Playing hard to get makes Samari love that much harder. Blade is the notorious playa and Samari is the playa hater. She does everything in her power to set him up to deflate his ego of thinking that every and any woman wants him. But in reality she is weakening her resolve and experiencing feels she has never had before. After Samari's plans work to destroy Blade's ego she then finds her self in a life threatening situation where he is her new body guard and love of her life. Absolutely beautiful story with plenty of steamy moments.
Love it!!! It's super hot and sexy. Blade gave Clayton a run for it but it took the right woman Samari to put him in his place and to tame him. But know it's useless to stop a Madaris man once he finds his mate. Sometimes dreams and fantasies do come true. Check out sensual confessions to see.
Let me start off by saying that this is my favorite Madaris novel so far, with Truly Everlasting coming in second. With that said, the Madaris series as a whole is starting to become too unbelievable. There is too many life and death storylines happening to the members of this family and their friends. Like I said earlier, individually each Madaris book is a true work of art, but when you add them all together, not very enjoyable as a sustainable series
Samari and Blade both were two strong willed people who from the start seemed to hold a bucket full of sexual tension between them. Blade was really aggressive in trailing Sam to get what he wanted. The games Sam was playing I was surprised someone hadn't forced themselves on her. She was playing a dangerous game especially if she took any of them as far as she did with Blade in her home. At that point in the story I thought she was really silly to go to that length to teach a man a lesson that really could've bitten her in butt. In the end the story was really good with more drama then enough.
Awesome read! Samari tried playing hard to get when in actuality she really wanted Blade who had to come to her defense and save her life...both were made for one another. Very nice love story with lots of intense moments from start to finish.
Samari Di Meglio is all that and more that any man could want, but is that what she wants because one night stands are not her thing. NOT. Blade Madaris believes he can be the exception.
This is most certainly a read the will read again and again. Jackson make the Madaris Family & Friends a series to come back to over and over again.
This is not a genre that I regularly read, and this book obviously is part of some kind of series, so some of the "off-screen" character references were lost on me. But, the story was a quick read and while I thought I had the "conflict" figured out, I ended up with the rug out from under me. Well played, Ms. Jackson.
Here's a sensual confession . . . . ."The Player, got played, and the player hater fell for the player she played." Great read, I really admired the fact that Blade stepped in and protected his lady. Great Job Ms. Jackson, I can't wait to read Reese and Kenna's story!
I liked it, that Blade was something else and Sam was definitely something to be reckoned with. A must read. But what can you expect from Brenda Jackson.
I suppose this book could be read as a standalone. I believe it would be somewhat confusing to someone who had not read any of the previous books. With all of the references to other members of the Madaris family and previous situations that have occurred, it could be difficult to keep them all straight.
I stopped counting the number of times "sensual confessions" was reiterated. It became off putting. The Madaris men are all tall, dark, handsome, intelligent, and wealthy. Their biggest flaw is that ALL woman want them. Even Sam wanted Blade, but spent a good portion of the book trying to convince herself she wasn't going to give in to him. Do they have ANY character flaws, other than being "honest, honorable players"?
One thing that really irked me was when one of the wives said something like, "if a Madaris husband wants you to have a baby, no birth control of condom is going to stop him." Really? Are you serious?
Blade was arrogant, not very likable and Sam was arrogant, and not likable. by the time he became somewhat tolerable, I didn't care. It was not surprising that someone would be after her, based on the way she played men. Sam kept playing dangerous games. I was honestly shocked when she did what she did to Blade. Also, how could Sam be a successful attorney when she made way too many assumptions, and never tried to find the facts to support them. I wouldn't want her working on my case.
There was a lot of sex. I didn't get a sense of any kind of sexual tension or chemistry from them. I thought that with Blade being the player everyone professed him to be that the sex would have been much more interesting.
I have read several books in the Madaris series, and most of them have been similar and just been OK. I have read almost the entire Westmoreland series. I feel like the early books in that series are the best. They kept me coming back for more. I even found her Steele series and the Bachelors more interesting. I have accepted the fact that the Madaris series just doesn't do it for me.
The best part of this book was the plot twist at the end. I didn't see it coming. I would definitely recommend that you read the book and judge for yourself. Just because it didn't do much for me doesn't mean that someone else won't love it.
Even though I’m over the ‘Player-turned-husband’ plot lines, because frankly Clayton was a H** LOL! had to be said. Wish Brenda Jackson would write a story where the man is a virgin. Instead of them constantly “needing to fulfil their male urges”😒Blade and Samari’s story was truly entertaining, mainly due to their personalities and dynamic. One thing that got me, was that Alex Maxwell is always describe as being a Top detective, whose reputation precedes him, but this is the second time he has come to the wrong conclusion😂(first being Slade and Skye’s story), only this time, it nearly cost someone their life.
Blade is a player and Samari is a player hater aka the Slayer of Players. I love Blade because he gets straight to the point. Sam taught it was smart to set up players and then play them because some terrible guy she was going to marry🤨. For being a smart woman, she’s does something that stupid. She claimed to be a player hater after her roommate in college committed suicide over a guy using her sleeping pills. Then come to find out later that the person stalking her is her roommate’s brother who blames her for his sister‘s death. Ridiculous!!
Yes her and Blade up with their HEA. Her character was good in Mac’s story but foolish in her own. Her and Peyton are two sides of the same coin.

Couple of things. Is Sam crazy?!? Did she really think it was okay to tease men and nothing would happen??? Also how old is great grandma?? 100? I don't think it was that serious for same to do what she did. So you got your heart broken, plenty of people do. They don't go out getting revenge on random people.
Sam and Blade had a great story. He was a player and she was a player hater. He was drawn to her and thought that he just needed one night. She was convinced she needed to teach him a lesson. They had great chemistry. A lot happens in this story. Definitely a page turner. I enjoyed this book a lot.
One of my favorites in the Madaris series. Characters are engaging and realistic...their stores are told in a manner that makes you keep reading. Intriguing and a bit of a mystery, too. Great read.
Samari and Blade want each other bad. Only problem? He's a player, and she hates them. Blade doesn't understand why Sam won't just give in to the attraction between them, especially since she doesn't want a relationship either. But Sam hates his whole type--or at least the type she thinks he is.
So, when I say their chemistry leapt off the pages. That antagonism couldn't have ended them up anywhere else but in bed. I did think Blade was doing too much in the beginning and when Sam dropped her bomb that she was playing him, I didn't feel sorry for him at all. That lady told you to leave her alone, lol. But him stepping up to protect her, even with his anger was a way of building a bridge and I was glad it became more about love after that. The subplot was slightly overdone but still believable enough and I felt the danger, as well as Blade protectiveness. Sam's reluctance to get involved was something relatable and her trying to thwart her parents' efforts to marry her off gave it some lightheartedness. Mac and Peyton were right by her side and it reminded me why their three books are special to me. Loved!
I really liked how of all people to fall in love it would turn out to be Blade Madaris......another good read.... both Sam & Blade were fighting the inevitable. Another good Madaris read
