Cross my heart and watch them die. Welcome to my dark side.
Having family doesn’t always mean you’re loved. Sometimes, it means you’re sacrificed for the ‘good of the family,’ leaving you alone, scared, and vulnerable. My family forgot about me, moving on with their lives as if I never existed. I found a way to escape the nightmare I was thrown into, and every day, I tried to find my way without guidance.
Then, the devil came back for me, leaving my daughter alone to fight new demons who threatened to drag her into the darkness. When I discovered what she endured, I did everything in my power to save her. For years, I watched her from afar, ensuring she was safe, protected, and loved.
I learned to be alone, fighting every day to carve out my place in the world and trying to forget about the painful lessons I was forced to learn. I tried my best to never cross paths with the ones who threw me away, until I discovered they had taken in the one person who meant the world to me.
Now, I must confront my past, in order to save my future and hopefully, not lose my heart or my mind, in the process.

Hawk, Book 6 in the Death Hounds MC Series by author Author H.J. Marshall
GAH! HAWK IS INTENSE, HEART WRENCHING, RIVETING, SUSPENSEFUL, MOVING & SO MUCH MORE. YOU’LL BE REJOICING BY THE END OF THIS TOP SHELF 5✶ READ!

“Cross my heart, and watch them die. Welcome to my dark side.”

Boy, ain’t that the truth!

Hawk, book six in the Death Hounds series broke my heart with its gut wrenching tale of a little girl whose life turned on a dime in a split second and was thrust into the bowels of hell. But then one day an unlikely Death Hound swoops in to save the day and the rest is Death Hounds history.

Imagine if you will, if you can, that you’re a 14 year-old girl whose life was surrounded by a life of crime, brought up by one of the most ruthless, depraved, abhorrent detestable human beings on the face of the earth. Then that very same man tricks this little girl and thrusts her into a life filled with UNIMAGINABLE pain, life threatening daily PUNISHMENTS you can’t even FATHOM. Then multiply him by a hundred and that’s who controls this little girl now. On a good day, she fights for every breath she can muster while being controlled by a man you could only describe as a narcissistic psychopathic.

As the years pass and the punishments worsen, she devises a plan to escape. To get back to the one person she left behind. If only the eyes of a man who guards her could see her desperation. Couldn’t he, wouldn’t he help her? Yet day after agonizing day her life becomes rinse and repeat debilitating pain, never seeing freedom, never seeing an end to this nightmare called her life.

Until one night. It happens. Stella Lenkov died and Stella Bonavair was born. But at what price? She sacrificed herself to protect her greatest love.

Riddled with guilt, she chooses a life of seclusion with her constant companion Zeus, planning her revenge. Living far away from the one person who meant everything to her but knowing her past and the circumstances behind it was unforgivable. Or was it? Her past left her unable to trust people and who could blame her? Is she destined to live her life alone? That would be a real shame wouldn’t it?

Years pass.

Enter the Death Hounds MC and the entire MC family, my man Devlin “the madman” Callahan whom I can’t get enough of, Lucian “the lunatic” Callahan and their brother James, and the one man who, if you turned back the hands of time would see that he changed everything. What that everything is I’ll never tell. But it’s good. It’s really good.

This extended MC family is pure heart and righteous gold. Each and every member of this family is an extension of the other. I’ve read each book in the Death Hounds series and the love they share for one another, even the toughest of the tough will soften and burrow inside your heart and hold it hostage.

Meet Hawk aka Colton Hawkins who we met in a previous book in the series. Everyone needs a Hawk in their lives. At least I do anyway. He’s so protective of Stella and his family. Nothing will get in the way of their happiness if he has anything to say about it. He is the best dang father to his most precious children, 8 year old Matthew and 5 year old Anna. He raises them all on his own since his ex left them all without a word and never looked back. I fell in love with his children immediately.

A picture is worth a thousand words and has the power to move mountains and sends this white knight on his chrome and steel horse to reunite two people who’ve been apart way too long. Who is that? Could it be more than one “two people”? Hmm. Suddenly my mouth stopped working and I can't tell you.

What I can tell you is that when the past meets the present, it’s love all the way baby. For more than one person. Even the non human kind. Turns out, Hawk is every woman’s swoonylicious dream and is one of the most compassionate, loyal men I’ve read in romance. He’s gentle when he needs to be with his children and Stella and is also one not to be messed with and is downright lethal if you cross him or try to hurt those people he loves. His family. His entire family. That includes the entire Death Hounds family and their deadly associates.

