Well shiz. Things are not going the way I planned. My danger-noodle stalker is apparently one of my Heart Bonded. Add to that list a lost Orc-Elf Prince…and his brother… That was an awkward conversation, because they didn't even know they were brothers. Surprise! Now you have to share the same girl for all time! Yay you. Did you know there are endless realms, all interconnected? Did you know I'm definitely not from the realm I was raised in? Oh cool, neither did I… The trials are getting harder, and so is my life. As soon as I get close to finding answers, I only end up with more questions. Like, what the hell realm a Succubus is from.
Kira Roman is a Mom of two monsters, she loves reading, and naps. She loves food, and The Office. She loves gloomy, rainy days. Naps, did I mention naps? She loves naps. And food. All the food.
I wanted to like this more, but it was too short. With how many different main character's there are, the book should have been longer to really give us time to get to know them all better.
The fmc is still annoying at times because how can she have "spent her whole life training for these games" only to join the games and be actually useless. I get the faulty, struggling magic part. It's the lack of knowledge and skills in literally anything else, survival or physical, that annoy me and just don't make sense.
Hmmm... Most of the books I've read with more than 5 harem members struggle making each member unique and memorable. The ones that have been successful are usually built slowly to give readers the opportunity to get to know each member / mate personally. This book and the previous one have to be close to novella length. You see where I'm headed? While I think Roman has done a good job making her characters unique, I really only feel shallowly connected to maybe 3 or 4 of them (out of 10+). Maybe this will be a super long series of shorter books, but the next book isn't due out until April 2024, so I'm not holding my breath I'll be around to see it. Another LARGE problem I'm still having with this series is the MFC not matching her back story or motivation. She is BEYOND weak and incapable of doing any of these challenges she's "supposedly prepared for her entire life". She also demonstrates a defeatist attitude in her inner and outer thought processes. THIS DOES NOT MATCH HER BACKSTORY! Imagine Willa from Curse of the Gods or Charisma from the Arcane Mage series. These character types (while I love them) do not have backstories with a goal oriented determined personality that drives them to endlessly train so they can win the fae blood games. These continuity issues are driving me nuts!
My recommendation would be to wait until the entire series is out (10 years from now?) And can be read as a single book rather than small episodes.
I loved this book. I love how she found a few more of her heart bonded. I love that she was reunited with them all in the end and I love how they are all trying to protect her. I love that she makes friends with the exes new girlfriend and they become friends and I love that she learns that she is half-goddess. I love that she makes it through every trial so far and that her men have been helping her. I hated that this book ended on a cliffhanger but I cannot wait for the next book to come out.
I gave this series a solid try, but another abrupt ending has me done with it.
I would rather pay more for one solid book then less per book for 4 short books with zero story arc per book. When you just chop a book into 4, then each has to have some kind of conclusion to something! Have an overarching story line through out the series and have each book have merit on its own.
Moonlight is still in the Elven Games and seems like a lot if people are out to kill her. Her magic is on the fritz, she has too many Heart Bonded to count and everyone seems to be keeping secrets.
Quick wit, humor and sexy times to keeping you coming back for more.
I almost died from laughing so hard. Kira really amps up the humor in Rage Quit, the second book in the Witchy Games series. I forgot how funny the first book was and this one was even funnier. This series is quickly becoming a favorite.
Seriously, Moon is one of my favorite characters. She is all kinds of sassy, funny, and sweet. She tries to be threatening but no one's really believing it. Moon has a big heart and cares about people. However, the best thing about Moon is her wacky thought process. I don't even know how she goes from one thing to another or how anything connects but I do know it's hilarious.
