A very sexy and exciting paranormal. I loved the hero and heroine, who were both witches and who were fighting the bad guys. There were many sexy love scenes. Mira just found out she was an air witch and had powers and it was fun when she was just starting to learn how to use her powers, with the help of fire witch Jack. Jack was a sexy and caring hero. And I enjoyed the action packed conclusion of the book. I'm looking forward to reading "Witch Blood", the follow up to this book!

There is an audience for Anya Bast's Witch Fire, but unfortunately I am not it.
Here's the Not My Cup of Tea part: this is one of those paranormal romances that's very heavy on the sex and fairly light on the plot, and for that matter, fairly light on the romance. I knew Bast had lost me when I'd gotten sixty or seventy pages into the book and knew little more besides that 1) our heroine Mira was an air witch, 2) our hero Jack was a fire witch who had been surreptitiously keeping watch on her because bad guys were out to get her, and 3) they were hot for each other. Especially #3, because the vast majority of the first sixty or seventy pages are devoted to telling the reader in very blunt and straightforward language about the effects Jack and Mira have on one another's libidos. This continues through much of the book, with our heroine in "zomg he kidnapped me and yet I find him strangely sexy" mode a lot, and some mild bondage play as well.
Here's the part I did like: the setup isn't anything terribly new or different. You can't swing a stick in the fantasy genre without hitting a series about elemental-based magic--and certainly it's hard to top the fun that Rachel Caine is having with that exact schtick over in the Weather Warden novels. That said, I do actually like that schtick, and I wish that Bast would have spent more time describing how magic works in her world and less on how Jack and Mira wanted each other's pants off, because she does seem to have an interesting take on magic. She's also got some promising politics set up between her good witches (the Coven) and her bad witches (the Duskoff), which I expect will provide the fuel for the series in general, unless she's planning on introducing other supernaturals into the mix. Her prose is readable, and once we finally got some action scenes and plot developments, my interest did pick up a bit.
Had there been a bit more plot setup at the beginning and some time taken to let the reader better get to know our heroine before smacking her upside the head with Le Sexx0rs, and more plot in general to balance out all the hormones flying around, I think I would have liked it better. I will say that unlike some authors who write heavy sex, I can actually see why others would find her sex scenes sexy--so if they do sound like your cup of tea, three stars for you. For me, since I prefer a subtler brew, two and a half.

I really, really enjoyed this book. It is incredibly sexy, with a lot of very well-written sex scenes that don't feel at all gratuitous. The plot kept my interest until the very end, and the romance developed at a very nice pace; it started off with sex and attraction and grew into something more. I appreciate that kind of romance a lot more than the love-at-first-sight or soulmates clichés. The characters are nicely-developed (though I would like to have seen a bit more about Jack, the main male character), and Mira is very likable and believably flawed. The system of magick in this world is nicely original, too.

This book has been on my bookshelf for a long time and it's one of those that I keep meaning to pick up, but never get around to it. However, as part of my effort to clean up my bookcase of all the books I have lingering around, but have never read I chose Witch Fire as my October Clearing-my-Case read. And I was excited! Everyone was saying what a great series this was, so admittedly I went in with very high expectations. Maybe too high. Because although I did like this book, it didn't enthral me. I didn't immediately rush off and grab the next book in the series.I've been trying to pinpoint exactly what it was about Witch Fire that I found lacking, that didn't hook me in. Nothing really stood out, which I think may have been my issue with this whole book. Nothing grabbed me. The hero, Jack, was okay but he didn't have much of a personality beyond his womaniser-with-daddy-issues thing. Mira was okay, but much like Jack, she was ultimately forgettable. The relationship itself was very hot, they did have great chemistry and Bast wrote some fantastic sex scenes between them. The problem was, was that I was disinterested.
Then there was the world, now full of witches, warlocks and magic! Exciting right? Meh. I would have liked to have known more, but you weren't given many facts and Mira didn't seem to ask any questions, so the world felt very under developed. It seemed like it was created just so that Mira could be put in a dangerous situation and Jack could save her.
I am making Witch Fire sound awful! But it isn't! It's a short and sexy paranormal romance, unfortunately I didn't feel like either the world, nor the characters had much depth. Because of this I found myself bored whilst I was reading it. I would give this series a second chance and read the next one, Bast's writing was nicely polished and she did write a great sex scene. Maybe it was just a mediocre start!

