Nicole is so proud to be starting at Silver Spires boarding school, but she can't help worrying that her new friends will realize that she doesn't really fit in. After all, they have expensive clothes and amazing holiday homes, while she couldn't even afford to come to the school without her scholarship. And now there's an ultra-glam welcome party and she doesn't have anything to wear...How is she ever going to look the part, and stop her friends from discovering the truth?
An author of series fiction for young readers, Ann Bryant was educated at the Royal College of Music, and worked for a number of years as a music teacher. She has also written for various BBC Schools Radio programmes, and composed the theme and incidental music for BBC TV's Tales of Aesop series.
I understand why I loved this series when I was younger, but reading it after 10+ plus years, it was definitely not the vibe. It put me to sleep several times because it was so slow moving.
Also, the author trying to write in an Italian accent annoyed me. She'd use words like "feet" for "fit", "ees" for "is"... bruh.
Younger me would've given this 4 or 5 stars. 23 year old me would rate this 2½ stars at most.
