Fast read, very informative, and covered almost every single thing on the test. I would highly recommend using this to study for the Security+ exam. The only downside was that it did not include a CD with study questions - the only practice test was in the back of the book.

Back in 2011 I was required to obtain a CompTIA Security+ certification. My company at the time provided "boot camp" like training courses as well as providing a book to use for the course. While I spent little over a hundred dollars on various books. I strongly recommend Darril Gibson's book! the book has been updated to the current test version (SY0-401) and assume that will be updated again once the 501 fully takes over come midyear 2018. The reason I recommend this book over the others is because the wording and explanations that Mr. Gibson provide are more "human" than basic text book answer. Trust me I speak computer and sometimes dry material like that can become a snore-fest. Before purchasing any other book give this book a try I've passed my test on the first try mainly using this book as my reference.

As far as certification textbooks go, this is the best one I've ever read. It gives you just the information you need to pass, the quizzes are comprehensive enough to prepare you thoroughly, and the writing style is excellent. He manages to make reading about technical topics interesting and entertaining, which is a valuable skill that not all certification authors possess.

I loved this book! I need to pass the Security+ exam to apply for my masters program, and this book helped me to understand some of the more complicated concepts. It also included a lot of practice exams which I believe has helped me to prepare for the exam.

The only book I needed to pass Security+ exam, so does you, if you have a basic understanding of networking of course!

Not a bad study book. The concepts were all there, but the subject matter from the book was different then the test.

Good for someone who has never thought about network security before.