I read this book for a Dare Challenge and I really didn't know what to expect other than it was about witches.
Opening line: "He looked like sin and seemed like salvation."
I've only read a few witch books and this one was really good. I liked the world the author has created and it wasn't too complicated and confusing to follow. Jack and Mira were great together! Mira was feisty and snarky and Jack was smokin' hot with a penchant for bondage.
There was a lot of sex in this book. Almost-wall-sex, bed-sex, shower-wall-sex, more-bed-sex, tied-up-sex, mirror-sex, floor-sex, more-bed-sex, almost-more-floor-sex, and for the finale...more-floor-sex!!
Oh, there was also magick and action and an evil warlock bad guy!
It was great! I definately plan to read more of this series.

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Years ago I had picked up Witch Blood (book two in the Elemental Witches series), it turned into a great idea. After about halfway through I realized that the sex was too much. My preferences being a lot of plot with a side of hot sex. So what made me come back to this series? Bast came out with a new series, Dark Magick, that just blew me away. Her new series still had quite a bit of sex, but I also had a lot more paranormal titles under my belt.
The Elemental Witches really has a great idea behind it. Witches take up one element: earth, water, fire, or air. There are evil witches, warlocks, who use other witches as sacrifices to Demons to gain more powers. The Warlocks have pretty much wiped out the rare Air Witches, so when they find out about Mira they mean business. Mira doesn’t know she’s a Witch, her parents wanting her to live without the fear of being hunted. So not only is Mira unaware of her powers, and the danger she’s in, she has no idea that her parents were really killed by being sacrificed in a circle.
With this great idea behind it there’s clearly potential for a great plot, but it suffers from being tempered by the sex scenes. Every time the plot would pick up a sex scene would just pop up, and then the page count for those scenes just kept going. Steamy scenes would be drug out to the point where I would think, “And moving on from her third orgasm please.”
Mira and Jack had average chemistry to go with their average plot. Mira’s air magic and Jack’s fire magic are hormone makers when combined and unable to resist the magical pull they tumble into bed together. Then their struggle of “love” continues from there as they try to realize that they might have real un-magically induced feelings for each other. To be honest the need to jump in bed together because of some magic pull is just way over used. (Get over it PNR authors, get over it.) At least I got some really awesome banter out of it.
Witch Fire has a new idea to bring to the overwhelmed genre of Paranormal Romance. Lamentably all of that lovely idea is diluted by an average plot, overdone/lengthy sex scenes, and a so-so love story. Clearly Bast gains more style in her later Dark Magick series, here’s hoping she takes Elemental Witches to that level. (If you’re new to the Paranormal Genre or just thinking about trying it out, this is not the place to start.)

Vast amounts of page time for very detailed sex scenes. Did I mention really lengthy sex scenes?

Newly divorced and working as a waitress to save up for college, Mira Hoskins is completely unaware of the fact that she is about to play a pivotal role in the ongoing conflict between witches and warlocks. Not only is Mira a rare air witch with the potential for tremendous power, but she is also the target for warlocks who seek to use her in a demon summoning ritual. The only person standing between Mira and a certain death is Jack McAllister, a fire witch who will do anything to protect Mira for reasons that are becoming more and more personal.
It has been a while since I read Anya Bast’s excellent Dark Magick series and I’d forgotten how much I enjoy her writing. Bast’s world building is engrossing and her characters have depth and intensity.
Not only do Mira and Jack have explosive chemistry in and out of the bedroom, but each has a well-fleshed out background that makes them all the more appealing. My one small nitpick regarding their romance is the annoying keeping secrets trope. Thankfully, it doesn’t overshadow the relationship too much and is resolved quite easily without the equally detestable silly misunderstanding stemming from a lack of communication.
The plot is secondary to the romance, which is understandable given the nature of the genre and the relatively short length. Nevertheless, what there is to the story is very intriguing and the set up for the next book has potential.
In short, a fast, fun read recommended for lovers of steamy paranormal romance.

This was a fun, sexy, quick read with some refreshingly original details.
Mira is a waitress six months out from her messy divorce. Her parents are long dead and she was raised by her godmother, Annie. According to her parents' last wishes, she was raised in ignorance of her true heritage: she is a witch, powerful in the element of air, the rarest of the four elements.
Then handsome fire witch Jack McAllister comes crashing into her life, rescuing her from an attempted abduction by warlocks (witches twisted by power and greed who kill witches in order to summon demons), and taking her to his apartment until it's safe to move her to the coven in Chicago. Their attraction to each other - air and fire being complimentary - is strong and they both struggle to resist it. Jack especially, who knows she'll hate him once she finds out about his past.
I'm a big fan of stories about elemental magic, and I like the new take on witches. It's a similar set-up to Jacquelyn Frank's elemental demons, but the witches and warlocks are mortal and don't have any soulmate issues. As such, the growing attraction between Mira and Jack is very human and intense, and the sex is very passionate and written in a refreshingly non-corny, non-wishy-washy way. Highly recommended to lovers of paranormal romance.