I don’t want to give anything away and get into too much detail but Stella and Hawk build something really special. Patience, strength, forgiveness and love play major roles in Hawk and left me in awe of this couple.

When a new family develops and a blast from a very unwelcomed past shows up with nothing good on their mind, deadly tricks up their sleeve and a stunning act of violence, a dog named Zeus and the backing of the brotherhood take action.

It’s a race against time to find the one they love before the unimaginable planned acts of depravity take place. And when the location is discovered in the Flats of Portstill, the madman takes over and that’s not a good place to find yourself in if you're the perpetrators. But as it turns out, a bad a## just might take matters into their own hands when another life is at stake.

Danger, vengeance and bloodshed is sure to follow those who do unspeakable harm to the innocent and pay the price in this story and one of the most satisfying epic endings. It’s quick, violent and dare I say enjoyable to read about. What’s that say about me? It says I love dark romance that’s what.

BOOK FAVES
The friendship between Hailey and Hawk.
The reuniting of several characters.
Zeus.
The kids.
A boy and a dog.
A woman named “Momma”.
The very satisfying and epic ending.
And of course, Devlin Callahan.
A new addition.
The villains. My lord there are plenty of them. They were so bad they tested my resolve again and again. Especially Sergey and Adrik. I want to say I loved hating them but I hated them so much I couldn’t love them. But that’s ok, I’ll get over it. You’re not supposed to love a villain anyway.
My favorite line was “I was surrounded by women who understood me, men who would protect me, and a family that I always longed for.” This line was what this book was all about. Love in every single way there is to love another, human or otherwise. Every good and bad thing that happened brought Stella where she needed to be. How satisfying is that?! Well done author H.J. Marshall. Well freaking done!

Hawk is intense, heart wrenching, riveting, suspenseful, moving and so much more. You’ll be rejoicing by the end of this top shelf 5-✶ read!

Take the journey towards salvation, forgiveness, healing and love with Hawk, Stella and the rest of the gang. I highly recommend you do.

Hawk is the next book in the Death Hound Series by H.J. Marshall. I’ve just about read every book that’s been written, and have not been disappointed. Her stories are by far the most relatable, get you in your feels, but have you connect with the characters. Some of the scenarios that take place in this series, can be dark, but make them no less real.

Now Hawk (Colton) is an ex military man that was discharged, worked for some people in the only way he knew how… lost himself, but later found a place with the Death Hounds, a family that he’d just about do anything for. Then there is Stella… a woman who just about went through hell and back, fought to just stay above water, and did everything she could to save her daughter from the sidelines. After so many years of not realizing what he took part of, Hawk goes looking for someone he helped in past. Now the question is…. Will they get to have a happy ever after or will the past come knocking?

There is only one way to find out, and that’s to give Hawk a read.I highly recommend this book. But please be prepared for some dark scenarios in this book. I also recommend the other books that are a part of The Death Hound Series.

Absolutely love Hawk. Araneta walked out of his and their kids lives over a year ago. The woman didn't deserve them. Hawk was raising his kids with the help of his family, the Death Hounds. This club is such an amazing group of people and they open their arms to ones in need. But Hawk sometimes feels like he doesn't deserve them because of his past.

His past includes a woman he never forgot about, part of the reason he feels undeserving, but he saved her, or he gave her the tools to save herself, either way she owned his heart.

Stella lived through hell. All due to the hands of her father. Men were untrustworthy, all except for one. She has a daughter to protect and that's all she allows her focus to be on, she would love to be with her, but knowing she protects her from a far will have to be good enough. Her brother's, well she doesn't trust them and she'll kill them to protect the world from the evil of their father that lives inside of them.

I was given an ARC for an unbiased review. This book was incredible, from start to finish I couldn't put it down!

HJ Marshall gave us the one, two knock out punch with this alpha hero. Hawk has things he wants to stay in his past but when his past and present collide can it salvage his future and that of his MC family. Stella thought her brothers were the dysfunctional ones of their family until one cruel night destroys her views.
Hawk and Stella have a chance at a happy future but will Stella’s past keep her from seeking a future filled with love and those she thought she lost forever? Hawk is determined to show her that she’s worth it. Now it’s up to her to face her past and take her future into her own hands.
HJ Marshall wraps up the Death Hounds MC perfectly and answers a lot of questions. I wish we could give more than 5 stars because this book deserves that and a standing ovation! I can’t wait to see what she has in store for her readers!

