“When it’s time for me to go, I just want to know that my life made a difference, Lord…” –Emma Estes’s journal, January 1
During her long and rich life, Emma Estes had a powerful impact on the lives of countless people–from the neighborhood’s latchkey kids to the community of elderly women who all consider themselves her “best friend.” It seems the only people Emma could not reach were those in her own family.
After Emma’s death, however, something strange her personal “Living on Purpose” journal mysteriously disappears. As the search for it unfolds, Emma’s life continues to have a dramatic, unexpected, and miraculously healing influence on those she loves most–as well as those she has never met–including her henpecked son Stuart; her tormented daughter, Judy; her emotionally fragile granddaughter, Ashley; and brokenhearted widower Ben Shoffner and his young daughter, Sunshine.
A story of hope, inspiration, and real-life encouragement, Emma’s Journal offers comforting assurance that a life lived in faith truly can make a difference.
This was a great little story of inspiration to others through a journal Emma kept. Emma influences many peoples lives in her neighborhood and church and her legacy continues after her death bringing her children closer to her and each other than they had been for years. A lot of love and healing in this little book!
This book centers around a journal kept by Emma, an elderly woman that has had a hard life, but who has chosen to make a difference to others by living a Godly life. Many people's lives are changed by Emma's journal. This is a quick, inspiring read.
Beautiful story about how God can restore a family and bring peace to their future lives. Gift book from Dana and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Truly a testament how God can change people who then can change people through the work of the Holy Spirit.
Be prepared to shed some tears on this absolutely remarkable story. I didn't expect to be hit so hard in the feelers with this one but I most definitely was. I will say right now though, Marilyn was and even at the end still is my least favorite character. She was so nasty, as in mean and cruel for a "religious" woman. The story behind Emma's Journal is amazing and eye opening and heartfelt. It is a must read even if you are not a religious person yourself.
I have felt inspired in many ways by the quotes and testimonies found throughout this book. It may be under 200 pages, but it gave infinite lessons on ways to live a life with true purpose and fulfillment according to God's Will. I believe everyone should read this book because it will provide you with so much insight on how God's love can breathe new life into a broken spirit and help you learn what it means to 'live on purpose'
Wonderful book to start the year off, very inspirational. This book makes you think about your life and how you can become a better person. 2nd time reading Emma's Journal.