I just couldn't connect with the characters or the story. In short it was pretty darn boring!!!

My thoughts about Witch Fire by Anya Bast actually sum up in only just a sentence: "I was really dissapointed".That being said,finishing this book was a total miracle for me.Usually,when i don't like a book,i just skip it,but somehow with this one i kept reading,hoping that eventually it would get better.
It's the first book i read by Anya Bast and i picked it after some very high ratings i saw from friends and mostly,because the premise seemed more than interesting.But,it turned out to be something different from what i expected,thus,i couldn't get into it no matter how i wanted.
As i said,the premise is more than interesting.Heroine a girl with huge power who doesn't have a clue about it and hero your typical hot guy who goes to protect her.On top of that,she is an air witch,he, a fire witch and the combination between them promises to create sparkles!And the sparkles were created,don't mind me.The problem was that this book,had only sparkles.Oh, and lots and lots of sex...
I don't believe that i'm actually going to say that,but i was tired of reading about sex.Here,i said it!
The problem with this book wasn't definitely the writing style.It was very good.It wasn't the lack of a couple of characters you couldn't identify yourself in.The main couple was good.The problem was the total lack of plot.It was a rather small book,not even 300 pages and yet,i found myself reading about the couples' sex activities for about 10 pages or so each time and more than once.The sex scenes were,i have to admit,tastefully written,and if there was some actual plot apart those scenes i don't think i would have minded.But when all i read about in this book were the numerous ways Jack and Mira had sex,well,then there's a problem.At least for me.I don't mind some sex in my book or even lots of it,but i also want something more to keep me going through a book.And Witch Fire didn't have anythhing at all.Only maybe the substantial plot needed for filling the gaps between the sex scenes.
I really wanted to like this book and for it to be what the premise promised it to be.The potential was definitely there.The execution though failed to deliver a steamy,action filled book.It delivered though the steamy part!
As far as the characters are concerned,i really can't say many things.Mira and Jack were the only characters developed a bit and the rest of the cast was just there,ready to serve the continuation of the story when and if needed.To be honest,the book had lost me from the very first pages,when at page three a vibrator is mentioned,but as i said,i expected something else and so i actually finished reading it,something i'm really proud of to be honest!
Witch Fire just wasn't the book for me.If what you want to read is only an indeed well written romance with no focus in any elements of the plot then you might enjoy this book immensely.I, on the other hand want something more in my books,so i couldn't really like it.

My first Anya Bast book and wont' be my last.
I love Finding and reading New Books!! And this one was AMAZING Every thing I Loved!!
Mira has just gotten out of a crap marriage and and icky divorce... Then Along come Mr Jack McAllister
looking like Sin(Mira's Words) and Mira's World get turned up side down every thing she believed comes crashing down around her.Mira finds out she is a Witch and her element is Air!! And the bad guys are after her cos she is one of the Most powerful Air Witches :D and Of course Jack has been ordered to watch and protect Mira, He Is a very powerful Fire Element Witch!! and Air and Fire together is SMOKING!!!
Jack Is to protect her and along the way he finds him self very very attracted to Mira!!
I Loved every thing about this, Humor,Action, Romance the Sex was AMAZING!!!! the Plot was awesome and to read about Mira transform into an AMAZING Strong Air Witch was Awesome!!Just reading about these two characters was amazing on its on, in my opinion :)Along the Way these too find them selves fall hard!

I Loved every thing about this, Humor,Action, Romance the Sex was AMAZING!!!! the Plot was awesome and to read about Mira transform into an AMAZING Strong Air Witch was Awesome!!Just reading about these two characters was amazing on its on, in my opinion :)Along the Way these too find them selves fall hard!

I'm going all Star Search and giving this book "4 and a quarter stars", because this is my review and I can do what I want.
Great little paranormal romance. Short; only 278 pages. And very steamy. With a capital S. But there was also a good story. Simple but interesting world building, just the way I like it. And no one wore leather pants. I highly recommend this book to fans of the genre. I have the next two books of the series safely tucked away in my little book cabinet and will be reading them at the first opportunity.