HOLY *^*^!!!!!! What a freakin incredible, intense story! The more I read this story the more intense, heartbreaking and emotional it got. These characters are so intertwined and nothing is as it seems. Stella, her brother's, as well as her daughter Hailey have been to utter h*^* and back and to an extent they're still living it. This story seems to come full circle and every character plays a pivotal role in the outcome. Hawk is a fantastic journey and these characters are absolutely amazing. The dynamics between them all is beautifully written and the chemistry between Hawk and Stella is positively explosive. Now I'm trying to patiently wait for Lucian's story. I believe it's going to be epic!

It's hard to put into words just how much I loved this story. Stella survived a horrific past and made herself into a force to reckoned with. Hawk's history didn't keep him from being a wonderful, loving father to his kids even though he still had that dark side buried. The two come together and their story pulls you in and doesn't let go even after you finish the book. The twists and turns of all of HJ Marshalls characters involved leave you on the edge of your seat desperately turning pages. Starting from Devlin's book, book 1 of the Embattled Dreams series, all the way through the Death Hounds MC series to this amazing story will take you on such a wild, page turning book binge that will leave you begging for more.

Dark, twisted and perfect.

This book had it all, please be sure to check your triggers before diving in.

You can't help but to love Hawk. He is such a loving man and an amazing father.

But dude, Stella. Poor woman went through so much darkness and still was so strong, caring, and kind. She refused to be backed into a corner or to give up.

They make the perfect couple, and I loved their story.

This book was amazing. I loved it from start to finish. I love this entire series, the world H.J. has created and the characters in it. I can't wait to see what happens next.

This story was more intense than I thought it was going to be. I knew I was going to love Hawk’s story before I started and I was very happy with it. I love how protective Hawk is toward Stella and Stella is toward Hawk’s kids. They have such a great family dynamic. Stella just can’t catch a break as she is kidnapped, but she is able to save another young girl. More secrets are revealed and another mystery is afoot. I can’t wait to learn Carly’s story. Another great DHMC story.

This book was amazing. Dare I say the best one in the series!! I was sucked in from page one. Hawk and Stella are my favorite couple in this series. Stella is such a strong woman, who has been through so much, things that would destroy most woman. Hawk has had his heart shattered, but won’t allow it to make him bitter. You will be taken on an emotional ride that you won’t wanna get off.

Hawk was a brilliant read. I was thoroughly entertained throughout the whole novel. I absolutely loved Hawk and Stella’s story ❤️❤️❤️ she’s definitely one tough lady who can look after herself. I was intrigued reading about they knew each other and had lost touch. Stella finally gets to meet up again with her daughter, Haley, who is also connected to Hawk. 100% recommend this book to everyone ⭐️⭐️⭐️ such an awesome read, you won’t be disappointed 😎

2 rating

A 2 rating because of the story line being repeated so many times I knew the author didn't have anything else to put there. It was tedious to see so much of the same things over and over again. It was monotone and I was thinking it wasn't much of a MC with how much they were pussy whipped. Yeah, if you want to be bored then go for it. I missed so many pages until something actually happened I zoned out. Boringggg

Reunited, second chances and family

Hawk and Stella have one if those relationships that you never would expect to come to light. Past meets future, family is reunited and truths are brought out in the open. So much anger, torment and sadness in this story but also second chances at love, happiness and forgiveness. Very powerful and an amazing story by H.J Marshall

Hawk and Stella's story was a twisted one.
Full of longing, pain, horrific endurance, and protecting those who could not protect themselves.

There were painful and disturbing scenes that could be triggers for some but they are necessary if you wish to understand these characters.
Both have pasts that are unlike anything I have experienced and I found myself riveted to the pages.

Watching Stella find her footing in her new reality was like a balm to my soul, seeing her reunite with her family was rewarding, and reading about her learning to trust again—after everything she had endured—warmed my heart.

The chemistry between Colton and Stella was potent, you could sense their desire and their feelings were crystal clear. However, it was more of a slow burn for these two. Their past experiences played a huge part in their reluctance to get between the sheets.

If you have read and enjoyed any of the previous books, you will no doubt love this one.
Suspense, steam, and unwavering loyalty are just some of the best qualities you will find in this book.
