I've never read a book like this. It's a series of articles/essays. It’s full of rich vocabulary and breadth of references that had me constantly googling (words, artists, paintings, art museums, writers, poets, poems and more ). I finished knowing that I had been truly given an insight into the author's world. This book had idled on the shelves of my homeplace (also on the shores of Lough Neagh) for many years and I, for no good reason, hadn't read it until now. I enjoyed the familiarity of the home stories alongside the diversity of the other pieces. An enriching and very enjoyable read. Highly recommend.
