Overall the premise is good, but it is so incredibly slow moving, then we get an info dump at the end of the book to explain what the hell happened in the climax. It really would have been a good book if it peppered in those details throughout, instead of just continually drumming in our heads that they feel funny, they feel something is up, the atmosphere is oppressive. There's only so many ways you can say the same thing over and over.

An excellent book. Evil never dies, it just relocates. In this case it moved to the painting of the house.

I read this book years ago. I don't remember the typos, but I do remember the story very vividly. It was both upset and distraught--just like you should be with a good horror story! So if you're looking to unnerve yourself this is the way to go!

I bought this book in a local booksale when I was 14, several years ago. I find it scary at that time, and even remember being shaken up, as if I am hearing the creaking and falling broom in the story haha! After this,I don't read horror books anymore

Undertow did not pass my 50 page cutoff. The story dragged and the book did not manage to keep my attention.

How can you write a book about an undead pirate worshipping the SATAN OF THE OCEAN and make it be this boring?