Moon's harem grows and it's the most complicated thing ever. They vary in species and links. Silas aka "Murder Noodle" (cracks me up every time Moon calls him this) is a light-one and he hates everyone but out of the group he comes for Tristan (the elven prince) the most. Tristan's half-brother Arlo is just as sweet as ever but he isn't the only one. Cato aka "Danger Lizard" (dragon) and Odas (cyclops) are sweet as well but Cato really let his dragon swagger out and I swooned, I admit it. Fenrrick (fae prince?) Has done a complete one-eighty, he was kinda a jerk in the first book but apparently, that was just a mask. The fae was absolutely adorable, I would do anything for him. Those are just the most active in this book because there is still Crow, his big brother Killi and I'm pretty sure a certain phoenix is a part of it and oh Daire has finally has stopped being a grump and is coming around.
What is happening in this book? The trials are getting more dangerous and somehow wildly familiar. It's a mixture of childhood memories and, oddly enough, the TV series America Ninja but with a paranormal twist. Go figure. As the relationships develop further, more information about the guys' past is told shedding light on painful pasts, present connections, and hopes for a future with Moon. There are also a lot of revelations, especially about parentage. Moon gets her answers about a lot of stuff and is in total shock while one of her guys is questioning everything and another has confirmed his suspensions.
Rage Quit was a blast. I had so much fun laughing my way through this book. The characters are all kinds of interesting, the relationships messy, and oh the mystery and danger surrounding Moon kept me hooked. Kira teased readers by giving us a few answers but no I have a lot more questions. Gods, the end had me feeling a certain kinda way. The wait for the next book is gonna be so long. I gotta know what's gonna happen next, I really need for some action hero stuff to go down in the next book, with emphasis on the hero part.
Please note that the following review is for the SERIES, not each individual book. I do my best to not include spoilers in my reviews. Where appropriate, I do include content warnings.
Wasn't really sure what to expect from Kira Roman's series, Witchy Games. I saw a recommendation for it on Facebook while hunting down romance novels with a leading female hacker. What I found was an incredibly entertaining girl gamer geek. It was exactly what I didn't know was missing in my library.
Witchy Games is the story of Aphrodite Moonlight Blossom Hart (Moon)'s story, along with her 11 fated mates. It is a captivating blend of humor, action, romance, and smut - all tangled up like the yarn my kitten dug out of my knitting bag. A knot that you cannot help but unravel, one word at a time.
Fated mates, unknown identities, life or death situations, evil rulers who do evil deeds, prison breaks, and a heroine who is a hit mess. She's more clumsy than I am and has absolutely no filter. At all. Zip. Zilch. Nada. The things she comes up with ... it's a recipe for chaotic comedy. You won't find enemies being turned into a bag of "Richards" just hanging around.
But don't forget about the smut. Its a slow build, slow burn series, but once it kicks off ... 11 mates to see to her every whim .... Some girls have all the luck. Makes me tired just thinking about it.
I was engrossed in the story from chapter one, and I'm sure you will be too.
"We belong to you, forever, and you are ours, always." More heart bonds and secrets are revealed as the games progress and the trials are getting harder. Moon is whisked from heart bond to heart bond, trial to trial, being reunited with one, two or 3 at a time but never getting them all together .One by one the bonds are revealed and although most of the men pretty much knew it had taken Moon longer to figure it out. So many men! I think Moon is a baddass just for that alone, I barely have patience for one never mind 9, or possibly 10! This book just amazes me, there is something going on all the time there are no parts that drag not even a little. I do have little crushes on some of the men, as is normal in well written why choose romances. I love the humour, totally cracked up when the tree was turned into something rather unusual! I am really looking forward to the next book, that was one hell of an ending and I need to see or rather read, what happens next!
This picks up where Book 1 ended and it was full steam ahead. Moon is such a bada**. She has Tenacity, Strength, good Sense of Humor, Determination and Grit. The trails are becoming harder and harder but luckily for Moon she keep finding Heart Bonds like Pokemon.
With each heart bond found Moon knows at some point they will need to be eliminated if she plans to win the trials but she has no desire to forfeit any of her Heart Bonds.
