This story Rapunzel has beautiful pictures that intrigued me during the whole story. The book has extremely detailed pictures from one page to the next. I enjoyed how on each page, the picture related to the words. They went together perfectly which made it easy for me to visualize what was going on in the story. Paul O. Zelinsky did an incredible job of making connections from the words to the pictures; it was almost like a movie scene in my head. Another aspect of the book that I thoroughly enjoyed looking at, was the amount of coloring on each page; it added a spark to the events that occurred for Rapunzel. Kids would enjoy reading this book because it would grasp their attention. Kids love a good fairytale and this book is a perfect book for kids to use their imagination. As a teacher I would use this book in my classroom and then ask the kids to make up there own story by using their sense of imagination.

This story is a classic, in which I hold high expectations as a reader. It does a marvelous job while presenting the story of Rapunzel. The illustrations really set the tone of the story. They are elegant and very well done, which allows the reader to really get engaged in the story. The story is filled with scenic pictures on every page. The beginning and ending of the book are scenes of a village that Rapunzel is from. The pictures come to life with the emotion the characters face, as Rapunzel’s parents lose her and get taken away. They are bright, colorful and very fun to look at. This would be a great story time book to share with a classroom. All though it is targeted for young readers I would be hesitant to present it in a classroom just because Rapunzel gets pregnant in the book, which could bring up questions. Overall, the book is very well done.