If this book had a theme tune, it would be this.
It should be quite clear by now exactly what type of book I've been reading. It might have a bit of paranormal window-dressing for those who like to pretend they're not reading a sex book, but it's smut nonetheless. As such it sort of worked, in places, but mostly had me wondering if I couldn't give up this life of drudgery and succeed as a smutty writer instead.
Mira was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar sorry, diner (damn my musical tourettes) when she first set eyes on Jack. Brought up by her godmother following the deaths of her parents, Mira is (unbeknownst to her) the child of two powerful witches who were sacrificed in order to call up a demon by a warlock, Crane. Jack witnessed their deaths as a child (what with his Dad being said warlock) and has felt responsible ever since. Estranged from his father, Jack's assigned as Mira's bodyguard by her parents' Coven in order to defend her from Crane (who wants her dead on account of her being an air witch. The habit of referring to witches by their elements kept making me giggle, as I kept imagining an air witch and a fire witch sitting around eating a sandwich).
The first half of the book was virtually a two-hander as Jack takes Mira to his apartment for safe-keeping where they hang out, and Mira first exposes herself as a dumbass. Firstly, she's apparently very empathic and can easily sense the needs and emotions of those around her. Despite this, and despite the fact that Jack tells her, numerous times, how much he wants her, she spends most of her time wondering if she repulses him. Secondly, after hearing that the leader of her parents' Coven shares her mother's maiden name, she's still somehow shocked when - surprise! - it turns out they're related. These weren't the only examples of spectacular slowness on her part.
Thankfully, this is only dragged out for so long and they're soon at it like the world is powered by genital friction. I must admit that the first time Jack and Mira got it on I wasn't entirely tingle-free...however, there are only so many times that you can read about someone doing, essentially, the same routine over and over before you get a bit bored.

Step 2: Twiddle her nipples like an amateur radio enthusiast scanning frequencies
Step 3: See theme tune
Step 4: Head south for a short spell

In between humping sessions, Jack continues to 'train' Mira in magick (that k really bugs me for some reason). He seems to think that groping is training.
Luckily, it doesn't really matter how strange his teaching methods are as Mira is one of those heroines, and after about half an hour of training is easily far more powerful than most of the people who've lived in this world forever (one of my pet peeves in this genre, along with overuse of the words "cream" and "panties". Just once I'd like to read of someone taking off their knickers instead).
If you're looking for something that won't tax too much you could do a lot worse, but right now I can't imagine coming back to the series for more. If I ever do, I'll have to make sure my thinking cap is missing.

Horribly written pornography
The "story" was just a carrier (and a badly written one, at that) for porn scenes. No, not sex scenes - this is right up there with the rest of the pornography in the back of the porn store. More violence against women as "sexy" ---- "oh, please tie me up so I can't protect myself and take your wicked ways with me, oh, my!!" Did all of these idiot authors decide that they will write just anything, any desecration against women, just to get the shock value out there? What happens when men (again - let's read a little history, ladies) decide that what we really want is to be tied up and raped, beaten and denigrated, and they take away our protections against it - make it accepted to drag a woman into an alley, tie her up, and beat her until she is unconscious, then rape her to death? I thought we were past all that disgusting nonsense??? Or have women truly lost their ever-loving freaking minds, and really think that being tied up is ok? That domination in bed with whips, chains and ropes is acceptable? Oh, and before any of you go off on the dominance crap being ok "when it is done with love" - it's a illness, ladies. A twisted sickness that makes it ok for one person to hurt and denigrate another. I am all for play - but play twisted around a core of dominance and pain need it's head examined. OK, maybe all of you were sexually assaulted as children, and have gravitated to being demeaned as being the only way you think you can be loved. Believe me, been there, done that, had the t-shirt ripped right off my back and used for cuffs. You DON'T have to put up with it - believe me. Get some help.
This piece of poorly written trash is definately yet another example of the "Shades of Gray" sickness that is overwhelming publishing at this point in time. Horrible writing as a vehicle for shock-jock style porn.
It is about time those of us with some sense of intelligence and a genuine care for the safety and well being of our sisters, daughters, and friends stop putting up with this kind of sick and twisted behavior being counted as acceptable. If you stop reading it, they will stop writing it - the publishers don't publish what doesn't sell. What is really sad is that this got published in the first place. The writing sucks the chrome off a bumper....

My first Anya Bast book and wont' be my last. Was QUITE suprised w/ this book and my first to deal w/ "witches".
Mira is an Air Witch which is rare in the "witch world" and also the most powerful of the elements, but she has NO idea she's a witch. Her parents were killed when she was a toddler and was raised by a godmother who was loyal to her parents and kept her witchy side a complete secret from her. Now, the warlocks (witches who went bad) want her and her powers. The coven sends a protector, Jack, to protect and help her understand her powers and how to use them.
Jack is a fire witch (which complements the air witch) who has a dark past and IS connected to Mira but can't tell her for fear she will hate him forever. First he has to convince her she's a witch because she doesn't believe in magic, then he has to train her and at the same time RESIST her because he's attracted to her like no other.......
The chemistry and sex in this book is INSANE! Hot and steamy and plentiful but doesn't take away from the story. A bit of bondage but not much and is pretty vanilla as far as bdsm goes.
A great storyline, hot sex scenes, wonderful writing all adds up to a great start to a series. Can't wait to read the rest...........

