"Be careful what you pray for" is an old adage, but third grade teacher Maya Richards comes to discover that it's more than just a cliché. Maya has been with her soul mate, Kenneth Green, for more than ten years. She never doubted that he would one day ask for her hand in marriage, but on the eve of their anniversary, their relationship ends abruptly, and she finds herself alone for the first time in thirteen years. Maya turns to her family and best friend to help deal with her heartbreak, but is left to heal on her own. Her parents have discovered a love for traveling, her sister is preparing to move across the country, and her best friend is busy tending to her husband and children. Instead of seeing this time as an opportunity to get closer to God, Maya begs God to send her a new mate. Impatient and desperate, she begins a relationship with gym teacher Lloyd Bradford, despite many warning signs. As she struggles to escape a dangerous situation, Maya learns that the relationship that matters most in life is the one that she has with Christ. As Maya finds the strength to break away from Lloyd's tight reigns, will she trust God and allow Him to restore peace in her life?
Not good! Where do I start? Okay, well the book started off very slow...painfully slow. I'm not so sure that this book should have been labeled as "Christian Fiction" since there wasn't a lot of Christian activity going on. I don't understand how one can call themselves Christians while consistently practicing sin. The characters lived raggedy lives: they were "shacking", fornicating, drinking, and more. Where's the Christ in that? I read Christian fiction to get away from wordly literature; I'm always disappointed when fellow Christians write compromising books. I did not finish this book because I wasn't pleased with the series of events.
I Didn't like how Mya acted like an Immature teenager in one breath, but then as a "mature" woman who has it together.....when she Didn't!🙄 Like dating Loyd was such a big deal when she was nearly 40 Years Old her Dang self!😑 The premise of the book was Good, but I Didn't enjoy it Overall because of the different attitudes of the Heroine.....it was a Big contradiction of Whom Mya was "Supposed" to be.😐🙄 I've other books by Nicole Rouse and Really Enjoyed them, but I couldn't get into THIS story.......smh.😑
This book is easy to read and will capture you immediately. It’s also very realistic with its characters. I just didn’t like some of the “drama.” Some of the characters reaction to the drama wasn’t very realistic, but overall it was ok.
I found myself not liking the main character- she just seemed to make stupid descsions and I wasn't able to relate to her. Most of this stuff she did in this book had me wanting to grab and shake some sense into her. The not pressing charges bothered me the most. I didn't find that move Godly or anything and while venegence never works out, some recourse should have been pursued. Instead everything tied in a neat package which seldom happens in real life. Other than that major point ( which thankfully came late in the book) I enjoyed the story and the authors writing style.

It was good, but a little predictable. ..I agree with one other review that says it's not hardly Christian fiction. ..I can see where it can apply to real life. ..we pray to God for what we want, but then try to help Him bless us....I would be interested to know how her relationship with Mr. Gregorio goes and if Solomon and his wife ever got help
This book what actuall what I thought it would be. There was a nice plot and some great characters. Some of the book is predictable but it is still a good story line. The ending was kinda open so I still want to know what is going to happen to the main character......
