Restricted Nations: North Korea

Rate this book
Those inside North Korea are forced to worship their government leader as a god. While many in the country suffer in darkness under a cruel regime, a small light is burning. That light is the piercing light of Jesus Christ's message of hope. A few North Korean believers are brave enough to return to the nation that once imprisoned them to share the gospel message with those inside dying. Learn the story of the suffering church in North Korea. These testimonies of steadfast saints will give you the strength to live boldly for Christ. You will see how people in North Korea live and will be ready to pray on their behalf. This is the second book in the Voice of the Martyrs Restricted Nations series. The first was Restricted China. Other overviews of Christianity and persecution will follow.

The Voice of the Martyrs

The Voice of the Martyrs is a non-profit, inter-denominational Christian organization dedicated to assisting the persecuted church worldwide. VOM was founded in 1967 by Pastor Richard Wurmbrand, who was imprisoned 14 years in Communist Romania for his faith in Christ. His wife, Sabina, was imprisoned for three years. In the 1960s, Richard, Sabina, and their son, Mihai, were ransomed out of Romania and came to the United States. Through their travels, the Wurmbrands spread the message of the atrocities that Christians face in restricted nations, while establishing a network of offices dedicated to assisting the persecuted church. The Voice of the Martyrs continues in this mission around the world today through the following main purposes:
Our ministry is based on Hebrews 13:3:
"Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body."

It was very much and eye opener into the history of North Korea. I did not realize sheltered as i am al the traumas that the Koreans have and are living even today. It made me appreciate Kum Song and Ann my two Korean friends even more.

Great little book! Stories about what is going on in North Korea and the persecution of Christians. We need to see what is happening to Christians in other countries.

Heart-breaking, but eye-opening. So sad to see what has happened there, but hopeful to see how the Christians have persevered there.

This excellent little book from Voice of the Martyrs tells the inspiring and very often tragic history of followers of Jesus in Korea (since the 9th century AD) and, specifically, North Korea (since the end of WW2).
The brutal government of NK has persecuted and executed hundreds of thousands of Christians in an unsuccessful effort to eradicate the gospel.
This book tells broad history and individual stories.
I’m moved to prayer.

I really want to recommend this series of books to other Christian readers. In this day and age of Christian apathy, I honestly do not think we realize HOW MUCH we take for granted in our religious freedom. What are we doing with it? Better get doing something with it! Better keep on for Christ while we can!!!
