Cute pictures but in terms of helping kids identify letter sounds it is less helpful. For example for the letter D it has drums, drawing, and dragonfly as three of the six pictures. But “dr” together makes a J sound. And for the letter S it includes shell, the “sh” sound.I don’t think baby Einstein consulted a kindergarten teacher when they made this book. I know I am being picky but whenever I see those alphabet charts and it has a picture but doesn’t actually match the most common letter sounds I know it’s not the right one for beginning letter sound acquisition. Yes drum does start with a D but if you want your kiddo to learn the most common D sound that will support them in learning to read, that’s not the picture to put with the D. Clearly I am a phonics advocate!
Beautifully crafted picture book for tots by the Baby Einstein company, which seeks to encourage learning in little ones and taking it to next level heights of fun and giggles. Here toddlers learn about five different letters in our alphabet: B, D, F, H and S. The pictures are almost like paper cutouts, and some are totally cool: for D you have a dog with a set of drums, and the dawg is jamming like the late Keith Moon of the Who! Niiiice. The people of Baby Einstein seem to have their hearts in the right place, even if their motives for education are based on pure monetary gain. But nah, why tell that to your 3 year olds? Even with baby Einstein brains, kids can still be very sensitive!!! I was once three myself, and trust me, I know! Three stars A-B-C ya, Einsteins! And have fun learning!
