Pilot Will and ship's engineer Tab are back, and they're serving once more on the spaceship Arillia. This time the entire cargo ship belongs to Will, which is a lot more responsibility and a lot more pressure on both men. Everything seems to be going well, at least with the ship, but what about Tab and Will's relationship? Can Will give his lover the emotional commitment Tab needs to keep going, or will Tab have to look elsewhere for love? And what happens when Tab's tweaking to the engine throws the Arillia into a whole new class, one it's not registered for? When Will is hit with a huge fine that clears out all of his savings, he has no choice but to scramble for partners with money, and those kinds of partners aren't always easy to work with. Will this spell the end of Will and Tab, or will the boys manage to keep their ship, and their lives, on the right flight plan? Will and Tab's first adventure can be found in Freighter Flights.
Drew Zachary is the pen-name of co-authors Chris Owen and Vic Winter.
"Born in the wilds of Canada, Drew grew up with an axe in one hand and a book in the other. Drew's love of writing is outshone only by his love of men. Lucky for him, he can combine the two.
From his father, Drew learned how to wield that axe, fix a carburetor and bake a mean can of beans using fire, gas or electricity. From his mother, he learned how to rotate the tires, turn apples into just about anything from cider to pie to a meatless lasagna, and how to swim. At twelve Drew ran away to join the circus, only to run away from it when he realized just how badly elephant poop stinks.
When Drew ran out of books to read he started writing his own and never looked back. His home is filled with books, unfinished manuscripts and his grandmother's knick knacks. His best friend is a dog named Barney and his pet fish keep him entertained for hours.
Drew writes about love because he still believes in it. Even though he's never found that special man himself, he's never given up hope. Well, never on a permanent basis, anyway."
Enjoyable sequel to Freighter Flights . Tab and Will are still grumping and prodding each other in between screwing. It's a Drew Zachary book, so there is never a shortage of sex. Lots and lots of sex. Will's history is made a little clearer and Tab really needs him to try and see him as his future and not like anyone in his past. Tab is more romantic and vocal about his feelings than Will is, but it all works out in the end.
Better than the first, really more of a conclusion to it. Lots of sex, but more emotions so that was a help. I'm not really sure why I picked this up in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep - other than it fit some challenges and it is always good to get something of Mt. TBR, but I'm glad I did. It wasn't great, but it was nice to get some resolution for the characters.
Still adore Tab, and Will grew on me a bit too, but more than anything I LOVE Drew Zachary - the writing is superb, the storyline is brilliant, and the whole sequel thing - Drew Zachary does sequels like no one else!! Just brilliant!
So much love for this book! Sweet read with a tad of angst, lots of sex and immensely likeable main characters <3 This one also helps to understand Will's behavior much better.
It's been a few months since Tab joined the Arillia as her engineer. Things have been going good for the Arillia and her crew, they're making their runs and earning money. Tab has been in a relationship of sorts with the ship's pilot and now captain and owner Will and things are looking good all around. However, even though they are getting along better, Tab knows that Will still has many issues that he hasn't dealt with. When Tab tries to express some of his feelings and needs to Will and they end up in yet another argument it looks like their relationship is coming to a screeching halt. Following another argument Will injures his hand and once again Tab shows him that he's there for him, in good and bad.
Their relationship back on the right track it's trouble for the Arillia that takes them by surprise. Clocked going faster than legal for their classification, Will is heavily fined. Even though they've been making good runs Will doesn't have nearly enough money to pay the fine. This once again puts a big strain on Will and Tab. When Will announces his intention to sell shares in the Arillia to hopefully come up with the fine Tab offers to get as much money as possible to help Will out. His engineering skills can get him high paying jobs, even if some of the jobs are doing things Tab would rather not do. The tension mounts aboard the Arillia between these two hot-headed and stubborn men as they both try to come to terms with the situation. It's going to take a lot of work to get them on the right track but it's something they both decide is worth doing.
Once again Drew Zachary has written a wonderfully gripping book and Will and Tab are simply outstanding characters. I love how the developments in the book flow so well and are handled so realistically but once again it's the emotional, and yes also the sexual, relationship between Will and Tab that's the primary focus of the story. I highly recommend both the Freighter Flights and Flying High.
I have a soft spot for Will since the first enstallment in this series, but really you can't understand his behaviour in that book if you don't read this second.
Will is cute and strong. He is a rock outside with a tender core. But he only shows his core to Tab, the rude engeneering who has conquered his heart (and his body, totally).
Tab is all strong passions, but he is also the man who can speak of his feeling. He can claim to be in love, and he makes great exploit to demonstrate his love, like a knight in shining armour. But Will is not a damsel in distress: he is a man and he can fight his battles... but it is better to fight in two and after the battle, to cuddle together!
So here we have the deeping of love between Will and Tab, and their struggle to accomodate two bossy behaviour and work together like an oiled engine... but Tab is a skilled mec, so he is the man for the task, isn't he?
More funny than the first enstallment, and as I remember more sexy (more sexy for Drew, means a lot of hot sex), Flying High is the book for the perv geek inside you!
In this sequel, we see the love that grew in the first book has grown and Will and Tab are ready to make their commitment to each other. Only Will still has some baggage from his past that needs to be aired so he can fully move on. This is a remarkably well written love story of two people who struggle with the battles of their daily lives and to find the love they sometimes feel is just outside their grasp. This is emotional, edgy and explicit. If you enjoy gay erotica, you'll not want to miss this duet from Drew Zachary.
Things are running smoothly on the Arilla, if not quite so smoothly between Will and Tab. Will still has a lot of issues to deal with and Tab doesn't know if he can be patient enough to ride out the frequent blow-ups.
Watching the two men struggle to communicate outside sex is in turns painful, confusing and amusing. This story focusses more on the relationship than the spaceship and rounds out Will and Tab nicely.
