to believe that, you have to jump through enormous theological loopholes to think that the message of the kingdom wasnt fundamentally religious by nature. and you also have to believe that religion is bad--which is something of cliche with modern Christians, a straw man argument that everyone believes to be "bad" but no one can really explain why biblically. there are other problems with the book. it's not fun to read. that's the biggest downside. i want to understand deep biblical truths, but i want it to be presented in an intelligent, cogent, flowing way. as it is, it's a series of bullet point briefly expounded upon with a few paragraphs. that's very tiresome to read, and leads a reader to read only a little bit and put it down. after a few times of this, the reader doesnt return.

Wow. What do you say after reading this book. It opened my eyes to the fullness and greatness of our God. To see His word in Kingdom teaching is altaring my worldview. Everything makes more sense if you see that God is King and how living in His kingdom will provide all your needs according to His riches in glory. I highly recommend this book and the two following.

Many people complain that Dr. Munroe teaches on nothing but the kingdom. My response, "what else is there to teach about?". What did Jesus teach? You got it, the kingdom!
In this book, Dr. Munroe delicately puts together his life's understanding of the Kingdom of God and how central it is to Christian theology. He explains what the Kingdom is (that it is an actual kingdom), how it operates, how we should relate to it, what we should expect from it, how it fits in with our Christianity and so on.
The funny thing about the Kingdom is that it sharply divides Christians: those who get it and those who don't. For the first group, nothing could be more sublime while the latter group just can't understand what the fuss is about.
I think this is a great group study book.

One word: Foundational
Every sentence wrecked me. A refreshing view of the Kingdom and easy to understand.
This gave me a deep sense of purpose in the Kingdom.
I really enjoyed the explanation of actual Kingdoms on earth, living in America has disconnected me from understanding kingdoms. By deeper understanding how kingdoms actually operate, it gets me very excited to be a citizen of Heaven and function in Gods perfect kingdom.
This will be a book that I will read multiple times throughout my life! I am already excited to read it again.

Coming from a British colony like the Bahamas, Munroe's insights into a kingdom and it's extended kingdoms/colonies help us understand the relationship between God's kingdom in heaven His desire to expand that kingdom to earth.
If you ever feel that Munroe is too far into the faith movement or dominion theology, that may be true. Just remember that we need to be taught to have faith ... not to wait for it all to happen in the next age. In the "now, not yet" reality it's easy to concede that "not yet" will we all be healed, etc. So emphasizing the need to grow "now" in faith is better than to emphasize the need to sit and watch time go by.

August 11, 2020This is a book for those who believe. If you do not believe this book is not for you.
From the very beginning of this book you are required to subscribe beyond a reasonable doubt to the Christian belief and worldview if you do not you cannot read this book. This is not problematic to me however because one does not read such a book unless they do in fact subscribe to this very same worldview.
What confused me most in this book was how the author attempted to distinguish between religion and what I believe is the kingdom of God. My problem with this is that it attempts to separate God from the atrocities and division that religion has caused. But that is wrong and irresponsible as religion would not exist without God and therefore the responsibility for the acts done in the name of God through religion definitely rest solely on God and His kingdom. I feel this is a grave shortcoming of the book and author as it shows an inability to examine the beliefs put forth in this book from an unbiased viewpoint.
Other than the above point I believe that Rediscovering the Kingdom is a good book for any Christians as it focuses on what must happen after someone becomes a Christian and talks about the work one must do in the kingdom. A lot of the time Christians focus on getting people through the gates (Gates meaning getting people saved and born again) but neglect to focus on what happens after someone is saved. In this book Myles Monroe talks about what it means to be a Christian to be a part of the kingdom and what exactly that entails. For these reasons I would recommend this book.
In conclusion rediscovering the Kingdom is a good book that lays down a lot of important groundwork for anyone looking to build their faith. I believe I have stated any and all problems I can reasonably include meaning all problems that do not entail my personal views in terms of God and theology as that would mean I would have a problem with the very existence of this book. So my views aside and my aforementioned concerns taken into account Rediscovering the Kingdom is a book I would recommend to a confessing Christian.

Truly interesting read, but it’s hard to recommend a theological book that teeters so frequently on what I feel is shaky theology.
Some of Munroe’s ideas and explanations about the Kingdom are intriguing and powerful, but behind some very good content stands an obvious preference for many tired, old prosperity gospel points.
He begins the book with the powerful quote; “an idea is more powerful than an army,” - which is a powerful statement. But if the idea in question favors a poorly interpreted view of the Bible, then is it really worth pursuing?
To be clear, I’m better for having Munroe’s offering...some of his understanding of the interaction of the gospel and the kingdom - especially in terms of how we should preach the gospel like Jesus preached it - are really good and really valuable.
For a book that you’re willing to pick apart to find the value, this is a decent read. But if that’s not your thing, this might not be for you.

For the most part, I enjoyed this book. It's a decent read if you know how to, "eat the meat and throw away the bones." Myles makes some good points in the book but some things are from a seemingly loose interpretation of scripture. The best way to explain it would be that some of the ideas or points in the book come from the concept behind the title and not based on what the bible actually says (in clear text).

Awesome reading. A comprehensive and accessible view on the Kingdom of God in all the Scriptures. Munroe is passionate that the church has focused on the gospel of the door (getting people to be born again) vs. life inside the door. That the good news is the message of the kingdom, living as the people of God under the rule of God. Some of the spirit/ matter discussions I disagree with, and it was a little weak on the outworkings of building the kingdom. But still five stars!!

Other than the Bible, I can not think of another book that has so challenged my worldview and pressed me closer to Christ. God is awakening a new day in His Church as she stands with these Kingdom truths as her foundation. On earth as it is in Heaven!

I wish more churches would teach this topic. Reminds me of what Paul said about feeding on milk vs strong meat. Milk (basic teachings) is for baby Christians. We need more deep topics like this being taught.