It's like this book was broken up into two parts written by two different people.
Part 1: Give me sex, sex, and more sex without any sort of emotional relationship to enhance it - which apparently I need in order to enjoy it. Also very little happened in the first half of the book. I almost gave up on the book.
Part 2: Wonderful development of the relationship between Jack & Mira. The small handful of sex scenes in the last half of the book were HOT instead of simply lusty because of the relationship they had formed. There was also MUCH more plot development and action in the 2nd half.
If the entire story had read like the last part I would've loved this book. As it is I am going to rate it 3 stars - generous considering I almost stopped reading the book. I will read the next book but it's not on my short-list for now (hmm... that sounds like a good idea for a bookshelf). We'll see how the series continues.

An alright read. It dragged a bit near the middle but it's not too long so didn't get that boring. The build up and sex scenes were done well.

I absolutely love this story! There is so much passion, heartache, danger & lots of magic! The attraction between Mira & Jack is so intense, so beware because there is quite a bit of sex. But what a fantastic story about such a love they have for each other & how far Jack will go to protect Mira and keep her safe. There are some evil characters in this story that will do anything to get Mira, but that won't be easy with Jack protecting her. What a man! Every page is so exciting and entertaining - you will find it very difficult to stop reading until you're finished! It's a fantastic & magical story you will love reading.

I had a hard time with the pace of the book. It wasn't awful - but I felt like the "parts" weren't really balanced correctly and that the end was a little rushed and unsatisfying in some ways. That aside I enjoyed the book very much. I like the main character Mira for the most part (although you would think having grown up Wiccan she would be a little more open to Magick than she was) and I really liked her manhunk Jack. The story was enjoyable and I had a hard time stopping at an end of a chapter and walking away.

This book started out very promising but eventually fell flat. The plot was nonexistent in comparison to the almost constant sexual interactions between the two main characters. A good romance has to have a balance between the plot and the love affair. Sex, sex and then more sex can easily kill the whole book. The few action scenes were a couple pages compared to the constant and of course mind blowing sex between these two extremely hot people. The writing was not bad but I like more story with my romance.

The main characters were well written and endearing, but the secondary characters could have used a bit more development, especially the bud guys. Overall though, it was a fun, quick read, and fairly imaginitive.

The story line was not unique but I still enjoyed it. Unfortunately the plot was slowed down immensely by the excessive amount of sex scenes. Rabbits would be envious of how often Jack and Mira mated. If I sound jealous .... it's because I am.

เริ่มจากหนังสือของเธอที่ถูกวางตอนแรกให้ออกขายในเดือนสิงหาคม 2007 ถูกเลื่อนมาเป็นมวยแทนนักเขียนนิสัยน่าเบื่อหน่ายอย่างลิซ่า วัลเดซที่โดนโรคเลื่อนเล่นงานอีก (ข่าวว่าหล่อนดังเกิดเหตุ ก็เลยเกิดอาการเกร็งเขียนหนังสือไม่ออก เรื่อง Patience ก็เลยเขียนไม่เสร็จสักที) ทำให้หนังสือเรื่อง Witch Fire ของอันย่าโดนแจ๊คพ็อตออกเร็วขึ้น ชนิดคนซื้อยังไม่ได้ตั้งตัวเลย เพราะไม่นึกว่าหนังสือจะออกเร็วเกินกำหนดอย่างนี้
ซึ่งคงเป็นข้อเสียนะ เพราะไม่เห็นคนพูดถึงเรื่องนี้เท่าไหรเลย ทั้งที่ก็ไม่น่าเกลียดนะ ถือว่าสนุกใช้ได้ทีเดียว

