The Hutchinson Treasury of Children’s Poetry has a range of poems for older and younger children: such as nursery rhymes and rhyming poems for younger children and more advanced for older children. From the different sections of the poetry for younger and older children, I love “doin’ The pig’ by Michael Rosen and The Walrus and the Carpenter by Lewis Carroll. These are both different and they introduce to the children how poetry can be different, such as a narrative and short poem.

Out of all the books in my children's bedroom this is a firm favourite with my youngest (9 years) eight months after Santa brought it. It's outlasted fairies, ponies and dinosaur book sets. I highly recommend it for a well balanced, all ages poetry collection. It's not everywhere you see TS Eliot sharing a hardback with Michael Rosen.
