Essential reading for vegetarians and meat lovers alike. Please buy this book if you want inspiration to cook something beyond the easy cheese dishes much loved by the majority of vegetarian cookbooks. I have cooked more variety of dishes since I bought this than I have in the 20+ years since I opted for less meat in my diet. I have never gone the whole hog with vegetarianism for whatever reason, but this book would make it easy to do so. I wish that I had come across a book like it years ago. One slight grumble though, but probably down to the kindle version, there are a few typos and errors in the text, but they are easy to spot and sort out. I have come across this with other Kindle Books as well so I'm hoping it's something that a good proof reader can sort out.

No Index?????

I was so excited to find a comprehensive vegetable cookbook as my goal is to try and eat more vegetarian meals. I can't even tell you if this book is any good because it's impossible to navigate. There's no recipe index so if you want a recipe inspiration for asparagus (for example) you literally have to go through every chapter to try and find a recipe with that vegetable. First time my life I've gotten a cookbook (and I have over 200) that has no ingredient or recipe index. Have to say this book is absolute rubbish.

I can't pretend I've read this - it's a cookery book, not a novel. But I've only had it a week and have made 4 things from it and they all worked.

And it's got an index.

Rose Elliot is famous for her vegetarian cookbooks.
I didn't know it before until I finished reading this book and read the reviews. At first I had a low expectation in it, since it hardly has pictures in it.
But the further I read it, the more I realize what makes this book a great one. The recipes and ingredients are simple, yet interesting and I already imagine myself cooking them.

This is probably the Bible of vegetarian cooking!

I am normally not very inspired by cookbooks by British authors. But this one seems great! I am super bummed though because I can't find any of the recipes online & I need to return it to the library....sucko!
