A short guide to help young Christians defend their faith. It’s good to be prepared for hard questions. And if you’re a Christian, hard questions are going to come. The Bible says we should be prepared to give an account of our faith, and so Stephen Nichols has written this short book to help you defend what you believe. Read, and make sure you’re ready.
Stephen J. Nichols (PhD, Westminster Theological Seminary) is president of Reformation Bible College and chief academic officer of Ligonier Ministries. Previously, he served as research professor of Christianity and culture at Lancaster Bible College. He is an editor (with Justin Taylor) of the Theologians on the Christian Life series and is the author of several books, including The Reformation, For Us and for Our Salvation, The Church History ABCs, and Bonhoeffer on the Christian Life.
People like Stephen Nichols help me feel confident that God is at work in this world honoring His Word, glorifying His name, and drawing people to His Son. This brief volume serves as a beautiful primer on how God uses people to accomplish the work of sharing and defending the gospel. Covering basic topics like the existence of God, the reliability of the Bible, and the importance of Jesus, Dr. Nichols helps the reader gain the confidence and courage to bear witness to the historic faith. If you’re interested in apologetics and wonder where to begin, this would be a perfect place to start.
A decent basic intro to Christian apologetics for adolescents and young adults. It’s an overview and introduction, so it doesn’t dig too deep, but it assumes a Reform theology that makes the book harder to understand and use for those who aren’t part of a Reformed tradition. There are a couple attempts at pop culture references that seemed clunky to me; I don’t know how they’d work with younger people.