This story was a non stop, steamy adventure. Moon learns more about her mates and finally get a glimpse of who she really is. This story ends on a Cliffhanger full of angst and betrayal. Leaving Moon filled with rage and now she is really ready play the game......HER WAY
I wanted to like this series, but it ended up having too many love interests and not enough plot or character development. I liked the gamer vibes and think it started with potential.
And, while I do enjoy humor and silliness, this felt a bit one-dimensional where the characters started feeling like caricatures. Usually, in a book series, there is space to delve deeper into developing characters and relationships, but I don't get the sense that this will happen if the first 2 books are any indicator.
The FMC comes off as scatterbrained, impulsive, shallow, and self-centered. She keeps insisting she can fight and hold her own, but there is no evidence to support that (yet).
Rage Quit - book 2 in The Witchy Games series picked up where the first book ended with Moon still trying to navigate all of the trials in the Elven Games. Made more difficult with each of her new men added to her band of merry men. It was good to get a couple of friends/side kicks to add to them though. We get to find out more about Moon & who she really is as well as some of the guys backstories. A bit of steam was mixed into all of that too. This series definitely keeps you on your toes whilst your cracking up laughing at all of Moons antics.
Im enjoying this series so much though. Im looking forward to book 3 now.
Probably an unpopular opinion but my biggest issue is TOO MANY MATES
I read a LOT of reverse harem/why choose romance so I can't believe I feel this way, however with how short this book was it is WAY too many mates to keep straight. As soon as I felt like I was getting to know one of the guys, something would happen and Moon would be separated from them. If the author were to expand this book to make it at least twice as long, it would give us readers a chance to feel connected to Moon's men and be able to differentiate between them more easily. But at this length, half the mates would have been easier to handle.
That being said; Moon is hilarious and I love her inner dialogue. I will definitely read the next book.
Ok so I will say we basically see no progress in the majority of the relationships but what we do so is really gripping and sweet. We seem to have a mixture of different / unknown heritages happening so I sense a lot being revealed in the future. I will say the constant joking / silliness is starting to drag now too but I think it’s just not my kind of humour rather than anything inherently wrong with the story! It was good to see the FMC get a little bit of power at the end too! So far seeing her literally accomplish nothing except find more heart bonded mates was becoming tiresome !
Omg!!! Moons story has to be one of my all time favorites!!! I loved getting to pick up where we left of with Moon 🌙 and her Heart Bonded. ❤️ this book had me engrossed the entire time. I devoured it in less than 24 hrs. It has everything I want in a book. Steam and plot along with an amazing line up of characters and a world that is crazy and fun. This book had me lol multiple times and well as anxiety at what would happen next! I can't wait to read the next book and see what happens next for Moon and her men!!
I love Moon; she’s so quirky. The dildo tree had me cackling at 2am.
I know we’re not supposed to have favorites but Fenrick, sweet little poison boy. I loved him so much in this book. We learned about him a little more and I wanted to hug him so hard.
We learn more about Moon and her ‘powers’ from an unexpected source. But I’m so excited to see what happens next with that.
And LUST; kinda wanna nut punch him just because.
I need book three like yesterday.
Helped me out of a slump, which was getting worse.
By now the reader must realize girl has an abundance of heart bonds / mates. The issue is, not only ate thete so many names, but FMC had "nicknames" (some are fake names given to her by the MC, some, are descriptors she gives to them -like danger lizard or murder noodle). Which quickly becomes confusing & overwhelming. I had to do a Google search to jot down a character map. Going back and forth between the multiple POVs is just another layer of confusion. Especially when we jump into a scramble of inner thoughts, woth just an obscure sentence giving clues of backstory.
There is something just…. Incredibly entertaining about this series. We have a yuuuuuge harem (and I am here for it!) and lots and lots of action/adventure with plenty of twists and turns. I adore Moon. She’s like a little bundle of fire and chaos. At this point, I’m very concerned for Lust the Phoenix. I thiiiiink I’ve got the twisty turnies figured out but with that bit of a cliffy we got left on? I’m really just going to have to wait and see!!! 💜
Moon’s internal dialogue never ceases to amaze. I love all the crazy stuff that goes through her mind. I’m also really loving the deepening connections between her and some of her guys. They’re all still kind of coming out of the woodwork and being introduced in a romantic way. It’s definitely a lot for Moon to wrap her head around especially while she’s fighting for her life in the games. There’s a ton of ground yet to cover and I am here for all of it!
