In an extensively revised new edition of the successful "Anorexia and Bulimia, " Richard Gordon includes new information and discussion of the latest ideas in this rapidly growing research field. The past two decades have witnessed an enormous increase in the number of cases of eating disorders in industrial societies.
I read this book while doing research for a paper and I was in awe. In the course of researching a paper, you come across a lot of texts, some of which are helpful and some of which are not. Gordon's writing is not only engaging but the information is substantial and clear. Gordon makes a good case around 'ethnic disorders' and discusses eating disorders candidly yet carefully.
This text could well be triggering for some people and I would not recommend it if you believe that you may be triggered. As a student and as someone writing a paper looking at eating disorders and the sociocultural context, this book was indispensable for me. The language used was easy to navigate and the topics and themes very relevant considering it's publishing date of 2000.
