Life changing. In this day we need to understand what the Father is doing in us and allow the change. Either you are walking in deception or truth. Not both.

I recommend every Christian read this book. This teaching is required to overcome in this world. This lays out what we need to be able to truly become who we are.

One of the best books I have read. Explains what happened in the fall of Adam and Eve and how that effects us better than anything I have heard or read.

If you’ve named the Name of Christ, ever…

… this is a must read.

If you are brand new to walking in faith, calling yourself, a Christian, save yourself a LOT of frustration = read this book. Now. I do not exaggerate when I tell you, regardless where you are attending church - assuming you are - if you are hearing THIS teaching, you are one in a million.

How can I say this so confidently? Because I have been an ACTIVE christian for more than 50 yrs, read the entire Bible cover-to-cover too many times to count, in a variety of translations, done my own in-depth word and cultural studies, sat under some outstanding Bible teachers that made my brain hurt and drove me into even deeper study. I have been in multiple churches, denominations, home studies, and more because of a military step-father requiring multiple moves and married to an electrician requiring more, and other external changes.

I NEVER learned the walk-changing power-prayer-empowering FOUNDATIONAL teaching to LIVE a REAL little-Christ life that this book presents. I have gotten FRINGE teaching that eluded the real message of what it means to BE a believer. That RE-presented Yeshua AS HE WAS AND IS what HE said is true with such a clarion embraceable presentation.

If I had gotten THIS presentation of what it MEANS to be “saved”… and what it does not… as opposed to the misrepresentation too often dogmatically decreed… my ENTIRE life would have been immeasurably different in the best sense of the term.

If you are still referring to yourself as a Christian but know - on any level - you are not living what you KNOW scripture and Yeshua PROMISES, know you are not alone. If you have ever said (or thought in your most private thoughts), “I love God but I am seriously unimpressed with His kids,”… read this book. The sooner the better. If you are - on any level in your most honest moments - basically disgusted or unimpressed with your own walk… I cannot encourage you strongly enough… read this book. You will reread scripture with an entirely new clarity.

This book says nothing that has not always BEEN there. It DOES recalibrate your PERSPECTIVE by dissenting what IS there by SIMPLY teaching what the ACTUAL original language clearly states… that even Bible “scholars and ‘experts’” too often fail to clearly communicate.

If you are really happy with your Christian life and experience, if you do not expect much more than you currently have… I still challenge you to read this book, prayerfully asking Holy Spirit to do as promised, “lead you into all truth.” You may realize there was more INTENDED for His kids. And it has always been right there.

It is both an aggravation and an exquisite blessing.

Take a chance. It is highly unlikely you will be disappointed. My only disappointment is this teaching was not part of my first six months walking in faith. My walk has been fundamentally transformed and I am experiencing fellowship with my Redeemer more every day than I ever have… and that is saying something! The JOY of my salvation has been reset to high.

It is my fervent prayer that this will be your experience as well. The author is humble, transparent, bold, unapologetic, engaging and enjoyable… and has come by his teaching here honestly. Give it a shot. The Audible version is a winner too, btw.

It's no secret that I'm a fan of Dutch Sheets. At this season of my life, I'm getting a lot out of his teachings and this book is no exception. If you're looking for freedom from sins and issues that have taunted you for years, I recommend this book.

I didn't know anything about this book when I picked it up, but for some reason the title appealed to me. In a nutshell, this book looks at salvation from the perspective of body, soul, and spirit, and Sheets focuses on salvation of the soul (aka sanctification). I've been a Christian most of my life, and I've never read this deep of an explanation of the salvation of the soul.

That's not to say that he's inventing a new approach or that he's "discovered" something new. It's actually the opposite: he goes back to the original Greek words to show how the English translations often simplify the more complex meanings of the words.

There's a lot of info in this book, but it's rooted in Scripture. It's thought provoking, inspiring, and encouraging. I'm glad I took my time reading through it--even after taking my time, there are many verses and passages I want to revisit (which is sort of the point of the whole book).

I will definitely hold on to this book and will most likely re-read it (after I share it).

I read it for myself. Now our life group is doing a study from it. It's explains the basics of how we got where we are, why we still struggle with sin though we're fully saved, etc. It does a good job of framing the 3 components of who we are (body, spirit, soul (mind, will, emotions)) and how they interplay together.

Don't get the study guide. It's out of date and, I think, pre-dates the book. I had to write my own.

This book was instructional in teaching the difference between psyche & pneuma, and he also did a great job of explaining the importance of "abiding." But he had a lot of sports references I didn't appreciate and wasn't very easy to relate to in general.

This book was the needed reminder and encouragement of who am in Christ! Also, it was a gentle, but needed rebuke for allowing pride, self doubt, and fear (fear of man and fear of failure) to become my identities.

I came to grips with the reality that I don’t like hard with or in some ways with at all when it comes to giving these negative areas over to the Lord. The Holy Spirit opened my eyes to the fact that comfort is one of my gods and I don’t like putting in the effort to allow God to truly be the Lord of every area. One of the many things I got out of this book was I need to saturate my “self” with His Word and especially the scripture that pertains to whatever I’m dealing with. In this case, scripture that points to my identity in Christ.

This is not a self-help book, but it is a spirit-filled book that clearly points us back to the scripture to begin taking the steps (with His strength and guidance) to know and rest in our identity in Christ.

Must read!

This book expounds on and deeply explains something that my mentor has discipled me about for years. This book took the message deeper in such a way that I know have a better understanding of how to apply God’s Word to my life to experience greater freedom and become who I am.

Clearly explains the Gospel, being spiritually born again and yielding to sanctification--our part in the process as The Word of God does Its work. It's a keeper, a wonderful read. Would love to soak in the beautiful, powerful Goodness and encouragement of it again soon. Thank you, Dutch!

Unusually practical

I like the author’s self-effacing humor. His focus is on the process. God uses to transform us and our cooperation with it and defining just what He does versus what we also need to do. Our doing is only and always contingent on what God already has done. Thank God for Dutch sheets.

Points for originality. Good thoughts. Didn't like his style. Greek words were overused in place of English ones.

Had some good stories and insights. Not as good as I was hoping. Maybe 3.5 stars instead of 4, but I couldn't bring myself to put 3. Overall a good book.

This book was confusing in a way. The back cover talks about the author discusses biblical truths and overcoming strongholds. After reading the book, I only got out of it there is a difference between spirit and soul.
The author fills the pages with too much Greek origins of terms for this reader. There are times where there are 4-5 Greek terms in one sentence and made me have to go back into past chapters to re-read what the definition of the words. And on top of that, there are the root words listed in the Greek words, which made reading the chapters even more confusing at times.
I did learn a few things in the book, but I felt I was taking a Greek class and spent more time trying to figure out the words in the sentence than what the message of the book was trying to state.

This is a very interesting read, and describes the distinguishing elements of the nature our soul and spirit. It definitely allowed me to get a deeper understanding of the Bible, and how God works. The first few chapters were quite interesting, and then the latter half was extremely repetitive with analogies that could have cut the chapters in half, and he could have gotten to the point quicker.
Overall, a very interesting read for any beginner just getting initiated into the reading scripture!