ก่อนจะเล่าเรื่องย่อคงต้องอธิบายโลกของนิยายในเรื่องก่อนนะ เพราะนี่ก็เป็นหนังสืออีกเล่มที่เป็นแนวพารานอมอลซึ่งฮิตกันเหลือเกินช่วง นี้
Witch Fire ก็เหมือนชื่อเรื่องเป็นเรื่องในโลกแห่งเวทมนตร์ที่มีพ่อมดแม่มดอยู่จริง ในโลกของหนังสือเล่มนี้ผู้มีพลังวิเศษจะถูกแบ่งออกเป็นสี่ธาตุคือ ดิน น้ำ ลม และไฟ ฝ่ายธรรมะถูกเรียกว่า Witch ส่วนอธรรมก็คือ Warlock ซึ่งถ้าแปลตามคนไทยคุ้นกันก็คงจะงงดีนะ เพราะทั้งสองคำนี้ใช้ในการแบ่งเพศของพ่อมดแม่มดมากกว่า แต่ในเรื่องไม่ว่าจะเป็นชายหรือหญิง อยู่ที่ฝ่ายที่คุณสังกัด ถ้าเป็นฝ่ายตัวดีก็เป็นวิช ถ้าเป็นตัวเลวก็เป็นวอร์ล็อค
และก็เหมือนทุกเรื่องที่แม็กซ์ชักจะตกหลุมเสน่ห์ของฝ่ายตัวเลวแล้วล่ะสิ ซึ่งนั่นจะพูดต่อไป
เรื่องย่อก็เริ่มต้นเมื่อแม่มดแห่งลมที่ไม่รู้ตัวสักนิดว่าตัวเองเป็นผู้มี พลังเหนือธรรมชาติอย่างมีอา ถูกดึงเข้าไปยุ่งเกี่ยวกับโลกที่ไม่คุ้นเคยแห่งนี้ เพราะเธอกลายเป็นเป้าหมายของพวกวอร์ล็อคที่ต้องการเอาตัวเธอไปฆ่าเพื่อ สังเวยในการปลุกปีศาจให้ตื่นขึ้น เมื่อยี่สิบกว่าปีก่อนพ่อและแม่ของเธอก็ถูกฆ่าเพื่อสังเวยไปแล้ว และตอนนี้ก็ถึงคิวของเธอ

