When I read this i didnt know what to expect. I've always chosen books with a much more different genre. However I was plesantly suprised. The author did an extraordinary job with detail and scene exploration. i really got into the story lines with this girl and her roomates. I can appreciate a story about keeping two lives: one the world sees as a colege student with a bright future, and the other as a sensual massuer. Sierra does a fantastic job showing both sides of the girls life making the reader really get inside the mind of this girl.

I was very impressed and recommend this book to everyone.

A couple of years ago I was invited to a book signing by a friend and colleague of mine with whom I have been on quite a few archaeological digs. This, her first book, is the story of a young, gorgeous, graduate archaeology student working her way through school by moonlighting as a masseuse specializing in happy-endings. I read the first chapter and had to set the book aside. The next time I met her I had to explain that it was rather difficult for me to read paragraph long scenes where the heroine covers her body in hot oil and then proceeds to massage her clients buttocks with her ample but firm breasts. "Who the hell do you think I have in mind when I'm reading that?" I asked with a grin. "But it's not me" she laughs, "it's just a story!" Yeah, right. She describes her self to a T, the character speaks the way she does ("sweetie"), and much of the personal background and habits are the same. Ok ok...I know...It's not you...ha! Reading this, I am reminded of James Joyce "Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man"...do I touch it? Check out my review Joyce and you'll understand my dilemma. By the way, there is a picture of "Sierra" on the back cover of the book and on her website. Neither picture comes anywhere close to capturing her actual beauty.

Intimate Encounters by Sierra Michaels is the story of a young woman named Cali who lives a double life. During the day she is a university student with dreams of becoming an archeologist. But at night she is a sensual massagist. Cali struggles to balance both sides of her complicated life, but in spite of her best efforts is unable to keep them separate. When the pressure of living in two distinctly different worlds begins to take its toll, Cali must make some very difficult life decisions.

Although Intimate Encounters is a novel which deals with provocative themes and adult situations, it boldly confronts the harsh reality that many women such as Cali find themselves in. Cali must face both the physical and legal dangers of working as a sensual massagist while trying to support herself. Being able to see the world through Cali’s eyes gives the reader a privy look into a world that is alien to most people.

I enjoyed reading Intimate Encounters for its candid honesty about the sex business and inspiring message. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading a story of a woman learning to overcome the failings of her own desperation.

Intimate Encounters deals with provoking themes and confronts a harsh reality that many women such as Cali find themselves dealing with. She must face both the physical and legal dangers of working as a sensual massager ans still support herself.

This is a must read book with great real life characters you find yourself reaching out to and descriptive scenes leaving you wanting more. The conflict of the proverbial right and wrong is seen as Cali struggles with her education, life and profession.


I highly recommend this book.
