The second book in an exciting and inspiring new series from national bestselling author ReShonda Tate Billingsley

They share a precious gift. . . .

Joining Rachel Jackson's church youth group has been a lifesaver for Camille, Alexis, Jasmine, and Angel. The fabulous four share everything from juicy gossip to mentoring school kids. But their loyalty is put to the test when two of the girls get caught up in problems of their own -- and may drag their girlfriends down with them.

Will they forget who their friends are?

Wealthy Alexis seems to have the perfect life -- but no one can see her fear as her parents head for divorce. Meanwhile, Jasmine is tired of being the glue that holds her mother and siblings together, and she escapes by moving in with her father. Both girls are tempted to do something drastic to get the attention they crave, and both need to hear Rachel's hard-won advice on why stealing will only get them more trouble. But when it comes to winning back Camille and Angel's trust, Alexis and Jasmine will have to find the answers in their own hearts.

Back in January I discovered this awesome series , though unfortunately -the library had to have it out of order but that didn't matter too much as I was able to catch up on everything. Blessings in Disguise is the 2nd book in the series of Good Girlz - which is a youyh group run by Rachel Jackson. For four of the girls - Camille, Angel , Alexis and Jasmine belonging to Rachel's group has been a lifesaver for them. However as new faces appear and old ones from the past re-appear, the four girls will soon get their loyalty for each other tested. Alexis has a re-visit from an old friend who she used to steal with Trina , when Trina comes with Alexis and Jasmine to the mall - what will Jasmine's reaction be when she sees Alexis stealing ? Not that Jasmine has too much on her plate already with her family always on her back , failing in school and being poor, Jasmine just yearns for a normal life so when she finds her birth father - will this be the escape she has been longing for or will she realise that back home wasn't really that bad? . Read as Alexis and Jasmine learn that Blessings at the time may not seem around but when you glance closer , Blessings may very well be in disguise. A Fun series for those who enjoy authors like Melody Carlson, Nancy Rue and Robin Jones Gunn.

I really enjoyed this book. I am so glad to finally learn Jasmine’s story. And she truly did need a book to herself. At some point I wondered what was the purpose of the Good Girlz club because these girls seem to stay in trouble.

I applaud their ability to understand right from wrong despite their circumstances. And while their parents are not perfect, they are still typical kids who are learning their place in the world.

I’ve had these first 3 books in this series in my possession for over 10 years and never read them. I’m glad I did.

Block 2

"Blessing In Disguise" written by ReShonda Tate Billingsley, a story about a teenage girl named Jasminium Nichelle Solé Jones, also known as Jasmine throughout the book is the main character of the book. Clueless of who her father is is curious to find out who her father is.She is a girl who isn't usually focused on by guys. Her family always depends on her to clean the up the house regardless of anything which doesn't go the same for her siblings. Jasmine is determined to find her dad in the book and her aunt Teela and friends are willing to help her with whatever they can. Except when things get shifty and turn out not be what she expects it to be.

"Sometimes our blessings are disguised what we don't think is a blessing, is. And what we think is a blessing isn't." -Grandma

Jasmine soon realizes and learns that this a fact because of what happens...
ReShonda Tate Billingsley did a fantastic job writing this piece of text. The set up of the story moved me in a very applying way because Jasmine and her father have been apart for a while which I find it easy relate to so it had an impact on me. Something valuable I learned is not to wish for better because you are blessed with what you've although you may just not know it. I recommend this to anyone so that the message can have an impact on others lives too. "Blessings In Disguise" also shows that what you've got can benefit you in what you really want for yourself more than you just want.
(Mother says she can date at age 16, Donna and Dad say she can date at age 18.)

"But I'm stressing because he wants to go out and, well, you know how my mom is. She said I can't date until I turn sixteen."-Jasmine

"We're not sure about this date thing, period. In this house, young ladies don't don't until they turn eighteen." -Donna

"Blessings in Disguise" deserves a 5 star rating. One reason this book deserves a 5 is because the book was very clear and detailed.

Another page turner from Reshonda Tate Billingsley. Meet Alexis, Trina, Camille, Angel and Jazmine...five girls that have to attend the Girlz Club because of their behaviors. When Trina and Alexis take Jazmine with them to the mall, Jazmine finds out that they are shoplifting. Alexis and Trina can afford anything they want but have their own reasons for shoplifting. They are selling the clothes to the girls they know; their own illegal boutique. Jazmine wants no part in their scheme and verbally tells them until she meets Donovan.

Jazmine wardrobe needs a tuneup and Trina needs a paper written for her English class. Suddenly, Jazmine has a dress for the homecoming dance. She understands that what Alexis and Trina are doing is wrong but as usual, friends don't rat out their friends. Now Donovan has asks her to be his date for the Sports banquet and she needs another dress. Too many "borrowing" activities and they are caught shoplifting and taken to the police station.

In between all of this drama, Jazmine has located her father and thinks she wants to live with him. That's when she understands the quips her grandmother uses. As they say, "Everything that glitters ain't gold." Jazmine has learned the hard way.

Our friends can sometimes be our own worst enemies. As displayed in the story. Friends have your back when you need them and you make decisions that can lead to detrimental proportion. RTB knew what she was writing about and the plot grows through each chapter. The characters can make you relate to people you knew in high school and maybe even some people today. Nice story and a good read.

In Nothing But Drama (Book 1) Camille, Angel, Alexis and Jasmine became friends after joining the Good Girlz Club, and, although the reader learned a bit about each character, the main focus was on Camille. In Book 2 of ReShonda Tate Billingsley's Christian teen series the author introduced another Good Girlz Club member, Trina, who had a habit that got her and other members into trouble, and she touched on Alexis' issues with her parents, however, the main focus was Jasmine's story:
Jasmine's brothers got on her every nerve, she was responsible for most of the cleaning and cooking at home, and she always seemed to end up in situations that reminded her of the fact that she didn't have money. Jasmine hated her life, and she believed that if she could just find the father she'd never known a relationship with him would make everything much better. Jasmine's mother, Jetola, refused to even speak of this man and became highly upset when her daughter brought him up, so there was no way Jasmine was going to convince her to reveal her father's whereabouts. Still, a determined Jasmine found her father, but she also found out that all that glitters isn't gold. That was cool in the end, though, because a lesson learned brought Jasmine closer to her mother.
With only 166 pages this book was a quick read. I really enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to Book 3.
