Wonderful first book on Harry Houdini! Sure to please both children and adults; a very nice introduction that will give you the background on HH and then point you in the right direction if you want to read more about his life. Really liked the art - it went well with the story!

This Ready to read book allows children to explore the life of Harry Houdini. It starts off by explaining Harry's struggle as his family tried to find a home and find work. Harry gained interest in coin tricks and soon began to find other tricks and magic. He began performing for $1,000 a week and bringing all of his coins home to his mother. These were his proudest moments. This is a great book because it shows Harry's life from a young child, to a successful adult. The language is simple. I would recommend this book for second graders. They could complete a research project using this book. It gives great facts while telling a story. It could also be paired with Who Was Harry Houdini? and A Picture Book of Harry Houdini. Students who enjoy magic would love the pictures and words showing how talented Harry is. The book also gives the reader knowledge about how Harry (original name Ehrich) got his magician name.