แต่นั่นก็ยังไม่มากพอให้เขาเก็บไม้เก็บมือให้ห่างจากมีอา ก็นี่เป็นผลงานของนักเขียนแนวอีโรติกโรแมนซ์นี่ ถ้าไม่มีเซ็กส์คนอ่านคงผิดหวังกันแย่เลย และนี่เป็นส่วนที่ดีของเรื่อง เพราะอย่างน้อยเรื่องนี้ก็เกือบร้อยหน้าแนะกว่าพระเอกกะนางเอกจะ... กันได้ ซึ่งถือว่าอยู่ในมาตรฐานที่ดีแล้วล่ะสำหรับนักเขียนในแนวเดียวกัน
แม็กซ์ชอบเรื่องนี้นะคะ นอกจากความโง่เกินเหตุไปหน่อยของนางเอกตอนท้ายเรื่องก็ถือว่าไม่มีอะไรน่า รำคาญนัก (แต่สำหรับบางคนที่ภูมิต้านทานความรำคาญต่ำ ก็ไม่แน่ล่ะค่ะ) พระเอกและนางเอกถือว่าเป็นไปตามสูตร ของหญิงสาวที่ผิดหวังในความรักมาก่อน และพระเอกที่เย็นชาต่อโลกจนกระทั่งได้พบกับนางเอก แม็กซ์ชอบแจ๊คไม่ยอมรามือง่าย ๆ เมื่อถูกมีอาตอบปฏิเสธ ชอบตอนที่เขาบอกกับเธอว่า เธอเป็นสิ่งที่ดีที่สุดในชีวิตของเขา และไม่มีวันที่เขาจะปล่อยให้เธอหลุดมือไปได้ง่าย ๆ
ที่สำคัญที่สุด แม็กซ์ชอบตัวละครรองในเรื่อง ทั้งฝ่ายดี และแน่นอนฝ่ายเลว
โธมัส โมนาแฮน (ชอบนามสกุลนี้มาก ไม่ใครอยากให้ยืมใช้ไหมเนี่ย) เป็นญาติทางแม่ของนางเอก และเห็นหัวหน้ากลุ่มฝ่ายดี เขาเป็นพ่อมดแห่งดิน ซึ่งคาดว่า น่าจะเป็นพระเอกในเล่มต่อไปที่จะออกปีหน้า
และสเตฟาน นามสกุลอ่านไม่ออก ที่เป็นทายาทของฝ่ายเลว แล้วก็เลวสมใจในเรื่อง เพียงแต่หลายวูบแม็กซ์รู้สึกเหมือนเขาน่าจะมีโอกาสมาเป็นพระเอกนะ ไม่รู้ว่าเข้าข้างตัวเองหรือเปล่า หรือว่ายีนชอบผู้ร้ายกลับใจเข้าสิง แต่แม็กซ์คิดว่าเขาน่าจะมีโอกาสมาเป็นพระเอกในเล่มถัดถัดไปนะ แต่ถ้าไม่ใช่ล่ะก็ เขาก็น่าจะเป็นผู้ร้ายใหญ่ที่สุดในชุดเลยล่ะ
สรุปผลว่าอยู่ที่ 73 ค่ะ และคาดว่าคงจะติดตามอ่านเรื่องชุดนี้ต่อไปแน่นอน
หลังจากนักเขียนที่ฝีมือห่วยกว่าเธอได้รับสัญญาออกหนังสือเป็นพรินต์บุ๊คกัน หลายคน ในที่สุดก็ถึงคราวของอันย่า แบสบ้าง แม้ว่าจังหวะจะดูไม่เหมาะนัก
เริ่มจากหนังสือของเธอที่ถูกวางตอนแรกให้ออกขายในเดือนสิงหาคม 2007 ถูกเลื่อนมาเป็นมวยแทนนักเขียนนิสัยน่าเบื่อหน่ายอย่างลิซ่า วัลเดซที่โดนโรคเลื่อนเล่นงานอีก (ข่าวว่าหล่อนดังเกิดเหตุ ก็เลยเกิดอาการเกร็งเขียนหนังสือไม่ออก เรื่อง Patience ก็เลยเขียนไม่เสร็จสักที) ทำให้หนังสือเรื่อง Witch Fire ของอันย่าโดนแจ๊คพ็อตออกเร็วขึ้น ชนิดคนซื้อยังไม่ได้ตั้งตัวเลย เพราะไม่นึกว่าหนังสือจะออกเร็วเกินกำหนดอย่างนี้
ซึ่งคงเป็นข้อเสียนะ เพราะไม่เห็นคนพูดถึงเรื่องนี้เท่าไหรเลย ทั้งที่ก็ไม่น่าเกลียดนะ ถือว่าสนุกใช้ได้ทีเดียว
เช่นเดียวกับงานในรูปแบบอีบุ๊คของเธอ Witch Fire ไม่ถึงกับสนุกมากจนขนาดต้องเอาไปเพ้อให้เพื่อนฟัง แต่ก็อ่านได้สนุกดี
ก่อนจะเล่าเรื่องย่อคงต้องอธิบายโลกของนิยายในเรื่องก่อนนะ เพราะนี่ก็เป็นหนังสืออีกเล่มที่เป็นแนวพารานอมอลซึ่งฮิตกันเหลือเกินช่วง นี้
Witch Fire ก็เหมือนชื่อเรื่องเป็นเรื่องในโลกแห่งเวทมนตร์ที่มีพ่อมดแม่มดอยู่จริง ในโลกของหนังสือเล่มนี้ผู้มีพลังวิเศษจะถูกแบ่งออกเป็นสี่ธาตุคือ ดิน น้ำ ลม และไฟ ฝ่ายธรรมะถูกเรียกว่า Witch ส่วนอธรรมก็คือ Warlock ซึ่งถ้าแปลตามคนไทยคุ้นกันก็คงจะงงดีนะ เพราะทั้งสองคำนี้ใช้ในการแบ่งเพศของพ่อมดแม่มดมากกว่า แต่ในเรื่องไม่ว่าจะเป็นชายหรือหญิง อยู่ที่ฝ่ายที่คุณสังกัด ถ้าเป็นฝ่ายตัวดีก็เป็นวิช ถ้าเป็นตัวเลวก็เป็นวอร์ล็อค
และก็เหมือนทุกเรื่องที่แม็กซ์ชักจะตกหลุมเสน่ห์ของฝ่ายตัวเลวแล้วล่ะสิ ซึ่งนั่นจะพูดต่อไป
เรื่องย่อก็เริ่มต้นเมื่อแม่มดแห่งลมที่ไม่รู้ตัวสักนิดว่าตัวเองเป็นผู้มี พลังเหนือธรรมชาติอย่างมีอา ถูกดึงเข้าไปยุ่งเกี่ยวกับโลกที่ไม่คุ้นเคยแห่งนี้ เพราะเธอกลายเป็นเป้าหมายของพวกวอร์ล็อคที่ต้องการเอาตัวเธอไปฆ่าเพื่อ สังเวยในการปลุกปีศาจให้ตื่นขึ้น เมื่อยี่สิบกว่าปีก่อนพ่อและแม่ของเธอก็ถูกฆ่าเพื่อสังเวยไปแล้ว และตอนนี้ก็ถึงคิวของเธอ
และเหมือนทุกเรื่องพระเอกของเราแจ๊คก็ถูกส่งมาคุ้มครองนางเอก แต่สิ่งที่มีอาไม่รู้ก็คืออดีตอันดำมืด (อีกแล้ว)ของเขา เพราะแจ๊คเป็นคนที่อยู่ในพิธีที่คร่าชีวิตแม่ของเธอ เขาเป็นเด็กชายอายุสิบปีที่ถูกพ่อของเขาบังคับให้ร่วมพิธีชั่วร้ายนั้น หลังจากนั้นความรู้สึกผิดก็ตามติดเขาไปทุกที
แต่นั่นก็ยังไม่มากพอให้เขาเก็บไม้เก็บมือให้ห่างจากมีอา ก็นี่เป็นผลงานของนักเขียนแนวอีโรติกโรแมนซ์นี่ ถ้าไม่มีเซ็กส์คนอ่านคงผิดหวังกันแย่เลย และนี่เป็นส่วนที่ดีของเรื่อง เพราะอย่างน้อยเรื่องนี้ก็เกือบร้อยหน้าแนะกว่าพระเอกกะนางเอกจะ... กันได้ ซึ่งถือว่าอยู่ในมาตรฐานที่ดีแล้วล่ะสำหรับนักเขียนในแนวเดียวกัน
แม็กซ์ชอบเรื่องนี้นะคะ นอกจากความโง่เกินเหตุไปหน่อยของนางเอกตอนท้ายเรื่องก็ถือว่าไม่มีอะไรน่า รำคาญนัก (แต่สำหรับบางคนที่ภูมิต้านทานความรำคาญต่ำ ก็ไม่แน่ล่ะค่ะ) พระเอกและนางเอกถือว่าเป็นไปตามสูตร ของหญิงสาวที่ผิดหวังในความรักมาก่อน และพระเอกที่เย็นชาต่อโลกจนกระทั่งได้พบกับนางเอก แม็กซ์ชอบแจ๊คไม่ยอมรามือง่าย ๆ เมื่อถูกมีอาตอบปฏิเสธ ชอบตอนที่เขาบอกกับเธอว่า เธอเป็นสิ่งที่ดีที่สุดในชีวิตของเขา และไม่มีวันที่เขาจะปล่อยให้เธอหลุดมือไปได้ง่าย ๆ
ที่สำคัญที่สุด แม็กซ์ชอบตัวละครรองในเรื่อง ทั้งฝ่ายดี และแน่นอนฝ่ายเลว
โธมัส โมนาแฮน (ชอบนามสกุลนี้มาก ไม่ใครอยากให้ยืมใช้ไหมเนี่ย) เป็นญาติทางแม่ของนางเอก และเห็นหัวหน้ากลุ่มฝ่ายดี เขาเป็นพ่อมดแห่งดิน ซึ่งคาดว่า น่าจะเป็นพระเอกในเล่มต่อไปที่จะออกปีหน้า

