"To hear the history told by a person so close in time and to the same historical moment, is an illustrative experience. Today, a hundred years from then, it is possible to make rational, cold and calculated conclusions, about the decisions taken by Juarez and his people. Nevertheless reading Justo Sierra, even though he presents a partial view (being a liberal) of history. It left me the feeling of having a direct link into the minds and thought that led the Reform of the country. To judge historical facts as good or bad could is not enough if you don't make an attempt to understand the social context, the psychology of those people that where directly involved, and unique situation that a country (México)and the whole world was going through.
The book itself, is a little hard to read, if you don't have a bast knowledge of the names dates and places involved. There is parts of the book on which the writer, stays to long in very specific situations, when if you're not an expert on the topic, you might get confused and bored."