This book was the best kind of chaos. There is so much going on in this series and we are in the dark about so much. We are still trying to unravel what everyone is and who is a heart bonded. I still have hope for Lust, I love him. I really liked getting more back stories for the guys, especially Cato and Odas. I love Moon's dialogue. She cracks me up. I am so eager to find out what happens next in these games. I thought the first book was crazy and fun, but this one was so much more!
Moon continues to collect men like pokemon. We are learning more and more about her men and the big bad throughout this book.
I will say I find it interesting that she trained for this because sometimes she seems a bit of a clutz. I know she has her reasons for wanting to win but now her men will have to go for that to happen. I look forward to how that works out.
Rage Quit, the second book of the Witchy Games series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). Moon is one quirky girl. In my book one review, I mentioned the lack of actual 'gaming' story and more of a take on Hunger Games. Haven't changed my mind, but I have to wonder just what did she practice to get ready for the Elven Games? Moon seems woefully under-prepared. That said, I'm still curious to find out how this pans out, because the surprises kept coming.
I’m so mad no one has ever rec’d this for me before!!!! I stumbled on this series because of another book by this author. This ticks all of my box’s when I’m asking for recs so I’m just mad and disappointed atp. This is so entertaining!!! There’s small smatterings of spice that just makes it even spicier in my opinion. Funny asf and the FMC is clumsy but in an unannoying way. The guys have been great kil and the murd3r noodle are my fav 😂❤️
I don’t know if I would say this is name appropriate. But I will say that the second installment was definitely what this set of writing needed. The development of our main character is definitely slow going, but it is going. The bonded are getting up there in numbers. And we are seeing our spice actually be spicy now. I would definitely recommend continuing to read if you were a bit iffy after reading the first book. Rage quit was enjoyable.
Rage Quit continues Moon’s story as she continues to compete in the Elven Games, solve the mystery behind her true heritage and get to know her mates. I throughly enjoyed this book, the story really picked up pace and I found it an addictive and intriguing read. I loved Moon. I really love her internal monologuing and some of the things she says make me laugh. This is a fantastic book that I would recommend reading.
The best I can describe this series is if you watched the first season of Lost and you were confused by the polar bears and black smoke. That is how I felt through book one. Now we are into the part of the series where we learn about the government shadow organization running complicated secret experiments. I swear if they all end up in a purgatory fever dream at the end I am going to be really mad.
It lacks a lot to be a good saga. There is not much character or relationship development and it lacks a lot of world building. I feel like the author was lazy to continue the story or like she regretted writing it, but since it was already started she wanted to finish it as soon as possible. Be that as it may, it's not a good saga. I give it 3 stars because Moon makes me laugh, but that's as far as it goes.
"Moon is a distraction I’m happy to have, though. I would follow her off a cliff and never even notice I was falling." Wow. I am really, really enjoying Moon's story. This second book is just as action packed as the first. She is one b@d@ss FMC and I become more jealous each time a new heart bonded reveals to her. Honestly I am no gamer, I really have no clue, but the story is not spoiled for me.
Moon is right back in the middle of the tournament and trying to understand her new reality with her Heart Bonds. While we see her with small groups, it's only towards the end that she starts learning some facts about the men and herself. Loved the addition of the girl sidekick who shares the knowledge and the semi cliff we are left on.
This book was absolutely incredible! It left off right after the first book ended. You see Moon go through even more trails and meet even more heart bonded. And don't forget the heat! This book definitely pulled me in and I barley was able to put it down. I seriously recommend this series. Kira is such an amazing author and this book definently shows it.
