This ended up being ok/decent sci-fi story. Our planet and another in some other galaxy, linked by a portal hidden in the bottom of the ocean. In this volume we learn why our planet ended up being contaminated. Pretty jacked up. We also learn of a resistance force on the alien planet, a character thought dead returns and we get a solution to save our planet. Solid artwork. The is will probably not make anybody’s top ten list but it was solid.

Postapokalyptischer Schauplatz. Verrückte Sekten. Verschwörungen. Undurchsichtige Regierungsorganisationen. Verzweifelte Missionen zur Rettung der Menschheit auf Leben und Tod. Lovecraftsche Ungeheuer.

a satisfying conclusion! and yet i still feel a little confused as to what the point was. these two volumes made for an easy, quick read and feel pretty standard fare for future earth / ocean / space / alien sci-fi. the fast plot, gorgeous illustrations, and vibrant colors are definitely this book's strengths, its weakness being the lack of any character development at all. the plot really hinges on uncovering the answers to the mystery of what's going on with the portal and how the earth colony leaders are involved, and once the mystery is uncovered, the book wraps up pretty quickly and i couldn't bring myself to care much for what actually happened to the characters. there was also a bit of skipping around with "now"/"then" timelines that didn't read smoothly. overall, fun for what it is!

Conclusion of the series. To its credit, it answers most of the questions it raised, though the denouement was largely done in montage. There is a consistent through line to the story. While I would have appreciated the explanation to have taken place earlier in the book from a dramatic narrative perspective, it's at least conceptually sound as a science-fiction story.

The best parts were the fun imagery and science fiction visuals, like the main character's brain being momentarily 'translated' into space.

Lot of fun concepts but so many that none of them get the attention they deserve. I prefer a more spare, focused narrative that picks a single sci-fi premise to explore.

Interesting but confusing comic series - still enjoyable.

It's been a while since i read Volume 1 and I must confess that I don't remember it. This is probably what leads to my confusion over the plot and which character is which. Nevertheless I enjoyed the story and the illustrations and certainly got to understand most of what was going on in this post-apocalyptic world of ours with added aliens. It's nicely produced and I can still recommend it but I'd advise reading Volume 1 first. "I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was fine. The finale of the series. It never really grasped me or my attention. There was nothing important or exciting to hold my interest. It just sort of felt like slop. A story just to be a story. Not to be entertaining. There were a couple bits that were neat. But overall it was just there. Not one I would recommend.

Second volume doesn't make things any clearer. I violated my own rule about not keeping on a series if I don't like it after an arc.

Like the first volume, there's good stuff here, but there are also a lot of moving parts, and somewhere in the jumble, I just never connected with the story or characters.
