Flying Saucers and the Scriptures

Rate this book
From the Introduction by Valiant Thor (also known as "The Stranger at the Pentagon"):

John W. Dean was born on a farm about four miles west of Nickerson, Kansas, in the same house where Alex Pearson, winner of the first cross-country airplane race, was later born. Dean became interested in astronomy at a very early age, and grew up believing the known planets in our galaxy were inhabited.

Since we Venusians are keen to meet with open-minded humans of his type, it wasn't long before Dean was contacted by one of our scout ships. I eventually spoke to him directly, as commander of the Earth fleet, and convinced him that interplanetary travel and trade are not only possible, but are already a reality.

Dean took to these galaxial teachings like a fish to water, and eventually became one of the world's most famous and eloquent advocates for the "extraterrestrial" theory. His other book, "Flying Up Close," became a classic in the field, but it is this one, "Flying Saucers and the Scriptures," which has always held a special place in my heart, for it focuses on the spiritual part of the interplanetary experience. As I keep telling my Christian brothers and sisters, for our galaxy to survive, we all need to learn to stop fighting and start cooperating.

Dean attended school in Missouri, Oklahoma, and Kansas. He graduated from the Kansas State Teachers College and attended the renowned Pratt Institute of Art in Brooklyn, New York, as well as the School of Applied Art in Chicago. He taught mechanical drawing and art at various schools in several states, such as Kansas, Montana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Connecticut, Tennessee, and Maryland, and Illinois. Along the way, he became one of our greatest ambassadors for interplanetary thought and cooperation.

"Flying Saucers and the Scriptures" is the natural development of a lecture that Mr. Dean gave for years to UFO clubs across the country. In it, he has preserved the informality of the lectures by including some witty stories that lighten the overall serious intent of the work. As an artist, Dean was herein able to craft many of the interesting and legible charts and illustrations himself.

Mr. Dean is well known to many saucer clubs and convention-goers, both as a speaker and writer/illustrator. He has contributed to several magazines and newspapers on space travel and ufology over the years. He is also the author of "Leathercraft Techniques and Designs, first published in 1950. He is currently working on the book, "A Teacher Reminisces," covering his many years of experience in the classroom, in addition to continuing his almost inexhaustible efforts to solve the UFO mystery and increase our knowledge of interplanetary spacecraft and travel.

John W. Dean served as White House Counsel for United States President Richard Nixon from July 1970 until April 1973. In this position, he became deeply involved in events leading up to the Watergate burglaries and the subsequent Watergate scandal cover-up. He was referred to as the "master manipulator of the cover-up" by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He pleaded guilty to a single felony count, in exchange for becoming a key witness for the prosecution. This ultimately resulted in a reduced prison sentence, which he served at Fort Holabird outside Baltimore, Maryland.

Dean is currently an author, columnist, and commentator on contemporary politics, strongly critical of conservatism and the Republican Party, and is a registered Independent who supported the efforts to impeach President George W. Bush.
