I bought this soon after finishing Lon Milo Duquette's Understanding Aleister Crowley's Thoth Tarot. A Wonderful Book at breaking the symbolism of the cards down into easily digested bites, he doesn't cover divining with the cards as thoroughly as i was interested in. He lets Crowelye's own writing on divining with the cards speak for itself, as i thin the divining was not meant to be the actual focus of that book.
This book, does an excellent job of filling in the differences. Each card has its own page, with the symbolism broken down into meaning charts, and then Meaning suggestions for the cards in different types of spreads.
It has nifty little picture index spots on the open side of the pages for quick thumb throughs. It contains several spreads of its own, and as the authors are European, the spreads they choose are exotic to me. They also have a method for adding up the numbers on all the cards in a spread and calculating the spreads "Quintessence" Fascinating!
This Book is well thumbed and underlined in, the mark of a well loved book in my world.
If you are reading Thoth or Thoth clones, I would highly reccomend this book and Lon MiloDuquette's book.

It is doubtful that the beginning readers of Aliester Crowley's Book of Thoth will understand the work to any degree of sufficient understanding upon the first reading, or the tenth, or perhaps even the hundredth. I daresay that there may be some who have read it much more than that while still remaining completely clueless as to the author, it's meaning, or more importantly...themselves.

Grateful I was that there was someone to recommend Hajo Banzhaf's and Brigitte Theler's excellent companion guide to the Great Magus' work.

Having been a Tarot Reader now for 15 years myself, I still find this book to be a valuable reference. It gives a number of very useful Tarot spreads, and breaks down each card in terms of prominent symbology, as well as useful interpretations along several common lines of human query.

If one is determined to get down to the business of READING the cards, rather than STUDYING the system, this is the book to help you get started with the confidence you need, until that is essentially replaced by the confidence in YOUR OWN ABILITIES.

Ultimately, YOU are the ultimate companion guide to the Tarot, as any wise reader would be apt to point out to you along the way. As the DIGNITY of your own Soul is raised in conversation with The Holy Guardian Angel, there is no question to which you may not seek out the appropriate answer for the proper working of your destiny.

Thanks and kudos to you both, Hajo and Brigitte!

I’m not new to tarot but I’m new to the Thoth deck. This was such a good book. Good information and well set up. I got this book as an ebook and they made it so easy to navigate.

The book deals with different approaches that the tarot adopts and that the tarot is a random oracle of coincidences. Also comparing Waite and other decks, how to ask questions and shuffle. The highlights of the book were a couple of things. One was quintessence, this is where you would add up all the numbers of all of the cards and get an overall interpretation of the reading. I also liked the spreads that were included, given clear examples of when that particular spreads would be good to use. The interpretations where clear and had nuances depending on the question that was asked. Each card had chart of the symbols that are on the card and goes into some symbolism. Great information.

This book was so well organized for a ebook. Chapters that had the layouts they index the spreads in the table of contents. They did the same for the meanings of the cards so I don’t have to right swipe through the whole chapter to look at the meanings for two of cups. The chart all had a expand arrow so I saw the whole chart on one page for that reason I gave this book 5 out of 5

This book is a very good guide. I like the way it is written - all possible meanings of every single detail in sort of scheme. With other books I would feel sometimes that their explanation does not fit my reading. This book does not "dictate" you the exact meaning. Instead it gives you variety of meanings and in case if it doesn't work for you, you can always combine your own interpretation out of explanation of details that mister Crowley and lady Harris put in each image. I feel that it gives me more freedom to interpret the way I feel.

i really like this book, not only the content but how it is set up. let me start with the downside, the intro is dense...very dense a little too "new agey". however given the complexity of the Thoth, deal with those two down sides this book is well worth it! it's set up to make understanding the Thoth clearer to even beginners. if you have even the slightest interest in the Thoth, this is one of the two top books i've found for it.
