All Hallows Scream
Halloween is always full of ghastly frights, but this year village witch Evelyn Eldritch must endure the torture of amateur opera – directed by her boyfriend’s disapproving mother. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, when a cast member is killed onstage, the murder rumours fly – it must be the theatre ghost!
More pressingly, Evelyn fears that her evil overlord nemesis, Lord Vilnius, is planning a trick-or-treat trip to Maiden-Upon-Avon this Halloween. Incantations by the Beings of Magic committee should keep him at bay – just as long as no one invites him. And no one would, would they?

Loved it!
All Hallows Scream was another delightful addition to the English Village Witch Cozy series. Evelyn and Alex are at it again, solving crime in their picturesque town along with a side cast of fun-loving characters! Luke is the best book-brother, just going right along with Evelyn's schemes and lovingly teasing her along the way. Loved it!

This book is so much fun!
It has incredible worldbuilding, adorable characters, a riveting mystery and lots and lots of humour. I loved every minute of it!

This is another magical mystery, in this fun series, that should be on everybody's must read list. This is book 9 in the series and although it does work as a standalone, it is so much better read as part of a series, especially as Alex is finally learning some well kept secrets. The reason I loved this book is the characters, who are so well developed that you feel like you know them and they are family friends. This doesn't mean they are predictable, as with magic and magical creatures involved anything can happen, I mean how else can an evil being of magic turn up for tea. The spell casting is fun (with the rhyming) but doesn't always work out for the best, which for the reader is good because it adds some humour and quirk. The mystery was good, plenty of suspects and I was surprised with who it turned out to be. I really hope the author doesn't plan to end the series as I would miss my visits to Maiden Apon Avon but it certainly seems like she could be taking it in a new direction.

Multiple stories are told and woven together until the case is solved. There are twists and turns as clues are uncovered, and Alex and his force are trying to figure out whodunnit. But of course, not without Evie’s unwanted help, or is it?
There are vivid descriptions and some references to past cases. There is an abundance of evil with so much magic around. There is closure with the crime being solved and some hints of what might come in the next book when we meet up with everyone again. The cover is bright, and its details hold meaning for this cozy Halloween mystery that takes place over a few days.
Ms. Reed is an author whose magical books I’ve enjoyed. A cozy mystery, a cuppa tea, and lots of suspects and characters who have become friends kept me guessing and turning the pages until the case was nicely tied up.

It's been such a pleasure to read this fun and colourful cozy mystery series, and this latest book carries on the good work.
This time, our apprentice-witch Evie is inadvertently caught up in a new murder in Maiden-upon-Avon whilst attending a Halloween opera at the village hall - where a member of the cast is tragically killed during the show.
She and DI Alex are on the case, but she is soon in even more danger as her evil overlord father Lord Vilnius is back in the physical world intent on causing even more mayhem!
This book has all the ingredients that made the other books in the series so good - lots of spells and sorcery, an intriguing murder for Evie to solve, and the usual cast of crazy characters from the village to help her out - or put a wrench in the works! There's lots of humour too, and all the lovely descriptive language that Rosie Reed does so well.
I really loved this one, and can't wait for the next - just be prepared for some Halloween horror and hi-jinks!

A cuppa cures almost everything
Why doesn't Evelyn practice her magic? And why doesn't her mother teach her instead of her grandmother? All of the regular police have accepted Evelyn investigating the murder mysteries, not the new inspector though. Alex bounces between the hot seat with his bosses and trying not to show emotion with Evelyn. This gives Evelyn time to slip around and semi-insult the suspects until they slip up letting important facts surface. When she's not investigating she's looking for ways to keep her father away from the non magical world. And her sister is just susceptible enough to his compulsion to ask him over. All the main characters survive this one with just bumps and bruises.

The culprits were the only thing that was not obvious. They solved multiple murders in the process.
I borrowed this book from KindleUnlimted. This in no way affects my opinion of this book.

Once again a delightful read. It starts off in the local theatre where an opera is being staged. Then one of the actors dies & the fun begins. As usual, lots of wheels within wheels & threads leading to more complex matters. It didn’t help that the evil Lord got invited to the dinner at Alex’s parents’ home by Luke’s mother & then escaped out into the village. Naturally all ends up well.

After struggling with book 7 & 8 and wondering if I should give up on this series book 9 did not disappoint. The story line is progressing each book. Alex is discovering his magic. Still cant wait for Sam to learn about hers. I remember what they told Evie when she went back in time and how important she would be.
Looking forward to book 10.

Great fun
An enjoyable and entertaining read, this 9th book in this excellent paranormal cosy mystery series was a fun journey.
I am excited to see what else is in store for Evie, Alex, Luke and the rest of this magical bunch.