antes del libro (hace 5 años)
yo leí esta sinopsis cuando la autora solo habia publicado dos y pensé bueno. solo dos . no me voy a tener que esperar años. me gustaba realmente. quiero decir eso de brujas elementales es algo que no he leido en ese tiempo, ni ahora. asi que siempre lo he tenido en consideración.
durante el libro
hace dos años empecé a leerlo una noche. digamos que sólo llegue por el 25 % porque no le estaba encontrando la magia . y con la magia me refiero a fuego , aire , tierra , lo que seaaaaaaaa. pensé me he equivocado ¿acaso esto es YA? .
ayer dije cierto , esta saga la tengo olvidada. y como 2017 ES EL AÑO DE PERDONES Y SEGUNDAS OPORTUNIDADES pues le dije vamos!!!
volvi a releer algunas cosas del inicio y segui avanzando.
la autora escribe bien , tiene estilo pero el 75 % del libro era insinuaciones , escenas de sexo, sueños húmedos.
la historia es que Mira , una divorciada trabaja en una cafeteria como mesera. ella no terminó la universidad porque su novio dijo yo me graduo de abogado , te mantengo , tenemos hijos y felices. pues resulta que la engañó y ahora no confia en los hombres. esta chica conoce un hombre interesante en su trabajo que luego la secuestra para protegerla porque otro grupo la quiere atrapar.ya que ella es una bruja de aire.
hasta ahi suena INTERESANTE. pero de ahi lo unico que sucede es la atraccion sexual. todo el tiempo. pasan hojas , hojas , y hojas que solo es de eso. luego ya se consume su amor como 25 veces . estan distraidos y los quieren atrapar.
los personajes secundarios no son memorables , el villano no es memorable. ni Jack QUE ES SUPER ATRACTIVO me parece decente. siento que me faltó explorar mas cosas mas que su vida sexual .
no sé si vaya a seguir esta saga porque el libro es larga y tiene muchas hojas llenas de relleno. me gustaria decir que si lo hubiera leido hace años me hubiera gustado pero temo que no. porque llevó años intentando leerlo y no ha funcionado.
